    Supercharger - Coquitlam, BC

If someone has the time they should ring up bchydro and pester them for info on the power connection. From what I know there's a huge backlog on transformers right now

    Supercharger - Coquitlam, BC

Some info for reference: Abbotsford SC took about 2 weeks from the fence going on to be activated, and was on the navigation after ~4 days of being on (mar 2020). West Kelowna finished construction Dec 23, 2020, but wasn't activated until Mar 4, 2021. So it could be a while. Last time I was...

    Supercharger - Coquitlam, BC

I honestly doubt they will ice it as much once they are on. They have no the stalls are off so they just look like wasted parking

    Supercharger - Coquitlam, BC

Just plugged in my car but no good, the power isn't turned on yet. But any day now!

    Western Canada Superchargers

I ended up having to go through Lillooet to Kamloops, and continuing to Vernon with a friend leaving the car to charge in Kamloops. I cursed BC Hydro's name every second I spent charging in Lillooet, though I can't say enough good things about the people who own the charger there.

    Western Canada Superchargers

Let's be a little more optimistic, BC Hydro will get their **** together and be done by Nov. 1. I may be biased because I'm traveling down to Vernon on the 1st but oh well.

    Canadian Superchargers

It's unfortunate, but people like this do exist. Though I should mention I've only seen a non Tesla parked in the reserved stalls four times, including this one. Good news is that I charged at 614km/hr the other day, I bet you can just taste it over in Cornwall now!

    Canadian Superchargers

Where did you hear about Canmore? I ask because I hope it's not true, a SC in Golden first would be much better for immediate use of the Vancouver<->Calgary route.

    Canadian Superchargers

Thats great news about the Kamloops SC! did they mention anything about the permitting process? Also I believe it's time to split this thread into East Coast/ West Coast or add a Canadian section under charging standards and infrastructure. Mods?

    Canadian Superchargers

I was going with the assumption that one would be added in Meritt so that we could have one on either side of both the connector and the Coquihalla. That route is hell in the winter and will be hard on the battery. Kelowna also seems like more of a destination to me and not quite the right...

    Tesla Model 3 P+ vs BMW M3?

Perhaps the Saleen version of the Model 3 will be the M3 destroying, track killing beast people seem to be craving. Personally I don't think Tesla would go down this route unless they come up with their own racing development team similar to AMG, M, SRT and the likes.

    Annual Service?

It's having it done annually that doesnt sit right with me. The service itself is important, but my car was just in for service one month ago and a number of issues were fixed which they themselves noticed. Since the warranty isn't affected by annual service then why try to fix something that...

    Canadian Superchargers

Would a SC in Vernon fit the bill for the Okanagan? I know the owner of the new Fairfield Mariott there would be ecstatic to lend the required parking spaces to Tesla and the location is near lots of restaurants.
  14. VCanucks

    Annual Service?

I'm wondering where everyone sits in regards to annual servicing, to me it seems silly considering the car was sold under the ideal that electric cars have no maintenance. However I still plan to get the service done every two years.

    Canadian Superchargers

Thanks for the info! I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure over the year. You're forgetting the best part, I'll be enjoying my free drives!

Press and hold the home and lock buttons simultaneously and it should take a screenshot on any device running iOS. I started my charge at 66km and it slowly crept up in km/hr, if i'm ever below 50km I'll pay attention to the kw rate.
  17. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

Well thats not normal. /pun I was at the Squamish Supercharger today with a low charge to attempt to get a high km/hr and this was the highest I saw.

    Model X apps

XBMC/Netflix button would make charge times irrelevant
  19. VCanucks

    Model X apps

I was looking at the Model X page and noticed that it shows seven apps compared to the six in the Model S, any ideas what that is or why it's there? Sorry if this has already been posted but I couldn't find anything on it.

    Canadian Superchargers

It's definitely getting a lot of use and thats great! Seems like a lot of people from the lower mainland are swinging by to get a charge, and people here are baffled as to how we pay to use them :P. Does anyone know the highest recorded kw that a MS has charged at?
  21. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

I was 5km short of a daily charge when I plugged in unfortunately, it was mostly for the picture. As soon as I can get the battery depleted I'll post a km/hr and kw reading however any other ways to see if it's a 120kw or 135kw cabinet without having a second tesla on hand? I'm assuming it was...

    Canadian Superchargers

First charging picture wooooooooooo, sad that they didn't put signage up yet. Half of the spots were ICE'd but I doubt they properly understood what the spots were for, a number of people started to pull in, saw me charging, then parked elsewhere.

    Canadian Superchargers

So it is bringing it down to 480 from 600, but I couldn't get a picture as they're busy fencing it up with wood

Ah it's less than than a 10 min walk, also nearby is sushi sen which has really good sushi.

    Canadian Superchargers

I'll swing by the site today and ask them that, and see if they'll let me take a picture of the label as well for KenN. I honestly live less than 5 minutes away haha.

The stall are pretty now and pouring concrete appears to be almost done. Got a shot of where the electrical magic is in relation to the parking lot, right next to the garbage bins.
  27. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

Fair enough, but if it was for west coast purposes, does Tesla roll them out as they go along the route to make a comfortable amount or make it possible (with superchargers) before making it comfortable. Also, Page 100 of this thread first or Supercharger #100 in NA first?
  28. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

It'd be nice if they rolled out the chargers with a little more purpose, ie with a charger in Squamish everyone from Vancouver can leave Squamish quickly with a full range charge and go to Kamloops via Lillooet. From there a charger in Kamloops and Golden would make Calgary easily accessible...

    Canadian Superchargers

They are busy working today (Sunday) and have begun assembling the hardware that goes in the "cabinet". The picture doesn't show it very clearly but the area where the actual chargers are has now been filled in. I'll keep posting updates as I see them.

    18" wheels

I don't know anything about getting 18" on a MS but if you're looking for better traction in the snow, a narrower tire will perform better than one with thicker rubber. This is because it will cut to the bottom rather than sit on top of snow and this can be achieved with 19" wheels.
  31. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

Went by today (July 3rd for reference) and took some pictures, the frames are up for all 6 stalls now. Saw a Tesla pulling in as I left, was it anyone here?
  32. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

That would be helpful for estimating new sites, the Squamish site was approved on May 27th, and ground was broken on June 17th. Soon we'll have a number for the time a supercharger takes to build in Canada, assuming a difference from American ones.
  33. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

Though i'd rather have the Cup than a supercharger, this is what we got . I swung by the site the other day and they've brought the Tesla hardware to the site. These pictures don't really do justice to how much stuff there is and its pretty damn big. I forgot to take a picture of it...

    Canadian Superchargers

Yup that was most likely me driving around, and I made the trip to Calgary from Squamish and it wasn't hard at all. Check out the Vancouver-Alberta thread, lots of good info in there for doing the trip with no superchargers.

    Vancouver to Alberta Trip Planning

I actually went to Vernon on the way back from Calgary, I recommend charging in Golden as little as possible so that you can charge more in Sicamous before finishing the trek to Vernon or Kelowna because Sicamous charges faster than Golden. In Vernon the charging option after hours is the...

    Canadian Superchargers

That wouldn't make much sense IMHO since Lake Louise and Golden are just 83 km apart. I took the picture off the Tesla website and colored in the pixels that were for the Trans Canada in a darker color, its rough but judging by the curves in the road and comparing to a detailed map, Lake Louise...

    Vancouver to Alberta Trip Planning

There is a cs100 at the visitor center in Sicamous I'd recommend charging at to reduce the time spent in Golden, the charger in Golden has a max output of 66 km/hr due to lower voltage (195V 69A). The Best Western in Sicamous is strictly guests only, unlike the the Holiday Inn in Kamloops where...

    Canadian Superchargers

Back from my trip to Calgary now, while charging in Golden I took a look at the supercharger map and it seems to me that its planned more in the lake Louise/Banff area rather than Golden. Are there any permits or rumors to what city its planned for? Also where is it said that Squamish will have...

    Canadian Superchargers

There was one white P85 with Washington plates there when we arrived, but no one else came during our 35min stay. I could definitely use the Alberta line right about now, hopefully they'll be up by next summer.

    Canadian Superchargers

Accepting the fact that it's not my personal supercharger, the main purpose of the one here is to all people from Seattle to go to Whistler. I recall hearing it as "with superchargers now you can go far north past Seattle and soon all the way to Whistler, Canada". Taking that into...

    Canadian Superchargers

@canuck This is literally day one of construction, there was nothing here yesterday. And when I was there it didn't look like the spot for the actual chargers had been started, though I expect that to change in the next week.

    Canadian Superchargers

It's time we all relax! Well, at least here on the west coast where Squamish has broken ground! I was driving by today and I saw construction other than the Starbucks renovation at the electrical box where i suspected that the charger will be located by. Speaking to some of the folks working...

    My Plasti Dip experiment

I've had plastic dip on my wrx for a while now so I can help answer questions. It peels off really easily, its much easier to just spray more and peel it off than to mask some of the harder parts. After about a week its set well enough to pressure wash! But yet you can still peel it easily...

As soon as there is progress at the Squamish site I'll post it on here. I usually go past it every other day or so, and as of yesterday still nothing. But looks like that might change soon :)

    When Will Canada Have Superchargers?

Do we know if the west coast or east coast charger will go online first? This is of course assuming that the news from Cal is running on Tesla time, and that Tesla is impartial to west coast>east coast. :)
  47. VCanucks

    Canadian Superchargers

Unless the Supercharger can be delivered via UPS, the Squamish site has no visible progress as of today. As for what the hold up is, my best guess (other than the BC Hydro stuff I mentioned earlier) is to blame Harper, Clark, or both :P.

I understand the idea that guests get priority and that's how it should be, but refusing an overnight charge even though I promised to come unplug it asap if a guest was to arrive seems silly. For the most part I wish there were standardized rules for the sun country chargers, that way you...

    Vancouver to Alberta Trip Planning

The charger at the Holiday Inn in Kamloops is not available for overnight parking unless you're a guest. The space needs to be kept empty in the event that a guest shows up at 2am with an electric car and nowhere to go, cause we all know that happens daily.
