Car seats and booster seats 3 in a row

I really struggled to find 3x boosters that were narrow enough to fit in the my Model 3 backseat. I agree, it will be near impossible for the kids to climb in and buckle / unbuckle. What I did, is install all 3 and left them buckled and made the kids climb in the seats and pull the seatbelts...

    ‘18 M3 noise — control arm issue?

Does the noise go away when you lightly press on the brakes. The repeating squeaking pattern sounds like brake pads on the disk (piston may be sticky and not have retracted fully). One thing you might try is go out to a nice open road, and re-bed in the brakes. There are different...

2018 M3 No Longer Under Warranty - Big Crack in Rear Window Noticed - Tesla Costs?

I just scheduled an appointment with Tesla service center to get my back glass replaced due to impact damage and crack propagating. The quote I received was $837 ($531 Parts + $306 Labor). I have comprehensive insurance so only $100 out of pocket. Eric

    Why 42 PSI ?

Semi trucks, heavy duty vehicles, or RV's, the pressure is determined by tire load chart and axle weight measured from a scale (this applies to all vehicles, but heavy duty vehicles have potential for much larger range of tire loading (moving van vs 80k lbs tractor trailer). So, one would...

    Bumper removal

You can look at sites like e-trailer (or other you-tube sites) for hitch installs on Tesla as they all require the rear bumper to be removed and show videos of each step that include sensor connectors. For bumper sensors, no need to cut power to the car, just disconnect and reconnect.

    Trailer Hitch for M3

I second the Stealth Hitch. It is very well designed and has 2" receiver. They have an installer list on their website, but like mentioned above, it is a pretty easy install that most shops can do without worrying about them messing something up. Lots of options for bike racks, but as...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

I give up. The stealth hitch design is identically to the model 3 hitch in Europe (look at the designs online). 6 bolts flat plate with vertical receiver and horizontal 2" square inserted into vertical receiver. Once again vertical weight is INCORRECT value. It has to be tied with a center...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

Hitch manufactures never spec vertical weight / torque or whatever you are trying to imply, They only spec tongue weight. You are saying there is a limit of "vertical load" but that value is irrelevant without a distance (torque). You understand you putting 100lbs 3 inches from the car vs 3...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

Also, I am trying to ask you (and you have not replied I absolutely know what I am talking about. Go to the Stealth Hitch Website (2017-2022 Tesla Model 3) and it states the "Rack Receiver Capacity is 350lbs". Yes, I understand that vertical and torque arm physics come into play, but that is...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

I own a stealth hitch and installed it myself. It is also rated at 350 lbs in rack mode. Please explain why you think it will not meet its rating. If you look at the Tesla site weight rating is dependent on the tire selection. The performance has 55kg rating with 2 adults and 1/2 that with...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

I hear that 10-15% on all the towing forms all the time with absotuly nothing to back it up. Engineers design these specs with design margin so that you can use 100% of the specified value. The stealth hitch is the same design held in by 6x large bolts with metal frame and has a rack...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

So you are saying exceeding the weight by 7 lbs is an accident waiting to happen? I promise, there is a much greater safety margin put in place on the hitch. Not saying you should throw a 250 motorcycle on a carrier on the back, but this does not appear to be significantly overloaded. If you...

Ordered M3P coming from FBO E85 Golf R...hope the Model 3 can check the same boxes

From my experience in driving my Model 3 (LR no Performance) for the past few years I think it depends based on what you truly enjoy about driving a car. The comments above are spot on, it will pretty much out perform, out handle, out accelerate in all real world cases (and most all on track...

Suggestions for towing 2 ebikes with model 3 LR

Sure it is. Putting weight out for sure puts additional torsion on the hitch, but you have to understand that hitch ratings are not coming specifically from the hitch itself. First, it You are 100% correct, but also, as mentioned before, 1000s upon 1000's of folks have been towing their bikes...

Suggestions for towing 2 ebikes with model 3 LR

What is your specific safety concern about the weight of the hitch? Steath hitch 2" rack mount has a weight limit of 350lbs which is pretty standard for Class 2 hitch found on small SUV and minivans. Plus, the stealth hitch mounting points are spread out across the entire back of the car and...

    Airstream/Thor introduce the eStream concept

It seems like a interesting concept with a lot of potential, and Airstream is typically quite a bit better in design build quality. But, Thor on the other hand is the bottom of the dumpster in ability to design and assemble a coach. Their build and electronics quality is scary to the fact...

iPhone X malfunction, can't start car

I have found my iPhone key performance spotty at best. For whatever reason it asks for my key card at random times (not that often, but enough to be irritating). I would NEVER trust this car with my phone only. I always carry my key for that very reason. Eric

    Model 3 with kids

Our kids are older now (10, 7, 5, 5), but I fit 4 kids in the car to take them to school. The youngest 3 are in boosters, so I have purchased the narrowest ones possible. I just buckle all 3 seats in myself without the kids in the car, then pull the slack out in the seatbelts, then jump in and...

If you had to go back to ICE, what would you choose?

I would also vote for a Hellcat with a manual. That supercharger whine sounds soooo awesome. Plus, big and comfortable for the commute and can fit 3 kids in the back. It was in my short list of cars before I picked up my model 3.

New Model 3 owner - Bay Area

Before I purchased my new Model 3 Dual Motor I ready many posts in this forum that were helpful in understanding the car and ordering. Now I am a new owner of a Blue Model 3. I never would have thought I would be the owner of an electric vehicle as I have always loved fast turbo cars...
