2022 Tesla Model 3 Air Suspension for offroad and highway efficiency

KW V3 leveling coilovers will give you a range of height adjustments from almost +1/2” to -7/8” I think from memory. So you could use MPP lift kit plus coilovers although not sure the rear spring spacer would be compatible but that’s an easy adjustment I guess.

    Panoramic Roof & Ride Quality

Yep, steel roof would be better but have to say just got our second M3LR and I was blown away by how hot it is compared to our first which I had tinted with Ultragard Genesis 25. I’d forgotten how effective it was. We also had the windows done in Genesis 40 and that helps tremendously as well...

Any recommendations for a good coilover installer on the Gold Coast Qld

Hey Gold Coast locals. Contemplating having the suspension on my Model 3 upgraded with coilovers. Can anyone recommend an experienced reliable installer in the Gold Coast QLD area? And what would be a reasonable charge for the install, seems 3-4 hours is the install time. Thanks for any advice...

Thanks for the detailed reply and photos. Incredibly helpful, just what I needed to make my decision.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

This may be of some help. Redbook values are used by dealers as a guide to set prices I believe. 4 M3LR car comparison Jan 21 to current 2022. price differences aren’t huge and are definitely Km dependent...

Has Anyone lifted their model 3?

I’m interested in doing the same and wondered, if you had time could post a photo or two of the raised car. I assume the Lift kit in conjunction with the MPP Comfort adjustable coil overs has improved the ride significantly over the standard setup? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Hopefully you will take some time from enjoying your Tesla to report back on your thoughts about the Mountain Pass coilovers. I for one would be very keen to hear how you go. May the car come sooner than later August. Good luck.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Absolutely correct! The display needs to be up the top of the screen, significantly larger and as suggested have a red surround or something that alerts you that there is a car there. As it is currently it is safer to check rear view and look over your shoulder like the old days.

I think we were one of the lucky ones! Ordered 19/11/21 delivered 24/03/22. White with black interior may have influenced our fortunes as well?

Any safety benefits of Model 3 AWD in Australia under normal driving conditions?

Couldn’t agree more with you, ive owned AWD cars for many years starting with a Subaru Liberty RS Turbo way back and just find the stability and extra control in adverse conditions it offers is a huge advantage. Not to mention the added safety when overtaking offered by the AWD Tesla LR and...

M3 Tint question - windows but not roof. Any regrets?

Agree it’ll look much better. If you mean the sunroof as in the smaller section above the driver then that can be done with the narrower roll as well but the larger back glass including the clear rear window section requires the wider roll. I just got my complete glass roof, sunroof and back...

    Tint choices and suggestions?

A good quality ceramic tint is far superior with regard to heat rejection for sure. TSER can be up to 15% higher for any given light transmission grade. Yes you are correct the radiant heat from the glass does heat the cabin but a good quality tint will still noticeably lower the temperature...

M3 Tint question - windows but not roof. Any regrets?

Perhaps I’m confused but as I figure it you only need 38” wide or there abouts film roll to do the front windscreen. Roll from side to side rather than top to bottom.

MPP Sport Coil-Overs. Pending install. Questions about settings.

Can’t wait for your driving impressions especially ride quality compared to stock.

Has Anyone lifted their model 3?

KW Suspension, who supply the bespoke coil overs to MPP also offer a hydraulically adjustable system to raise and lower suspension. Very expensive but if you can afford it that’s the way to the best of both worlds. https://www.kwsuspensions.com/products#hls

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Thanks so much. Ordered 19th November when delivery time was 8-12 weeks. So the wait was a little longer than expected but really not a problem at the end of the day.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Pick up our LR yesterday. Fit and finish is first rate in my opinion and the paintwork is near perfect. Ride is a little firm around town at lower speeds (improved by dropping the tyre pressure a little) but becomes more compliant as speed rises. Stability and solidness are really noticeable at...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

From experience with 2 cars over the past 6 years I would highly recommend ceramic coating mainly as it makes the car super easy to wash and does protect the paintwork from damage due to bird and bat soiling. It also maintains and enhances the shine for many years keeping that better than new...

    Tint level

I found this article very interesting and may help you understand the various heating effects of sunlight. The glass does transfer radiant heat as it heat up but tinting can reduce interior heat significantly if chosen correctly by reducing the amount and wavelengths of highest energy, those of...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Hmmm not sure that is actually correct. See the attached Terms and Conditions page 32 for this. Must say the only words that worry me are currently available in Australia, but if push comes to shove, as Nobody Famous says above market value will at least what you paid for it or more.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Most insurance companies (I believe) offer new for old car replacement if written off within the first 2 years. So for me, I’m going with NRMA and market value. If you go agreed value you pay a higher premium and gain nothing at least for that 2 year period.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Mind I think its a bad plan! It’s a very long wait to replace it. Tell you what is much worse, it’s the people who resurrect flood damaged cars and then sell them on for a huge profit. Now they are cockroaches!

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

So what. They‘ve paid there money and if they want to sell for what ever reason they are entitled to. Who knows some may have fallen on hard times since they ordered and see an opportunity to get out from under. It’s called free market and if someone is prepared to pay rather than wait then it’s...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Yes, those cars are only worth that sort of money if someone is prepared to pay that for it. When one sells near asking price that will set the real value. But I do believe there will be profits at some level to be had for some time to come.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Found an interesting UT video which show how Tesla has deliberately designed many common drive components that are interchangeable across the entire range M3,MY S to maximize simplicity and cost. So maybe a lot of tuning is done via OTA as suggested. That would make sense to me.

Is my car gonna be considered a total loss

Such bad luck, sorry about that. I think the impact speed was well below 60mph but nevertheless it has done some damage. Things that influence repair will be if the body has been significantly distorted by the impact as it looks to be an angular impact and what other major cost structural...

A New Idea for Glass Roof Tint

Sure there is PPF but that product is designed to reduce/ prevent paint and in the case of the example you used glass damage from stone impact causing chipping. What we are talking about is a IR heat rejection film for the glass roof. Pretty sure it could be done as I know Suntek has a product...

A New Idea for Glass Roof Tint

I think the application of exterior commercial film onto the roof glass will be less problematic than the installers think as it is designed for exterior installation with an added external layer. I doubt any airflow issue exists as airflow that close to the glass/ tint surface is very low due...

A New Idea for Glass Roof Tint

Get the car some time mid March and will get the tinting done soon after and then I’ll try to tint the outside as proposed and let you know the result. It’ll all come down to if a tint designed for flat glass can be applied to a slightly curved surface. Really hope it works as that would be the...

A New Idea for Glass Roof Tint

I realize this thread is a bit old but wondering how you got on with tinting the outside of the glass. I ask because I too have been on a very similar thought journey and believe or not I started with your exact approach. Tint and then protect with PPF. However I decided this approach was...

Insurance premiums have a lot to do with insured location, security, garaged etc and driver age and claim history. I recently got an NRMA quote for a M3LR which came in at $598 with a $2000 excess and included glass protection. Ive been using them for 8 years now so have a 12.5% loyalty and 60%...

Glass on roof fracturing in summer - no impact

Yes, pretty sure that is exactly what he’s saying. Although putting another way, given that he couldn’t win the argument with Tesla he assumed their analysis was correct and so payed for the replacement and then presented Teslas arguement to his insurers. What any person would do!

Tesla registration in ACT, transfer to NSW

I believe stamp duty is only applicable at first new registration and on that basis if transferring rego to NSW there should be no stamp duty applied.

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

I thought the warranty was for the drive train, in which case it would all be covered under warranty.
