my new CF splitter, grill and wing

thanks for the link. Sorry I don't have more info. I don't work for them. just a business neighbor. Had them installed on my Tesla. I don't know too much about price (they gave me a discount for being one of beta testers) nor stock factory spoiler size (mine never came with it). I will...

my new CF splitter, grill and wing

got these from APR. they are my neighbor (their office is in same business park), so I had them installed. these are off their site, but it is my car that they fitted on. I like them. wing a little understated...

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV - Bridger Ave.

just did my first LA to Vegas trip this weekend in my 85 both ways, Barstow were full. luckily the wait was minimal. Barstow to Vegas, had only 20 miles left on the range. driving a little slower than traffic (80mph), started with 255 miles. this bugs me a bit. that means if I want to keep...

Plan B? Charging between Barstow and Las Vegas

Newbie Question: Air Suspension vs Standard

middle high physics will tell you that is not possible. same car, no matter what size tires you run will have same contact patch everything else being equal. it is the shape of the contact patch that determines mpg, handling, etc....not the size of contact patches.

    P+ Dead in Garage

I believe op got end of quarter QC - mad dash, get as many cars out the door to please Wall Street. I got mine at end of Q1, it was a crazy to get tons of cars out, this is same thing happening again, but Q2. Mine had some QC issues, similar to this.

    19" Tire Recommendations

2 days after I got my S, I bought Bridgestone S04 to replace the Goodyear.....much better performance, but a bit loud. I am selling my Goodyear OEM for $400...200 miles old.
  14. B

    Active Air vs. Standard Suspension

you are comparing different tires, which is most significant aspect of handling. as per your #5, "loose" is a good thing, means less understeer, which Tesla S has a ton of.... most important of all.....not sure how you got a loaner P85 with standard suspension (didn't know those...

getting hand caught while door handle retracts ?

I have gotten my hand almost caught while door handle was retracting. I said "almost", so my hand cleared pretty fast, that I didn't know how much pressure it puts on the hand. I have 2 little kids, so just wondering what the force of door handle motors are ? or if anybody have gotten their...

Would 19" tires perform better than 21"s on a P85?

something to clear up: I was saying smaller diameter WHEELS. assume same width wheel, same width tires, same tire compound. 1. A larger diameter wheel and tire package pushes the majority of its extra weight further outward away from the hub. This increases the mass that must be...

Let's say you drive it like you stole it.

sigh..........only on EV and DUB forum, will one argue larger diameter wheel = performance...... but like you said, today's P85 doesn't come with 21" wheels, so I agree it is a non-issue. as for the link you gave on Praxis. it says it went faster than STOCK M3 (by 0.3 second). it didn't...

Let's say you drive it like you stole it.

    1. I stand corrected. MT test: 0-30 2.3; 1.7 sec 0-40 3.1; 2.4 0-50 4.0; 3.1 0-60 5.0; 4.0 0-70 6.1; 5.0 0-80 7.4; 6.3 0-90 8.9; 7.7 0-100 10.8; 9.5 PASSING, 45-65 MPH 1.9; 1.7 so from 50-100. 85 is 6.8 seconds vs. P85's 6.4 seconds. 0.4 second...

Let's say you drive it like you stole it.

I am for regular 85, if you are the type of person that tinkers and drives fast: 1. not sure how true this is. but according to this forum, P85 is only faster from 0-30. when was the last time you cared for anything under 30MPH during performance driving ? 2. P85 comes with 21"... smaller...

New, cheaper Level 2 charger from Bosch

but isn't this Bosch units charging at either 12 amps and 24 amps ? I thought the rated amps is for the circuit, so they always charge at 80% only ? which means the Bosch 30 amps still take 18.5 hours ?

Let's say you drive it like you stole it.

in Los Angeles, CHP will park on freeway shoulder and use its radar gun...you will probably see 1-3 CHPs for every hour of driving. on the other hand. SOCAL has the BEST track days in the country. They are available all year, 6 local tracks, a ton of promoters. as for range, I get about 180...

12v battery issue explanation, sort of...

a lot of talk about "self jumping" just wanna make sure everybody knows that "self jumping" has been around for decades. most RV have this feature. a momentary switch under the seat, using onboard "house" battery to jump the 12v battery in case of 12v failure.

Should I buy pre-paid service/extended service? Or annual service every 2 years?

what's is this mysterious "service" everybody is talking about here ? what is this special "inspection" ? do they run it through some kind of x-ray machine ? what are you getting in your service contract that's so special ? only thing I see is may be brake fluid change every couple of years...

Negative Camber in the Rear and Expensive Tires

sorry no data yet....I drive like a yahoo anyway, you wouldn't want my range data :) for some strange reason, I drive much faster with both Tesla and Volt. I know electricity is not free (especially in SOCAL !! some of you paying 4 cents / kwh is just sickening), but it feels like it as I am...

    REAL efficiency and electricity costs

Electric Vehicle Rates | Electric Vehicles | Your Home | Home - SCE with a Tesla S, you are sure to hit tier 2. in summer, that's 47 cents / kwh for 10am-6pm and 31 cents for the rest (other than 12am-6am)......I don't think this will work for most..

    [lolachampcar] Performance Upgrade Efforts

Lolachampcar: great idea. wanna make sure I understand what you are looking to do here: develop a damper / spring (coilover) package for those wanting more performance ? issue I see is most here are on active suspension (main reason I went with std suspension), it will be trickier with...
  28. B

Negative Camber in the Rear and Expensive Tires

no, camber doesn't equal performance....talking about old wives tale.. this is especially true on cars with unequal a-arm....POS BMW using strut need static camber for performance is not the same as S (with unequal a-arm)..... some also like less rear camber to help car rotate. you need a tire...

  39. B

    Active Air vs. Standard Suspension

driving a few more days, I have some more input for standard suspension. it rides pretty stiff, very Euro, it is as stiff as AMG or M-series. definitely stiffer than your regular E class / 5 series / A6.... it has busy high speed compression (small bumps), but low speed compression is very...

San Diego to Mammoth-can it be done?

there are many RV parks along 395, they don't show up on say Plugshare. but goggle them. they usually will let you pay a nominal fee to charge. use your 14-50 adapter. if you supercharge at Barstow, Barstow to Mammoth is ~250 miles, so you only need to stop by RV places for an hour at the...

UMC available in the Tesla Gear store

but isn't UMC just an extension cable ? as S carries onboard charger. unlike most J1772 OpenEVSE, that are actually a charger.
  43. B

    Active Air vs. Standard Suspension

I am sure there is some savings, but I doubt it is significant. most lower cars offer little fuel savings. Tesla would be even less as it has a true flat bottom. if you really are that much into range saving, go with a narrower LLR tire, that will get you significant advantage....

hi, Gordon: glad you are here on the forum.....We need to break the Tesla stereotype !! hooning is good for the Tesla crowd !! on my 85, car has a lot of low end, but falls on its face on high end... expected, but kinda disappointing. hopefully your P85 is quicker.... see my other thread on...
  46. B

    Active Air vs. Standard Suspension

here it is. car rides relatively stiff. corners flat (but not sure if that's from low CG or just stiff spring). I love it, that's exactly what I want in a sports sedan. I've never pushed hard on an active S, so can't really compare.

167 miles on my first full charge on 85 !!! woowhoo

May be the motor needed to be broken in :) i did drive like a yahoo for about 50 miles of it !! Just throwing a data point out there for driving spiritedly..... Although 100 of those miles were freeway miles at 75mph
