    Model Y - Hands On

I'm quite envious. Congrats! Enjoy! And thanks for the thorough description of your experience.

Range of Model 3 less than expected on my first long-ish trip

Thanks to all who replied. And you are right...I ought to have spent more time viewing other posts before troubling people for their opinion. For what it's worth, the geography is perfectly flat and the heating system was turned completely off. Body heat from the three passengers was enough to...

Range of Model 3 less than expected on my first long-ish trip

I was well aware that "your mileage will vary" due to speed, outdoor temp, etc., and that the 322 miles promised with a long-range, all-wheel-drive Model 3 would, especially in cold weather, be closer to 250 actual miles. But I was terribly disappointed by my experience of my first long-ish...

    SO much fun...

I tell my friends, only half jokingly, that I grocery shop for one item at a time, just so I can make more trips back and forth to the grocery store with my Model 3. I've owned four 3-series BMWs and have love them all. Still, my Model 3 is more fun than any of them. Still, I sometimes miss...

Warning!!! Model 3 will make you immature (again)

Love this story. I enjoy having the power, even though I've never used it off the line in a drag race. I just sit there, smugly, KNOWING I can beat the guy next to me.

    Funniest Tesla Question Thread

Why on earth would you think it's funny to laugh at a person for asking a question? Do you always laugh at people who want to learn about things they don't understand? Is there an area of knowledge where you might ask a question that would be, to a more knowledgeable person, a stupid question...

Blog Tesla Horn to Get Custom Sounds – Goats, Farts, Coconuts

Here is a link to a YouTube video that shows the sound Nissan is proposing be used: . And here is a link to the whole New York Times Sept 21st article on this topic: Beep. Ding. Vroom. Electric Cars Need to Make Noise for Safety, but What Kind? Harlan

Did you have to convince your significant other?

I have three suggestions: First, with a baby coming soon, I suggest you point out how safe Tesla's are compared to most other cars. The entire bottom of the car is battery creating a very low center of gravity and making them much less likely to roll over in an accident versus a typical car...

What's the most surprising thing you've found once you got your Tesla?

I was most surprised by how quickly I came to love the silence of the Tesla. Growing up in the 50s and 60s, I loved the roar of an ICE engine. I thought I would miss it. Now I see both are wonderful in their own way. But I favor the silence.

    BMW F80 M3 v Model 3 Performance--From Someone that Owns Both

What a delightful essay. I've coveted an M3 all my life but when it came time to buy one, I worried about the complexity of it all and the potential cost of maintenance and repairs. I've got the long-range, dual motor Model 3 and an absolutely delighted. The driving dynamics are amazing, the...

NEMA 14-50 charges perfectly...most of the time (but not always)

Final update on this issue: The electrician came out and replaced the GFI circuit breaker with a regular breaker and now it all works perfectly. Thanks for all those who posted responses.

NEMA 14-50 charges perfectly...most of the time (but not always)

I appreciate this. Needless to say, circuit breakers are wonderful things as safety devices to prevent fires. But like all things in life, they can fail and/or be finicky.

NEMA 14-50 charges perfectly...most of the time (but not always)

Thank you, MN-MS100D, for your response. I posted a separate post on what the electrician told me.

NEMA 14-50 charges perfectly...most of the time (but not always)

I just spoke with the electrician who installed my NEMA 14-50 charger. Here's what he says (I'm pretty sure I'm describing this exactly correctly): Local codes required that he install a GFCI circuit breaker when he initially installed the NEMA 14-50. Tesla, however, says that GFCI breakers...

NEMA 14-50 charges perfectly...most of the time (but not always)

Interesting thought. The house is only 20 years old and has a 200 amp service, so I don't THINK that's it. But, I will watch to see of the A/C is on when the problem appears. That could be it. Thanks again.

NEMA 14-50 charges perfectly...most of the time (but not always)

Here's a mystery I've not seen addressed: The NEMA 14-50 I recently had professionally installed in my garage has worked perfectly, until yesterday. When I went to recharge yesterday, it blew the 50 amp circuit breaker. I reset the circuit breaker and tried again -- six times. Each time it...

Software upgrade for faster performance possible?

Couldn't find this addressed in previous posts, so here goes: In June 2019 I purchased a dual-motor long-range version of the Tesla Model 3. I couldn't justify what was then an almost $10,000 premium for the performance version. But now I'm wondering if I can pay for a software upgrade to get me...
