In the Bay Area, PG&E's cheapest plan for EV charges $.57 per KWH peak and $.26 off-peak (12 am to 3 pm), in the summer. Solar panels are the best accessories for EV owners who also own their homes.

You can always schedule charging during off-peak hours regardless of whether you have the Tesla wall connector or not.

If you install a wall charger, you don't need the mobile connector. If you want to charge using an AC outlet, whether 120V or 240V, then you need the mobile connector.

They always say don't go there until you get the text message that your car is ready with a slot number. You can just go to that slot and inspect the car, without checking in with them.

Looks like a lot of the basic version, white/black/19, are bring delivered now, especially to Northern California. I believe just about all Jan orders will be delivered by end of this month. Not that it is that important, since I think the $7500 is good at least for a couple of weeks past March.

That high range is only available on the 225 HP version. I would take the MYLR range anytime, with its great power. The IONIQ 6 is also a small car. More comparable to the Model 3 RWD, which is a lot cheaper if you qualify for the rebates.

I have owned two Tesla's. They are exemplary in reliability. Many fewer things to go wrong. Virtually no maintenance needed. Tesla issues get overblown.

If you may get an EV from a different manufacturer later, it's nice to have the NEMA 15-40 outlet. You can install both. Just the wall connector may be cheaper, since you don't need to run 4 wires. Remember there is a tax rebate on home charger installations.

You may want to go into a showroom and ask. When I did that, they said my order has been soft-matched to a VIN, to be delivered 3/25. Basic version, no option, OD 1/17. EDD 3/15 to 3/31. We may not buy it, though.
