Yes I have, when I changed every interior trim part on my X for the graphite version. You have to remove the door sill trims (both front and rear) and pull out the rubber seal to be able to pull away the B pillar trim - I didn’t remove it completely but pulled it out enough to get to the 2 torx...
All customer direct parts can be ordered via
[email protected] (really helpful guys) - if you need direct SC contact info, the best source I’ve found is here: Useful local UK contact information
I agree ref. it most likely being the car (the second half of the onboard charger) but worth double checking with another car - had this on mine and it was actually the charger (also thinking about SC wait times).
Don’t think 330e will help as pretty sure they’re 3.7kW max.
Do you know anyone else with a Tesla or something like a Zoe capable of 7kW+ charging? To absolutely rule out the charger (or wiring to the charger) being the issue I’d try that first, as quite simple to narrow it down from there.
It could be the car (as the onboard charger does split to 16A...
Thanks, ended up taking the car apart again to look at the logs - the car does use the B pillars, but it was the tricam additional cameras it wasn’t happy about, and totally my mistake/screw up in not keeping the existing mounting plate when I swapped them. The salvage car it came from must have...
Definitely not correct. Swapped between them on mine, and verygreen covered it a while back: https://twitter.com/greentheonly/status/1318219138188312577?s=20
Thanks, but already done - 2020.36.11 update installed after swap, but no change. Dashcam and Sentry footage is a huge improvement and it chimes on green lights so pretty sure tricam is working.
Does anyone know whether it is the B pillars that are the “additional cameras” it mentions?
Have an AP2.0 car now with HW3 retrofit. Have upgraded front tri-cam (1120520-00-B) repeater cams (1125107-00-E & 1125106-00-E), pillar cams (1069104-00-D) - basically all AP2.5 versions. However calibration won’t complete, it went to 99% (additional cameras calibrating) and after 150+ miles has...
Have you ever had your MCU replaced under warranty? I know of one instance where the SC transferred the odometer value across in km instead of miles when doing a swap.
Confirmed here also in the UK - tuner retrofit will be offered alongside MCU2 very soon, and also as a separate retrofit later if people don’t have it done at the same time as MCU2.
I am still very intrigued as to how they are going to do it, e.g. use a new custom harness as we’ve done with our...
Don’t worry, they’re going to offer the tuner as a retrofit option both as a separate item after MCU2 retrofit, as well as at the same time as MCU2 retrofit.
Yes, my MCU1 was failing (replacement cost at the time was over £2k), car was/is out of warranty, and I was lucky to find MCU2/IC2/Tuner2 from a salvage yard for a decent price. It was hard though.
Also gave me chance to change all the internal silver trim over to the new graphite (there’s a...
I’ve done the MCU2 retrofit on my car and the DAB tuner change is really difficult to do, especially on Model X - Tesla would also need to develop/manufacture a tuner conversion harness and run it through the dash as the existing harness won’t work, so a lot of labour required.
I imagine...
I don’t think you can tell people that at this point. I’ve actually done the MCU2 upgrade from MCU1 on my car in the UK - DAB is definitely not built into the MCU2 hardware so would not automatically be included in the main MCU swap. It is a separate piece of hardware mounted above the driver’s...
I don’t think this is correct. If Europe follows the US then they will not upgrade the tuner which is a separate bit of hardware mounted above the footwell kickpanel (the MCU1 tuner will not work with MCU2)... so no DAB, FM or AM - they explicitly disable the tuner in the car config.
In the...
In Europe (not sure about the US but can’t see why it would be different?) the mounting bracket is physically part of tuner2 and I can’t see how the two could be separated as they’re (sort of) riveted together. If Tesla supply it over here, it is definitely one integrated part if that helps at...
I don’t believe so. I tried to schedule it via the app a few months ago and was told it was US only for the time being, and would most likely be available later in the year in Europe and the UK. Unfortunately my MCU1 was failing so ended up retrofitting MCU2 from a scrapped car myself (with a...
@sclo I’d highly recommend @LuckyLuke‘s (LaadKabelWinkel) services in replacing the eMMC (no affiliation) - also if you are anywhere around the Midlands and are stuck in removing the MCU just drop me a PM if you want a (socially distanced!) helping hand.
I think if someone had told me how to do it, it would only have taken 30-40 minutes. Must say I would have missed not having it (plus I use FM plus RDS to get audio and now playing data from my AppleTV via @bearbu’s HDMI adaptor).
This is where the tuner is on MX for info:
If US Model X’s have the same tuner location/area as EU/UK ones then it is very difficult to swap out tuner1 to tuner2, totally different to Model S - I can definitely see why Tesla don’t want the hassle of doing it, especially for cars with Premium Audio (the amp sits behind the tuner on the...
Having just done the MCU2 retrofit myself with a huge amount of help from a couple of members on here, I also made up a harness for tuner2 and can verify the pinout/connections from Teslatap do work (caveat: I created mine with the help of @kdday prior to the Teslatap article so it doesn't...
Purchased a UMC extension cable from them about 2 years ago along with various adaptors - has been flawless since and the cable/connectors very good quality - use them regularly. Would highly recommend them.
Many thanks - have now tried every which way but can't get the easyjtag plus with ISP to read the emmc, CMD timeout error continously. I know @LuckyLuke has got it to work with this hardware (and has been really helpful in trying to diagnose the issue for me) - has anybody else and is willing to...
Could I ask a really simple basic question - I thought I knew the answer but have now read so much online I’ve confused myself. Have an easyjtag plus box with 1-bit ISP adaptor but need to use an external regulated bench PSU to power the eMMC on the Tegra board (as it only seems to be 2.6V at...
