My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

May be not directly relevant, but I just did a section 75 on something unrelated, and found that there is no firm timescale for a response or resolution. Ombudsman had to get involved, but even they were not clear about timescales.

OTA updates. Friend or foe? Who's car is it any way?

Absolutely. I don't understand how this hasn't caused a much bigger outcry. I'm still there too. But was denied warranty service and also denied the drunk latch recall on the grounds that I had not complied with warranty conditions. I have now started to notice some stuff inexplicably not...

2021 Model X, Monroney Sticker Range Increase

My interest was got S not X but never really felt I got a clear answer. I think my S has F, and believe there was very little real world difference with later rev batteries.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

My first 'Signed For' / recorded delivery was never acknowledged. I sent copy special delivery to Manchester and it prompted a response.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

I'll add my pat on the back for @edb49. It's coming to the time that my patience has run out. Not just over non-fsd, but the endless regressions and evidence that my model S was never and most likely will never even be Full Self Driving Capable let alone actually self drive in any meaningful...

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

I think that applies to most camera related issues. I had to fight like crazy to get a service request to stick. They just got cancelled, often without further contact from Tesla. Both Nottingham and Sheffield centres say they want full details and to pursue the matter higher up, but I really...

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

This is a big issue. And Tesla have no answer. Condensation happens. It comes and goes during normal diving. It messes up AP and causes unpredictable behaviour. Other than the ambiguous non-specic messages that something is wrong, you have no idea if there is condensation so you can't know what...

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

No signs. No cars. Nothing. Just open road. Only shows line if at least tacc active. It's the randomness of all this that really bugs me. In the case of that photo, with nothing vaguely present that could be visually misinterpreted, the car came to a complete stop such was it's certainty!
  10. Battpower

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

Not entirely related to AP alone, but I am getting really concerned about a side effect of never ending software 'updates'. Having decided to stick on 20.8, I still get a staggering array of issues that I haven't noticed previously. I drove a couple of hundred miles today and had multiple...

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

Agree. Having driven in West Coast USA the road layouts and conventions have many fundamental differences. I believe these are the root of some of the anomalies we see in the UK. I have by chance experienced and documented a lengthy period over a day of driving where condensation appearing and...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Just a thought.... reading all these stories about charging over night or at other off peak times etc. How on earth does the network know what is essential real time demand vs highly discretionary / opportunistic battery charging? I wonder if they can be sure that one customer's battery / PV...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

10 year data for the oldest part of my system. 6kwp of built-in panels, so not especially efficient, and certainly not compared with best panels available today. System cost (excluding panel install which was part of new build roof) approx £3000 inverter, £3500 batteries, £8500 panels =£15000...

Ripple Energy: "shared solar" -- views?

I'm sure you aren't! So for me the focus is on the value of generation I CAN put to good use between Sept and March. What happens the the surplus over summer is academic since I can't make use of it. In fact, storing in batteries over summer is not so useful since days are long, nights short...

Ripple Energy: "shared solar" -- views?

Certainly based on permitted development size, it's not very attractive. You evidently figure export benefits in your reckoning while I don't care about export at all. Partly because I'm on deemed export but mainly because it's something I can't control. My home has a steady draw of 4-500 watts...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

My post was ambiguous.... I was thinking that if you add up all energy for many homes (gas, electric, vehicle) you will struggle to generate enough from a typical roof area. I hope that you are correct that eventually there is a pricing mechanism that pays for export based on time. However, I...

Ripple Energy: "shared solar" -- views?

I was quite hopeful (for Ripple) at first. I wanted specifically to balance my existing solar with some wind, and thanks to some really stupid planning rules, I can't put up my own wind turbine! Main issues already posted by others. Inflexible regarding suppliers and tariffs, no wind project...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Your memory is too good! I am so fed up with batting my head against the DNO for permission to connect bigger than 7.6kw of grid-tie that I am seriously looking at off grid with minimal grid support. I am also working on an eco tourism project (100 x 450w panels) and also looking at some R&D...

    FSD Ripoff or Not?

HW4 / heated b-pillar cams pretty much says any camera based systems are never going to perform adequately on HW3 platform. Even basic tacc / radar no longer works if visibility compromised. (radar disabled) Not even the prospect of FSD for me in UK as far as I can see. Any dreams now dead.

Seeking advice on purchase of a UK Model S (motors and batteries replaced)

I'm in the UK. I'd suggest that in reality, the fact that those items have been replaced makes little or no difference. I'd want to see the car's service history just like for any other car and Tesla history / work record should be available in the current owner's phone app. There are lots of...

    Major Phantom Braking Issues

Late to this particular pb thread. Only just started reading, but I have to give a big YES to this ^^^^ I'm stuck on last fw with radar enabled. FSD Beta in the UK?

I disagree. As soon as I use a/c (in Tesla only, other EV's no problem) I get huge swings in humidity. I've had the inside of the windscreen / shield dripping with condensation on one occasion. There is no humidy issue causing any condensation on inside of glass..... except b-pillar cams. I...

    FSD Beta in the UK?

Neither is the hardware. I drove my MS R from Derby to Sunderland and back the other day and it was the worst (most frustrating) experience since owning the car. Clear, dry weather, sunny / broken cloud, around 10 to 12 degrees. I noticed when I started out that there was a bit of condensation...

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

What strikes me as odd in UK is that 'old' 'FSD in beta' [as apposed to fsd-beta-city streets] is not completely inhibited on any roads - making it the driver's responsibility to ensure compliance and safe operation. So how would it be a retrograde step to allow, for example, better speed...

    Impressions After Month 1

Humidity management has been a huge issue for my MS and many owners report bad smells and mould issues. Newer (electric) cars from other manufacturers monitor humidity and have auto purge cycles. Do recent Tesla models have similar?
  29. Battpower

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

The 'window of confidence' I was referring to would be evidenced by the fact that driving along a street you (human) could probably blink your eyes shut for 1 second out of 3 in some situations without compromising safety, because you know what's possible given what you see at any given moment...
  30. Battpower

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

Lol. What is most frustrating in UK is why Tesla have never delivered any benefits of the FSD City behaviour. Here the car does not intelligently change speed at all. Speed limit says 60mph...... drive at 60! Sharp bend ahead, if the speed limit says 50, must be OK to go 50. Has single stack...
  31. Battpower

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

I was focusing purely on the idea that one approach (MB) at least embraces the idea that the car needs to be aware in advance of a situation such that auto control can't be maintained. Tesla's implementations seem fundamentally schizophrenic lurching from 'total confidence' to 'total colapse'...
  32. Battpower

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

Of course. Hence different opinions as to if FSD has in any way been delivered outside of NA. I hear rumours of testing in Europe but seen no hard evidence of anything significant. If Tesla are ditching HW3 then I reckon FSD Beta or equivalent will never be delivered to existing Euro / UK FSD...
  33. Battpower

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

As a gullible UK FSD owner, I have yet to see any evidence that Tesla has made any serious effort to address regulatory challenges. For 6 months of the year my car often has blinded or fogged up b-pillar cams, so at best it might deliver some kind of FSD half of the year. It has yet to self...
  34. Battpower

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

This is a major factor to consider. Within the next 10 seconds your car will no longer be able to take responsibility for it's safe progress along the highway. Tesla's version is 'your car lost the plot a moment ago, we never claimed it could fully do anything and you (the driver) were always...

Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

Yes, just use navigation and energy graph. It is very good and shows exactly where you are at energy wise. My repeated point that doesn't disagree with OP is why not make the range display by default a more useful, intelligence based figure? It could easily link to driver profile too and would...

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/should-tesla-break-out-of-warranty-cars-with-software-updates.260591/ I hadn't really considered this issue. Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

At least you have FSD beta over there. In UK we got nothing and now HW4 makes it super likely we will see no further progress with HW3, except for turning off stuff like radar that they couldn't get working properly.
  39. Battpower

OTA updates. Friend or foe? Who's car is it any way?

And wasn't Windows 10 to be the final version? It's all smoke and mirrors. Pending HW4 will be an attempt to put the current mess behind them. That's a lot of customers been done over. The 'recall' will hopefully force some real fixes.
  40. Battpower

    HW3 to HW4 Upgrade

Like all the surplus / redundant processing power that guaranteed HW3 was self driving capable and also future proof? I really do not get why all the development that has made FSD beta 'so good' in the US hasn't found its way onto UK cars. OK, so no real self driving, but at least deliver to UK...

Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

Indeed it should. I have driven my Hyundai quite a lot this winter and the displaid range figures are accurate and in line with or better than the claimed range even in cold weather. Turning on the cabin heater for example immediately reflects in the range display. The MS R on the other hand...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Hmm. In the context of Tesla and VO this makes perfect sense. In the real world it's either raining or not and either the human driver or other device is going to / needs to wipe.... or not. I suppose that if you place a higher level of trust in one sensor vs another.... you'd still probably...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

I am in this camp - based on my own experience that suggests the camera solution 'doesn't work' to the extent that it might 'do something' but what it does is neither good enough nor as good as other established alternative designs. I haven't really picked up a common theme among owners...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

.... while, back at the ranch, both b-pillars are either blinded or fogged up and the trunk cam covered in cr*p with no sign of concern or remedy? Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

I totally get your frustration. What is the useful purpose of a range indicator that mindlessly bases its reading on unrealistic data? Hence most sensible advice is to switch to percentage view and forget about indicated distance. Thankfully the energy graph paints a more useful picture of...

Wh/km (or mi) / range grossly mis-advertised, if not fraudulent... srsly.

The issue I see is that there is not really a 'standard' way of stating range that is also useful and meaningful in all situations. This applies to ICE vehicles just the same, but is perceived as less of an issue - at least partly due to the baseline efficiency being much worse. However, EV's...
