    Solved: wind noise

All, I have wanted to post this earlier, but couldn't find the time... Some background: I have done all of the suggested mods for decreasing the A Pillar to windshield wind noise and all of them have helped to varying degrees to make the ambient noise in the car much more tolerable. As I had...

    Solved: wind noise

I tried to do this again and it was stretched so thin that it cracked at the spot I tried to spudger it in, haha! That said, I actually got some 2mm solid rubber tubing from McMasters? and it fit in well. May try to get the 3mm since the 4mm round was too big. My mirror space must be very...

    Solved: wind noise

On the mirror, I tried to fit the wind noise reduction tubing for the top glass into the underside mirror gap but it was too big. What type of material did you use? Link if possible? Thanks! AP

    Solved: wind noise

You're killing me man! LOL. That was just a 20min experiment trying to diagnose potentials for wind turbulence...or are you being facetious and encouraging me to start a trend? :) Maybe from your perspective...I loved my RS3 and miss it still - would welcome the opportunity to drive it for...

    Solved: wind noise

To be clear, most of the wind noise now is directed about the top of the windshield - both at the junction of the windshield to "sunroof" At the A pillar and and across to the passenger side. Not sure if that air stream can be modified... AP

Downsized M3 Performance to 18 inch wheels

I like the look and am contemplating the 18s as well - but i think what would really set this right is it being lowered to minimize that SUV like gap. AP

Yup! I forgot to mention that I noticed this since I was driving today with the windows down and decided to clean my windshield and a lot of windshield cleaner got in on the drivers door! AP

    Solved: wind noise

All, OKay folks, Here is a list of all my wind noise/buffeting modifications to reduce this issue: 1 - Filled the A pillar at the hood as OP suggested 2 - Filled under the fender to A pillar 3 - Filled door jam to A pillar with the 4" foam suggested by Arctic Sun 4 - Gapped the A pillar to...

    Solved: wind noise

Also, do you folks know if the proper position of the plastic clip from underneath the windshield to the A pillar is to be "tucked" into the A pillar or does it come out on top of it? AP

    Solved: wind noise

Oh no doubt! Took that blue strip to work to test but really isn't a good sound barrier... Sugru - Ive got some in a small pack, but not ever having used it before, how much would you recommend to cover that length in the picture on both sides? I'll try it out soon... Thank you, AP

Missing my ICE car. . .

Yes I agree with you - pecking at the screen is my major concern over the UI, so much so that I bought that tilt screen from Tech Forum which helps a bit. However I get a lot of flack from this thought process, but I really do like Apple Play in the sense that if I like my phone connected to my...

Missing my ICE car. . .

I agree 100% with the OP original post (aside from the removable top and manual) in that I miss my RS3 daily. I was in the same boat with my wife saying that I couldn't have both and had to go one way or the other...Things I miss in particular are the 5 pot note, the fit and finish of that car...

    Solved: wind noise

Ritz, I do remember that back and forth convo... I'm under the impression that these panel gaps are sealed throughout many manufacturers and many panels, no more obvious than with that model Y foam fail previously mentioned in this thread. In particular with our A Pillar, I am also under the...

    Solved: wind noise

PNW, Great post man, this definitely makes more sense than mine...I'll do my best to match I would say I re did the OPs idea, but not only blocked this region, but shoved the Polyethylene foam UP into the A pillar instead of just plugging the 3 entry points you mentioned below. I did what the...

    Solved: wind noise

All, I re arranged the A pillar foam seal and had time to investigate the wheel well area as well at that time. In inspecting that wheel well region, it definitely opens up to the base of the A pillar; however, I have a question regarding this.... Do you all think that the opening from the...

    Solved: wind noise

Azgood, I didn't notice much of a difference with the first two pictures on putting that P trim into the open channel of the OEM trim (i.e. first two pictures). This, along with blocking of the A - Pillar rules out the A pillar and the OEM rubber window seal as the source for me. As for the...

Awesome! Please share some pics on where you're referencing? As for me, Im almost resigned to thinking design flaw with respect to the slight wind buffeting at the drivers ear above 70+mph after the plugging of the A pillar at the hood hack. Ive plugged the hollow drivers side trim at the...

    Solved: wind noise

All, For reference, I have blocked the A pillar entrance like above and that has made a world of difference; however, I am still getting that above the ear wind noise which apparent at about 75mph + that is subtle, but can be described as almost like cross wind sound (despite no breeze or...

Blocking or covering the air vent output?

Awesome product, thank you! just a quick question, I’m usually decently mechanically inclined but I’m not sure how this piece fits in exactly. Is it a tolerance issue? Or am i totally missing something? I’ve attached a pic for review. Any help is appreciated.

    Solved: wind noise

grmdl3 I get it man. I was just thinking that with the CCF/MLV that if I couldn't block the air from entering then maybe I could block that sound from getting into the cabin. When I wired my radar detector and taking my door panel off to fix a rattle, there were some holes in the frame which...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

All, Please bear with me as I couldn't effectively comb the 124 pages in this post, but was wondering if there is a reason most folks go with aftermarket wheels at 19" (or even 20"s) and not 18"s? I've noticed that most of the 18" wheels are mainly for the winter setups but then folks switch...

    Solved: wind noise

I have a related question for you all, I did the "sponge in the A Pillar" idea and it has dramatically reduced my wind noise about the A pillar. However, now that wind turbulence is directly noted at the top of the Windshield where it meets the "sunroof" glass. I am one of those unfortunate...

Yellow Screen border, poor quality & workmanship, and poor customer service -- Arbitration

Funny you mention this, as I have had numerous trim issues with my Model 3 December 2019 build, one of which was a misaligned trunk The SC noted that they fixed the misalignment to the degree that it wasn't rubbing paint on closure, touched up that paint rub point and confirmed proper trunk...

I would've been okay with the price increase too - but in my area, I can get the silver wheels powder coated, in the color AND finish of my choice along with a CERAMIC coating for about $750! To me, Id get a better finish, paint protection and save $250... Moot point now I guess! Thankfully. AP

I think its awesome too - However, I recall powder coating my RS3 wheels which cost about $850 along with a ceramic coating. It seems that it may be a better deal to get the chrome wheels and aftermarket powder coat them. Not only would you save $150 but you could both get the wheels ceramic...
