I would argue that once HW4, new radar or a refresh is officially announced, then the models coming with it will simply cost more. I do not believe the current deal will still be there for these newer models.

What if cars without USS already have this new hardware? I mean, why would Tesla remove those sensors just for a couple months and then add a radar back on newer models. This would kill the value of all cars built within this short time frame. Surely there is a secret ingredient we are not aware...

How long did it take the last time they removed the radar for Vision Only cars to regain the missing features? It might give us an idea.

But with all that being said, I remain ever optimistic that when FSD beta is no longer beta and used as the code base for Autopilot, this should fix it.

I get the feeling that we don't get the option because it could be seen as an admission that there is an issue. I was really hoping that Vision Only would fix it, but it seems to make things worse instead. I guess the data model "sees" more phantom/false issues than the radar was "seeing"...

I have a 2019 M3. So radar-active as of this writing. But really the issue exists with all models and versions. At least they could give us an option to enable a dumber version of TACC that acts just like a regular Adaptive Cruise Control while they figure things out with TACC and Autopilot.

I'm sure they do. But to the subject of this thread. Can they do it with the currently installed hardware? After this last winter driving my M3, I doubt very much FSD will be feasible here in winter with the current hardware.

I don't know if the car needs more sensors per se, but I do know that it will need some ways of auto cleaning all the sensors for it to work in the Canadian winter.

We need a dumbed down version of "Traffic Aware Cruise Control" to just "Cruise With Radar". Let the smart stuff happen on AP/FSD and let us use cruise without the phantom breaking please !!!

In Canadian winter, 45% range loss is pretty standard. 50% seems a bit much, must have been due to speed maybe.

I would be happy just to have the TACC stop trying to kill me without extreme phantom breaking. I so wish there was a dumbed down version of it we can select where it's just a cruise with radar. My wife won't allow me to use cruise at all now. I would understand if these things were happening...

Yeah for the snow storm is that you can go for long stretches of road where conditions are fine but the cameras are still obstructed. I could relax my foot for 20 km at a time before hitting the next stretch of snow covered road.

The TACC is still much too smart and reacts to all sorts of things it sees. I wish we had a dumber option that really just keeps its distance from cars in front without breaking or slowing for shadows or whatever it sees.

Now with software version 2019.36.2.4 my regen is back to normal (winter normal) even with the Hakka 9 Studded. Very happy about this.

I did lose all regen as well with the Hakka 9 studded on a M3 RWD SR+. It took about a week and a half to get some regen back. I'm still glad I have these on. Best ice tires out there...

So time did indeed help matters. My M3 no longer sails when I release the accelerator. Regen is no where near what it would be with other tires, but I now have some regen the majority of the time...

Well, this morning it was better. I had also switched back to Hold mode. So I am cautiously optimistic. :)

I see a difference in the regen experienced while driving at higher speeds (higher than 70 km/h). I do not know why these two modes should have any effect on regen at higher speeds, but that's what I see.

I just find an opportunity to quickly put the car in park so I can switch modes a couple times on the same drive with all other variables being the same and on my M3 RWD SR+ the difference is very noticeable. The issue for me is that I also switched to winter tires so it might not be the new...

Humm maybe, but I'm not convinced. My tests were all made at about -10 celcius outside temps just after exiting a heated garage (heated at 5 celcius). You can experience the difference live while driving, you just have to find an opportunity to quickly put the car in Park to change the mode...

This is exactly what is happening to me. The available regen on the bar is barely used or not at all and the car just sails.

Yeah ok, it's been 3 days now for me with about 200km. In my area it seems they never heard of road salt and so we spend all winter on pure smooth ice. I really need those tires, so I'll say goodbye to regen for 5 months per year. :-(

They should have added the ability to pull the drive stalk toward the driver as a way of only cancelling Auto Steering. Like you can do with the other stalk to flash the high beam.
