Supercharger - Shoreline, WA (Under Construction Aug 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

From the last photo it seems some de-striping is needed in at least two stalls.
  2. F

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Do you mean change of v3 pedestals to v4 ones with longer cable and magic-dock, like in new Bothell (Canyon Park) site??

    Total eclipse charging in Texas

Good to hear that. I hope the view wasn’t too cloudy for you. Having started this thread, to see what it might be like in Texas, I panicked when seeing the forecast get bad for most of Texas, so we flew to Boston, rented an ICE, and stayed in NH with relations and drove to northern Vermont on...

    Total eclipse charging in Texas

There's another thread where a few people are talking about charging when travelling to see the Total Eclipse Tesla supercharging during solar eclipse? but I wanted to get info specifically for west Texas from those who know the situation there. My main concern is that travelling from New...

    Supercharger - Post, TX

Recent new site installations have not had the backstops, and in some cases, they were put in and then removed before the site was commissioned. The reason posted elsewhere is that Cybertrucks and probably other non-Tesla vehicles cannot reach the cable when using the v3 stalls if the stop is...

    Supercharger - Sammamish, WA (LIVE 12 Mar 2024, 8 V3 stalls)

It seems we have seen this happening at other new sites too. Bumpers in, then bumpers out. I wonder if the change is to accommodate non-Tesla vehicles at a future date. Seems likely to allow for accidental damage though. Good to see this SC finally turned on. Nearly 14 months from breaking...

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Can one of moderators move the map pin on supercharge.info a bit further north to direct people to the right area of the parking lots at Freddie's? I forget their handles. Also this thread title can now change to "LIVE" from "under construction". Here's a black oval marking the area where the...

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Darn it, @PLUS EV , can’t you let someone else get first charge for a change? You go everywhere, I go nowhere so this was my most likely chance for that honor. 😉

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

If only it had "magic socks", but sadly it doesn't have magic docks for CCS charging either.

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

It’s big, it’s green, it’s here! No lights on the stalls though, so not active yet. Maybe soon (1 to 2 weeks?). No spot for a meter either, maybe these days the metering is inside the switchgear cabinet. Also no magic socks on the pedestals, not that I expected them.

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

I just realized that except for the disabled stall (with the standard blue ADA sign), all the other posts with "Tesla charging only" sign have gone! What does that mean? Back-in bumpers instead?
  12. F

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

More pictures. Switchgear cabinet is in place and rest of concrete work is done. All pedestals have a “Dunn Lumber” plastic bag secured over them, very amusing! Dunn Lumber is just a block away. They must have not had the normal Tesla covers available. Finally the stall furthest to the right...

    Supercharger - Coos Bay, OR (LIVE 25 Oct 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

I’ve been coming to the area most summers for 15 years and 7-devils is a must-visit every trip. I’ve never felt unsafe late at night there. I’ve not seen cloths strewn about either.

Supercharger - Sammamish, WA - NE 4th ST. (dig ticket filed Oct 23 2023)

Hate the autocorrect. Love the idea that there might be “dog tickets” involved. 🐶🐕🐩🦮🐕‍🦺

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Updates as of today, three DC cabinets are in place and concrete work is on going for the transformer and switchgear (no sign of that cabinet on site), although some of it was covered for the first time today, probably due to rain starting this evening locally. Stalls are paved and striped with...

    Supercharger - Valleyview, AB

Concerning the conduits, we do know that with new V3/V4-compatible pedestal bases that there is a second larger conduit used compared to v2/v3 installations. I can't tell from the one photo whether the pedestal base seen matches what I've seen on other threads where we know it's the new type...

    Supercharger - Bothell, WA

Looks like it’s been a while since anyone has commented on Bothell, but I was getting a roofing quote from a company today and the guy rolled up in a model 3. So of course I had to ask him about it. He does about 200 miles a day and the company got them when gas was pushing $6 a gallon. He...

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Indeed construction has started. I shot a couple of snaps in the dark tonight. This picture shows 11 of 12 pedestal bases in place in a trench without any cabling yet. The 12th base was off in an area near the wrapped Tesla cabinets, maybe it was faulty in some way? Do these bases look...

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Electrical permit is issued and has plans. Interestingly the location is the northeast corner of the Freddie's parking lot, near the fuel station. I was expecting the SE corner instead, but this area is the last to get occupied when the lots get full in the holiday season. Plans are at...

    Supercharger - Tukwila, WA - Southcenter Parkway (LIVE 2 Jan 2024, 16 V3 stalls)

Yes, they’re Hertz vehicles of course, I’m just surprised: Hertz thinks it’s a good idea to occupy paid employees for so long doing this Hertz or Tesla hasn’t put in superchargers at the airport’s car-rental center and save the employee time doing this as they could plug in and then do other duties
  21. F

    Supercharger - Tukwila, WA - Southcenter Parkway (LIVE 2 Jan 2024, 16 V3 stalls)

It’s not just renters, it’s Hertz employees too! I was at the existing Tukwilla charger at 9am on a regular weekday a few months back and all 16 stalls were full, and all the drivers were wearing Hertz jackets.

Supercharger - Clackamas, OR (LIVE Jul 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Good news, but no Burgerville nearby. I'll guess I'll drive through the SE Powell Blvd one on my way south and then pull in here to charge while eating in the car.

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Seems the two new-ish major developments in Kirkland (The Village at Totem Lake and Kirkland Urban) long-rumored to be preferable sites for a future supercharge, have missed out on an opportunity to get the EV crowd to come shop and dine while charging. Now Freddie’s will get a few more...

Supercharger - Issaquah, WA - Gilman Village

Fortunately, individual officials (by which I assume you mean the person reviewing and approving the permit application) don't get to decide what is the City of Issaquah's policy and practices and what isn't and can't deny an application without merit. The city would get sued lickety-split for...

Supercharger - Ridgefield, WA (LIVE May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Those pedestals are pre-formed units that are "poured" elsewhere into molds and just have to be placed on site. How many non-Tesla EVs available in the US can charge at greater than 7kW/32 amps from a level-2 charger? I didn't think there were many outside of niche (high-end and expensive) EVs.

Minneapolis to Seattle via Boulder CO

I think cleaning all the cameras at the start of each day may help with phantom braking and with "camera obscured" messages, and also clean them after any wet-road driving. Sunshine is an issue with blinding the cameras if there's a smudge on the glass camera cover. Are you using the in-car Nav...

Supercharger - Tacoma, WA (LIVE Mar 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

A transformer, but no meter installed in the Tesla white cabinet behind the green monster in that photo. Only 1000kVA unit, which is "normal" but we saw a 2000kVA transformer provided somewhere else recently that was only a standard-size site (12/16 stalls). I was hoping they might all go...

    Supercharger - Lynnwood, WA - 148th St SW. (LIVE 1 Sep 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

@Chuq @corywright Can one of the supercharge.info admins move the site location pin/cone to the parking area behind the Bartells. Judging by the photos just posted, the actual location is not by SR99 but in the northeast corner of the lot in an overflow parking area. My Google maps drop pin...

Sales tax rate different among different Seattle area SCs

Did the WA state sales tax exemption for EVs expire? It used to exist, not that it helped me in 2018.

2018 Tesla Model 3 Long range RWD with EAP ($35,000)

Because the rest of us live in the real world and have lives to live. Normal is what normal people do. Hence we occasionally hit the too-high side curbing that you can't see when pulling into parking spots or parallel parking. I have never had a car before where the rim jutted out beyond the...

    Supercharger - Pasco, WA (LIVE 20 Apr 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

Rebar is not an electrical component, it is structural. Concrete is not a conductor, so there’s no point to grounding a concrete slab, whether reinforced or not.

    Supercharger - Minot, ND

I’m curious about the variance requested in the application. Are EV chargers considered “filling station pumps” just like a gasoline station pump? Obviously they don’t need such a setback for safety reasons, as it’s not really possible to spill electrons onto the ground or electrocute people...

    BMS_a027 error

I drove it for at least a week, and the alerts didn't go away. The invoice finally arrived, and it is $0.00! The rear inverter was replaced and apparently was covered by "Drive Unit Limited Warranty". Thats surprising as I thought my warranty for everything but the battery pack had expired a...

    BMS_a027 error

You don’t need a tow (unless you’re not prepared to drive there and back). It should drive fine at normal highway speeds, 70mph was fine for me. However they might need to keep it overnight, they actually had mine for 3 days due to “waiting for parts”, so consider your options for that...

    BMS_a027 error

I got the pair of alerts Wednesday after updating software to 2022.36.20 (FSD Beta 10.69.3.1) overnight but have never had the inverter replaced, as others report, and no other maintenance in the past 3 years beyond HW3 install. Strangely the nav forgot my home address too and said it wasn’t set.

    Supercharger Voting

My votes went to (in no particular order): Florence OR Ucluelet, BC (Vancouver Island enroute to Tofino) Kalispell MT (Flathead Lake area) McDermitt, NV (Boise to Vegas) McCall, ID And my suggested site is Kingston upon Thames (London, UK) because there is a vast area of southwest London...

    Supercharger - Pasco, WA (LIVE 20 Apr 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

Why does that diagram show the Tesla regular and alternative charging pedestal perpendicular to the usual arrangement? The bollard is at one end of the pedestal, not in front of it even if offset a bit. Anyone have comments on the long cable seen for the alternate pedestal? V4 with the CCS option?

    Supercharger - Everett, WA

No sign of any Tesla equipment in the photos, let alone the utility transformer. This is within Snohomish County PUD service area. If it were PSE we might have a long wait for the green monster to show up, judging by Tukwila. Anyone have info about whether SC-PUD has transformers in-stock?
  41. F

    Supercharger - Woodburn, OR

So adding one v3 cabinet? Do we know if the permits talk about a second utility transformer installation, or is there enough capacity from the existing one to power the 8 v2 stalls, plus 4 new v3s? The transformer is the long lead item, as everyone here knows.
  42. F

    Supercharger - Lacey, WA

I just saw some recent posts about the pedestal damage, but these prior messages caught my eye. One reason for not using Starlink is that it is oversubscribed in most urban/suburban areas of US and you cannot get a subscription currently Even in areas like this. The permit is clearly just for...

    Supercharger - Redding, CA (LIVE 11 Oct 2022, 8 V3 stalls)

I agree there's not many food options, but it'll be useful for me. We stopped in this park for a walk with our friends (they drove ICE), but after leaving we needed to charge in Corning 50 miles south of Redding and so our friends got way ahead of us on our journey south. If I could have...

Supercharger - Tillamook, OR (LIVE Sept 2022, 12 V3 stalls)

Probably for drilling (or using a mole device) under the main road there to get power from the HT lines across the highway to the site without disrupting traffic much. The “locate” area seems larger than needed.
  45. F

    Supercharger - Sutherlin, OR

My suspicion is that this will be a site that allows non-Tesla EVs to charge. Why else would it be so large? Not really needed for Tesla charging, given the gap to other SCs along I-5. So maybe the delay is to ramp up manufacturing of the V4 Supercharger equipment that should include a...

Supercharger - Bend, OR - SW. Industrial Way (LIVE Jun 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

This is interesting for a few reasons: 1. This has a 1Q23 projected date like Sutherlin 2. Neither Sutherlin nor a second Bend site are really needed for Tesla charging capacity or coverage 3. Sutherlin is a mega site with ~57 stalls. Nearly 3 times any other site in Oregon or Washington, and...

Supercharger - Ridgefield, WA (LIVE May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

The agreement says Tesla can’t ”occupy” the site (start construction) before March 2023. since all our family trips to Oregon require a stop at Burgerville, we’ll be skipping Ridgefield when it’s built, and will go to the Vancouver V2 charger instead, despite that needing more off-highway...

Supercharger - Harrisburg, OR (LIVE May 2022, 8 V3 stalls)

Yes, fabulous drone shots. They really show the local layout well. Thank you @Familyfirstj Wouldn’t it be nice to compile a catalog of such views of every SC in the region? Maybe supercharger.info could host them with a “photos” option on the pop up selections? They need to be better than the...

Supercharger - Tillamook, OR (LIVE Sept 2022, 12 V3 stalls)

I already agreed it should be a cone, but "not very solid on most of your points" was the all I said, Only one of the five big green check marks is related to construction. Who was it who spotted the concrete equipment pad in the background of the image? That for me is SOLID evidence.

I always make a visit to 7 Devils pub every time my family and I are in the area (we stay in Charleston), so I'm happy to see this SC going in here, both for myself and for others. There's another 7 Devils Alehouse on the waterfront in a new development at the northern end of N Front St right...
