Wall connector installation and cold weather

Makes no difference at all. TWC and cable is rated for this kind of use. The cable might get stiff when you get down to -60 degrees F, but I guess you have other issues if it gets that cold. To turn your question around: If you plug in a lamp in a socket located on your external wall in your...

Two questions re crosswalks and speed control.

Here in Europe Autosteer stops for pedestrians in a crosswalk. You get the red line across the road, just like you do at a traffic light, and you see the pedestrian walking in front of the car on the screen. And when they have crossed and the road is clear, the red line goes green and the car...

Different Tesla Chargers in North America and Europe

Navigation won't work. Warranty will be voided if you take your car outside North America. Mobile app won't work.

    14-50 charging slowly

What color is the ring on the charging port when you are charging? If it is blinking yellow, the plug is not seated correctly in the charging port, and you are limited to 16A. If so, unplug and plug in again trying to push the connector a bit further in. If it is blinking green there is...

Loud Grinding Noise while steering wheel is turned

Dumb question - but have you by chance mounted the rear wheels on the front axle by mistake? The rear wheels are larger in both width and height and will touch the wheel well lining and suspension parts if mounted on the front axle. Check that you have the 265/45-20 wheels in front and...

    Question on A/C

Perfectly normal that it is a bit noisy in the beginning. The car has a variable speed AC compressor, so it can run at different speeds depending on load. And not like in an ICE car, or your home, where it only cycles between on and off. You will experience the same noise and vibrations when...

    Question on A/C

Normal behaviour. The AC compressor can be a bit noisy when running at full speed/high load. If your car is very hot inside, the AC will run at full blast in the beginning to get the temperature down quickly, and then it will reduce the load on the compressor.

    Model S 2013 US -> EU conversion

You need the European navigation database from Tesla. And they will not give you that or enable it on your car. They will not touch the car as you have breached the conditions in their warranty by bringing it from the US to Europe. You might be able to find someone that can root/hack your car...

    Instrument cluster start up

Check "Power saving mode" under Display in the settings. If that is turned on, after X amount of time the computers turn off to save power. And the computer for the instrument cluster is a bit slow to start. So if your car has been "running" in the last 30 minutes, the IC would most likely be on...

EU COC for 2018 MX 75D

Your car isn't certified by Tesla (or third party) for registration in Europe. You need a EU "type rating certificate". And those are provided to the manufacturer for their vehicles produced for EU, not those produced for the US. And Tesla also clearly specify in the warranty statement that they...

    Tesla autopilot HW3

Are all highways in the US covered now? I was under the impression that NoA didn't work everywhere in the beginning and was still rolling out to more and more areas. Autopilot used ADAS tiles for info about the road thru version 2019.8.x. And if I have understood verygreen correctly they have...

    Tesla autopilot HW3

Same reason it doesn't work all over the US - missing/incomplete map data needed for NoA.
  13. sjokomelk

    Tesla autopilot HW3

Model 3 has a different type approval than Model S and Model X. That is why only Model 3 has NoA so far. Same all over Europe. That is also why Model 3 didn't have Autopilot in the first demo cars. My guess is that auto lane change is such a big change from Autopilot only being a lane keep...
  14. sjokomelk

    Tesla autopilot HW3

Type approval for Autopilot in Model 3 for Europe included NoA. Autopilot wasn't available in the cars in the beginning since the type approval was missing. Model S and X have an old type approval for Autopilot that doesn't include NoA. Tesla need to apply for a new type approval that includes...

    Buying HPWC

Correct. TWC (Tesla Wall Connector) replaced the old HPWC (High Power Wall Connector) a couple of years (?) ago. TWC is the one with the integrated holder for the charging plug on the side. And the TWC can load balance between 4 units connected together.
  16. sjokomelk

    Buying HPWC

I would opt for the newer TWC and not the old HPWC if possible.

EU Model 3: AC charging speed?

Model S and X for EU supports 1x32A. There is a relay/switch in the car that changes the connection between the charger modules from a wye connection to a parallel connection.

    Model S 2013 US -> EU conversion

You need to change the tail light assembly with a EU version to get the turn signals to work. 3 (or maybe all 4) parts of the tail lights are different on the EU version.

Replaced front side parking sensor - Park Assist disabled

For later - the system needs to be calibrated if you replace a sensor. The system is looking for feedback from sensor "abc123" at location XY. If sensor "def456" is reporting, then it doesn't know where that is located and throws a fault.

Tesla X is not charging above 84%

Do you maybe use Teslafi to log info from your car? I did, and after a while the percentage never got above 86%. Disabled Teslafi and left the car connected to a charging cable over night, and it was back at 99% again. Check this thread: Battery no longer charging to 100%

Does you HPWC start even when it is not the set time?

This is normal behaviour. The car checks if the charging station is communicating OK and closes the relay to check what kind of voltage is available and IF there is any voltage available. And if your car is "on" (any doors open or MCU is active), the car will use shore power from the charging...

Everything else is proprietary Tesla Supercharger Saying that everything with a Combo2 plug/socket could plug...

    Light sensor position

That is by legislation. The default mode has to be Auto. And it is all about safety to keep the DRL on when driving during daytime, and normal head and tail lights turning on when needed.
  28. sjokomelk

    Light sensor position

You might get 300 extra feet of range from 100 to 0% discharge cycle with your lights off. Not worth if for the safety of you and others around you. Leave them in the auto position.

The .48* updates haver broken TACC

Battery no longer charging to 100%

Battery no longer charging to 100%

My issue got solved over X-mas. A senior technician at my local service center told me I needed not only to have a high state of charge, but the car had to go to sleep for the BMS to calibrate. And apparently TeslaFi didn't stop polling the car, so it never got enough "rest" to figure things...

Battery no longer charging to 100%

I have the same issue, but my car stops at 86%. The service center told me to drive the car down to below 20% and let it sit over night, and then charge to above 90% and let it sit over night again for the BMS to reset/relearn. And do this a couple of times. Only issue is that the first time it...

    Neural Networks

In Europe emergency vehicles can change the lights. They have the same transponders as buses and trams use to get priority. But they don't always use them if not needed. And using the priority button only shortens the cycle for crossing traffic. The signals goes thru the normal cycle.

    Anybody on V9 in Switzerland?

My guess would be that the delay is due to the dashcam feature in V9. AFAIK dashcams are not allowed in Austria? And Switzerland has very strict laws for this too?
  36. sjokomelk

V9 and French speedlimits still wrong... urgh...

Speed limits are not a part of the software or navigation. It's a third, separate mapping system. Search for "ADAS tiles" in the forum for more info.

Does this look like dual chargers to you?

I wouldn't mind if they upgraded the superchargers to running 12 of the "facelift" charger modules on 480V 3-phase with 24A each. That would be a total of 240kW. They already run on 400V 3-phase at 24A in the cars in Europe, so 480V isn't that much more power. Going from 230V L-N to 277V.

    TESLA PHONE DOCK for iPhone

Call your service center and order it. They should have it in stock. If not, they will order it for you.
  39. sjokomelk

    Autopilot, when?

Tesla doesn't have "autopilot". They have a driver assistance package they have given the name "Autopilot (tm)". Two different things. The first is an automated system, the latter is a name.
  40. sjokomelk

Does this look like dual chargers to you?

If you look closely on the label on the Gen2 48A charger, it says it supports both single and 3-phase power. In Europe the charger is set up for 3x16A 400V 3-phase. That is the same as 48A single phase. Same unit is used for both US and EU, but limited to 40A single phase in the US.

    Charging Questions with a non-Tesla L2 model.

Set your car to 48A on the "Charging" screen, and then plug in your L2 charger and go look at the "Charging" screen again. The 48A should have dropped to 32A which is the correct setting the Clipper Creek charger should tell your car is the max allowed amps.

unusual outlet for EV charging, what do I need here?

That is an adapter from 5-15 plug to a 6-20 socket only for the Aeroviroment TurboCord. Behind it there is only a normal 15A 120V outlet. The TurboCord can run on both 120 and 240V.

    J3068 - 3 Phase A/C Charging for North America

In Europe it's the same Type2 plug used for both AC charging and supercharging. We have an extensive and still expanding Supercharger network in Europe. First locations opened in August 2013 in Norway. The charger in Model S and X is the same hardware in both 48A and 72A version. It is only...

    J3068 - 3 Phase A/C Charging for North America

At least for the Model X and facelift Model S, they all use the same charger in the car in both US and Europe. It consists of 3 modules capable of 24A max each. In the US they are connected in parallel to get a max of 72A at 240V, and in Europe they are connected in a star/wye config for 3x24A...

Different Tesla Chargers in North America and Europe

It is the same charger in both US and EU cars since Model X and facelift Model S - the 16.5kW charger. They are all 3 modules at max 24A. In the US they are connected in parallel, and in the EU in wye for 400V 3-phase.

Front parkings sensors sees ghost object and door sensors don't see anything

I got my Model X 100D three weeks ago, and the last week and a half the two center front parking sensors see something close to the car. So when I put the car in drive or reverse, the picture of the car and parking sensors show up with the STOP symbol and red line close to the front. And of...
