    Supercharger - North Platte, NE

I was waiting for someone to notice it. I saw it when I pulled up, and was like... "niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice"

    Electrify America general discussion

Yeah, I realized that was a possibility after I hit 'post'. All in all, an interesting site, interestingly enough I didn't see any ID4s there while I was charging, but saw plenty of VW billboards advertising that they were built locally, while driving up and down I-75 into Georgia. and was...

    Electrify America general discussion

Today made a trip down to Georgia to get Del Taco (There aren't any in Tennessee), and stopped at the EA station just outside of Chattanooga, (Collegedale, TN); They've got an 8 stall set-up, which somewhat makes sense since the ID4 is made down the street at the Chattanooga - VW USA factory...

    max supercharge rate

Current CCS iteration is for 500 amps, rivians are definitely sucking down Max amps, just as my model 3 is, at a 350kw max charger. Both vehicles being limited by pack voltage, and Max amps supplied BY CCS. My model 3 only being able to take 185 ish kW. (375v @500A) Since tesla does their own...

    max supercharge rate

The F150 lightning AND rivians could definitely use faster charging than what they have currently... While the cybertruck will probably be more efficient than the flying bricks of their competitors, I can't see the unladen efficiency being better than 400wh/mi, and 100kwh packs probably being...

    Corded mobile connector availability [7.20.2022]

Still in stock as of 1400 eastern, I also did not receive an "In-stock notification" just happened to see it on TMC. I bought my CMC in 2019 back when they were out of stock and I bought it from another TMC member, honestly I cannot remember the last time I saw them in stock prior to now...

    CCS Adapter for North America

All of these summaries are within about 1-3kw of what was reported by ScanMyTesla. Since teslafi only polls every minute, they don't always catch the peak, if it lasts for less than one minute.
  9. ambudriver03

    CCS Adapter for North America

In my experience, the text message summary that electrify america sends you when the charging is complete, is by far more accurate than what is displayed in the charging history within the app. My assumption on how EA derived the "215kw" number is by taking the max pack voltage and multiplying...

CCS - buy now or wait?

How a 4 unit supercharger makes sense anywhere along a route even remotely traveled, in 2022... Completely escapes me. If these were v3 then maybe it could work in the summer, but in winter vehicles need to be sure not to run out of power between Richfield and Green River. Personally I'm...

should I not get the South Korean CCS1 combo adapter?

My very first test charge on my ccs, was also at a Volta charger, similar charge rate as yours for similar SoC (sorta).

CCS - buy now or wait?

Yes. Crossed i-70 4 ish times, yeah. (I live in California) I was not impressed with Hays or Salina, Goodland was OK.

    Supercharger - Richfield, UT

I suppose the only good thing, is that if you've either the chademo or ccs adapters, there is a public DCFC at the local Utah DOT yard, that's free, and then there's a standard sized electrify America station down the road a few miles.

    Supercharger - Richfield, UT

I'd believe it. This trip out west, I'm actually skipping most of the tesla Supers, just to prove it could be done for around the same cosf using EA or EVgo.

    CCS Adapter - ?

I charged at that EA station in "Washington, UT" on 6/28 and maxed out at 32kw... I was only connected for 10 mins but only received 4kwh. There was no warning on the EA app, but a display prompt on the dispensers advising of a reduced service. There were 3 ID4s charging next to me... I got...

    Electrify America general discussion

I second @Earl 's point... Interstate 80 (across Wyoming) is a no-go for non-teslas even in summer. Interstate 80 in my opinion is not passable in a tesla in winter. There are too few locations and way too many spots where one could literally be iced in... 🌨 ❄ I charged at the EA in Evanston...

Tesla says SC are not for profit, but way more expensive than for profit EA chargers

I have yet to use a CC reader on EA, mostly because the app, mostly works, and the readers essentially never work. I did use the NFC, and thought for sure it was charging my credit card based on the Google pay prompt, but EA splash screen said "Welcome username"

    Supercharger - Beaver, UT

I charged at beaver on 6/28 (2022), but didn't notice whether the v2 stations were covered or removed (it was 11pm and ☔, was surprised to see the car wash removed) I pulled into the v3 stations as I always do, and the beaver stations have a placard indicating 250kw above them.

Tesla says SC are not for profit, but way more expensive than for profit EA chargers

EA's reliability is garbage. However.... I drove 2400 miles from Los Angeles to Cincinatti, and then to Knoxville. I charged probably 70/30 Supercharger vs EA. in every single instance EA was cheaper. In some cases it broke down to around 10-14c/kwh. but, the reliability was atrocious...

Holbrook AZ to Phoenix via Payson or via Pinetop / Globe?

Last year when I charged at the old Kingman (6 Stall v2), I was getting a whole 7kw. The car on the paired stall next to me was getting about 20. Between all 6 cars, we figured out there was some issue at the transformer or the other equips, because there was less than 100kw available to all...

    Battery range with AC on

Being in Phoenix, you should definitely invest in heat rejection film/ceramic tint. I used to regularly drive from LA to Scottsdale, and wished I had gotten my car tinted. As to your original question, you'll be fine, as long as you can charge it at home every night. I managed to survive...

Electrify America is CHEAPER than Superchargers in TN and GA, and some parts of Florida

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/6852456/ I tested this out, across a 2400 mile road trip, and yep. It's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper at EA vs Tesla.

    Electrify America general discussion

Hypothesis : time based Tesla supercharging is significantly more expensive than electrify America, (and that's before the EA pass plus.) I just drove 2400 miles across i-80, and used electrify America a half dozen times where it made sense to do so. So. Crunching the numbers here, I...

Installing Wall Connector is better than NEMA 14-50

Harum.io like everyone else. https://www.harum.io/products/tesla-ccs-combo-1-adapter-chademo-adapter Takes between 1-3 weeks to get the item (comes factory sealed from Tesla) if you're in Canada, you may have to pay an import duty.

Help verifying my setup with Wall Charger

Yeah. That's what I meant by interesting. Glad you got talked out of using Romex... It would have been even tougher to make that 90° turn, definitely would have needed the double gang box.

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

You can drive home in service mode, as long as you remove the speed limiter. Anecdotally, it sounds like it's harder to find a gen4 ECU now (some service centers are making it difficult), than it has been in previous months.
  33. ambudriver03

Help verifying my setup with Wall Charger

Interesting that you chose a single gang box to gather your wires. Looks slick. Enjoy your 48a charging experience!

Tesla CCS1 Adapter: Current Draw Above Specs

These were taken on an electrify America 350kw station, at between 175-180 kW. (sorry for the imperial units, I forgot to switch to metric for science's sake)

Help verifying my setup with Wall Charger

OP should be good, since he dropped the neutral and upsized from #6 to #4. Hard wired EVSE, doesn't require GFCI breaker.

Help verifying my setup with Wall Charger

There is not. Your local home depot or lowe's might not even have red #4 thhn available by the foot. (mine is out of stock...) though it is acceptable to use black for both hot lines, as long as you mark with red tape for either L1 or L2. You can use an adaptor, but be aware that the inside...

Trip to Vegas, Grand Canyon North Rim and Zion National Park on MYP

I went to North Rim but from the other side (Phoenix) last April, and the La Quinta in Kanab is awesome. (we stayed there) Unfortunately when we stayed there all 4 stations were iced by night time. However there is a DCFC in Kanab at the public utility yard not more than 2 blocks away (though...

    Electrify America general discussion

The 350kw liquid cooled electrify America cables are heavy and stiff, found that one of the stations I charged at I could physically reach, but the cable was so stiff, I couldn't rotate the connector around to the right orientation, without putting too much torque on the ccs adapter. And this...

Big Bear - where to charge?

My chosen route to get to big bear is almost always hwy 38 over onyx summit, it's the longest, the least crowded, and snowiest (onyx summit is 8400' iirc) ... Also has the best scenery on the way up, 138/18/330 don't hold a candle. Onyx summit however is impassible after a major snow storm...

Big Bear - where to charge?

I agree. However on the rare occasion that you can't get back down 330 due to road washout or accident, can't get out west on 18 due to ice/accidents, etc. And are stuck with 18 east through Lucerne, or 38 over onyx summit, this station will definitely be useful for you. I haven't gone up...

    6/3 NM-B on conduit

Need a bit more information. Where is the wiring terminating? Garage? Outlet? Exterior surface? Is it terminating to an outlet, or a hard wired EVSE? If terminating to an outlet, most likely requires gfci breaker. EVSE, does not. Wiring wise - Romex should be secured to the studs when...

    14-50 extension cords okay?

I added another 60' of cable to the end of my extension, and while the corded mobile connector throttled down, it didn't do it immediately, took 17 minutes to throttle down. The mobile connector with the 14-50 adapter ran at 32 amps without any throttling, even when the voltage dropped to a...
