    Test Drives?

What do we know about test drives,if anything? How,when, where? I'm #1950. My wife needs to lay hands on one before she makes her final decision. Thanks.

How low will SOC get on a plugged in MS before recharging?

I'm plugged into standard household current at an airport for 3 weeks. Set the slider at 60%. Visible Tesla still shows a 12 amp pilot current. The pack is down to 55%. How low will it go before it charges back to 60%?

    Maritz Research wasted my time

I get this survey request from Maritz Research. They tell me they'll donate money to my favorite charity if I fill out their car survey. I figure what the hell I'm just sitting here watching the tube. Ten minutes into it they find out I drove a Prius for 6 years and switched to a Model S. They...

PoCo Board of Directors. Advice please.

The small (4 Counties) local Power Company has asked me to be on the Board of Directors. What don't I know? What questions should I ask? Advice on any, and all considerations appreciated. I'm still considering.

Question on TPMS Reset vs Odometer/Energy graph

If I put the 21's back on after Winter, and I tell the TPMS reset screen that they're 21's (vs the 19" snow tires) does the whole car know that I have 21's? The Odometer? The Energy graph? Or, do I need the Service Center to tell the Odometer functions that I have the 21's back on?

Thinking of going with this solar installer/proposal. Please comment/critique/discuss

We're thinking of going with these guys (Icon Solar, Cincinnati) for our solar. Please comment, critique, and discuss. Any and all inputs welcome. I don't want to screw this up!

    My first valet experience

After 9 months and 7000 miles I finally used a valet. Leaving the car: Me: "I really LIKE this car and I want it to be in perfect condition when I get it back. Have you ever seen one of these?" Valet Kid: "Oh yes, we get a lot of these." So I put the Tesla Tap Valet Instructions on the...

    Snow tire handling question

I recently put the 19 inch Nokian Hakka R2's on new Cyclone wheels and mounted them on the MS. They seem to be a little "squirrely" at high speeds. Is this just a factor of coming from the 21" performance tires? Is it driving in 60 degrees on dry pavement with ANY snow tires? Or maybe something...

Fail. Just blew my very first Plugshare request.

When I first signed up for Plugshare I didn't include our home phone. I listed my cell and gave the option of voicemail, text, or PM on TMC. I hadn't considered a real time, right now, my primary and backup charging options failed scenario. Cell reception is pretty much non existent at our...

    Where is the "frame" made?

Maybe I should have put this in the "anti-EV gibberish" section. A friend who likes to take random "potshots" at my car recently said something about the MS frame being made in the UK. He vaguely referenced an interview by Charles Gibson on Good Morning America. I haven't seen any reference to...

    I love this freaking car!!!

Everyone I know is sick and tired of hearing about my Car Of The Year. I'm sorry. I just can't help it. Sometimes I just want to tell anybody how much I love the car and why. So I started this thread for myself and others to "let it out" in a safe environment. No rules, judgement, whining...

First Ranger visit in progress. New Charge Port

He's here putting in the new Charge Port. The original simply wouldn't release the HPWC handle no matter what we tried. Something interesting is that the Ranger said he'd like to update me to 4.5 when he finishes the installation. I told him we have no 3G. He said, no problem. If you have WiFi I...

I think I finally sold one! All it took was 105mph.

I've been trying very hard to sell an MS to anyone. A friend was in town from ABQ who is a "fast car guy." he always has something in the garage that goes fast. Right now he has a SMS AMG GT (2013). After breakfast one day we had about 15 miles to the golf course on a mostly flat (little...

Leaving MS for 3 weeks. UMC vs. HPWC?

We're beating the slider setting to death in the other thread. I'm going with 50% when leaving for 3 weeks. Assuming I get 4.5 by departure date. Can anyone see a reason to prefer the HPWC or the UMC for plugging in the whole time I'm gone? How about charge rate? 60 (HPWC)? 40 (UMC)? Or...

My Letter to The Electric Consumer & Editors response.

It's late with some incorrect info and much not included due to magazine lag times. I wrote the letter in early April. Context: The Electric Consumer magazine had a decent 4 page article on "EV's" with no mention at all of Tesla. I was annoyed so I fired off this letter: Hi, Just...

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Given the introduction of the "slider" I would like Tesla to give a number (percentage charge) that is optimal for the life of the pack. If you never (or almost never) need the full, or even standard charge range; what is the best level to charge to on a daily basis? Most driving days for me are...

My permanent charging stuff is in.

While I'm waiting (patiently?) for Shane to come home from the Model S hospital I thought I'd attempt some photos of my charger configuration in the garage. HPWC, and two 14-50's so we're ready for the "get together." Come on out and set a spell!

    Downloading 4.4 Brodered my car.

I guess it's my turn in the barrel. I was running errands and I got the update notification. We don't get 3G at home and it's a beautiful Spring day so I decided to go to the park and park. 4.3 took about 20 minutes. So, after over 2 hours I called roadside to confirm I was really getting the...

A personal note to "Reluctant" detailers.

I can't remember ever hand washing one of my vehicles. The closest I've ever come would be when I get the "your car is filthy" reprimand from the wife and I'd take it through the coin operated drive through. I decided pre-delivery that I would make an "attempt" at keeping the MS clean. The...

Any last minute advice for SS pickup?

T minus 24 hours! I'm heading up to the Columbus SC tomorrow to pickup my car. First I have to spend most of today flying home. Sooo... Any last minute advice for pickup at the Service Center. There will be no DS so I'm not really sure what to expect. Plus, it's a new SS. Just opened. I'll...

Should I get my new MS detailed?

MS is coming Tuesday. My "intention" is to try very hard to take care of the exterior of this car. I have no knowledge or practical history of doing this. I'm going to try though which actually amounts to taking it to a highly rated detailer in Cincinnati on a regular basis. Question: Is there...

Do you drive with a UMC in the Trunk/Frunk?

I've read that folks don't think it's good for the plug to keep plugging and unplugging. I'm guessing I'll just be too lazy. I'll obviously have it with me with all the adaptors for road trips. Do I need it in the car for just daily driving with no range anxiety whatsoever? Are you doing this...

    Car porn at the cabin.

So I'm sitting on a big leather couch, attended by a roaring fire at the lake house on a stunning Winter day. I've got the laptop out and am looking at EVERY video of the Model S every created. And my wife knows! She's out snowshoeing without me. Could I possibly have a problem?

A little perspective-My final visit to an ICE car dealership

I'm sitting in the waiting room at the Toyota dealer. It's strange but I really feel as if I don't belong here. The Prius is getting a new 12 volt. 210 dollars for the battery and another 100 bucks to put it in. Ranger service at the house anybody?

First Service Academy Grad to take delivery of a Model S?

Just for fun, I'm claiming to be 1. The first Service Academy graduate to take delivery of a Model S. 2. If not, the first Air Force Academy graduate to take delivery of a Model S. Come on all you Squids, and Hudson High alumni; prove me wrong. Zoomies too if you can!

Just got verbally abused by an EV basher

I guess it wasn't as bad as the title makes it sound. I'm really excited about my MS for so many reasons and love telling people about it. The electrician just left. Need validation from smart forum people.

My trusted electrician just left. We have a 400 amp service with two 200amp boxes in the house with breaker protection on each of them. My Test Drive with DSM363 and his Mom!

I can't thank DSM and his beautiful and gracious Mom enough for the test drive today. It could NOT have been better, or more fun with any Tesla Pros. I can't thank either one enough, or express how delightful they both are in person. This was my first ever contact with the Model S. I'll give...

    Okay this is getting WEIRD!

I was just playing Santa and a little boy asked for a Monster Truck. I asked him if he'd rather have a Tesla Model S instead! My wife (the elf) just about died laughing in between wanting to kill me. I think I may need help. Or at least a delivery window.
