Anyone else dislike the new UI?

GUI definitely going in the wrong direction. Instead of A 3/4 useless screen, it is now 7/8 useless. And takes longer to boot. All the info I actually want to see is now in an area smaller than my old iPhone 4S screen as shown below. Mind you, this phone is almost a decade old. I NEED THE...

    So camping mode is useless.

Only useful feature of camp mode is disabling headlights. SInce the rear seat doesn't fold flat and the shelf is so low, it is far more comfortable to set up a tent, which only takes ten minutes alone and which I have to set up anyway to hold all the stuff in the trunk I'd have to remove to...

    Model Y Roof flew off

I wouldn't rule out sabotage on the factory floor - that has certainly happened at other auto manufacturers. I remember one incident in particular where a factory worker at GM was found to be tossing bolts into random places so a car would rattle. And apparently other workers would just be...

    Total braking system failure?

That sounds like a booster failure. If the failure is due to low 12 Vdc, I agree it is a poor design. I can't get into the car without 12 V, and if I have no cell service that is a real issue, and doubly so if the emergency brake is also dependent on 12 Vdc. At the very least the car should...

    Tesla Hates Nevada

If it is a casual trip you might look into staying overnight in an RV park. I note there are a couple on the route. Model 3 comes with the adapter required to plug into the 240 VAC outlet they provide at most RV parks. Wouldn't work for me since I only have the old mid-range, but you might be...

Pushing range: How far can you really go?

Not sure I would call it "range anxiety". I try not to drop below 15-20% on my ICE vehicles either. SInce I have older vehicles the fuel pickup is in the front of a flat tank. Guess what happens if you accelerate hard or go up a hill with less than that. I have taken my Tesla 3 down under...

    Battery Day expectations

I agree. Why would you focus on something that is not yet in demand and could potentially hurt your future sales. Unless you are an edge case (extreme mileage, need to push range to the limit of what is possible, etc), I wouldn't expect to have to consider swapping batteries for at least the...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

LOL I had forgotten there's a glove box! Suffering from A.G.E. syndrome! Only access it to put the insurance papers in, and to store a pressure guage, which of course is not necessary on this car. I prefer push button controls (both my other cars have only physical switches), but I also love...

Model 3 and Rough Dirt Roads

I was wondering if anyone here has added the MPP spacers? I have a completely stock mid-range RWD Tesla 3 with the 18" aero wheels. An extra 1.75" clearance would be helpful - both for driving the graded FS roads similar to the one below which I have been doing fairly regularly, and also for...

    Unexpected Tesla Fans

From my pre-Tesla 3 days, I would hazard a guess he thought all Tesla drivers were jerks - slamming the accelerator pedel to the floor on green. Now that I own one, I realize that you just don't notice how fast you are accelerating relative to most cars. I would agree with 3) - all the Prius...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

I asked an engineer who worked at Tesla about that. He said they actually considered it, but decided at the time it was considered an edge case use. I wonder whether the thinking might change as a result of the rolling blackouts we had in California due to fire hazard mitigation. I imagine...

Unpleasant Experience nearly running out of charge on M6

Glad someone mentioned the energy consumption graphs. I had forgotten about them. Just had a mild shock today. At the last charger station before my destination I brought charge up to 200mi., since the distance was 60mi. and I climb 7000 ft. The climb ate up 120 mi of range. Fine - a little...

    Small Screen Font on UI

YES. My whole point. Give me the option of removing elements I don't need or use and expand the ones I do. And I disagree older cars had less status info. to display. I do not have to monitor engine temp, oil pressure, engine RPM, engine error codes - mostly related to emissions, or battery...

    Funny story for ya'll....

Handing keys over is always potentially amusing - even for non-Tesla vehicles. I've returned from a trip to find my car exactly where I left it for valet parking, because no one could figure out how to start it (car is 50 years old and shift lever switch only engages if you hold it just right -...

Germany Rules on Using Tesla Screen Wiper Controls

None of the "solutions" mentioned have worked for me - Auto, voice command, stalk button. They work 90% of the time, but this is a safety issue. It needs to work 100% of the time. Auto has improved with updates, but still unreliable. Voice surprisingly seems to always interpret correctly -...

    Small Screen Font on UI

What did we do before screens? A pic. is worth 10e3 words. Both upper and lower shots were just taken with the camera where my head is normally placed and is pretty representative of what I can see without glasses. Which is easier to read? All you can see is the P on the Tesla, which is the...

    Small Screen Font on UI

Lasik is definitely not the solution if you are over 50 unless you are lucky - look up presbyopia. I've had lasik and now have 20/10 vision which I haven't had since my college days. But that is only at distance. Close up I can't read anything but vehicle speed without putting on glasses - a...

Tesla has a lot of offline software improvements to make unless they want upset Cybertruck owners

That's because most of the road is either granite, or damp - but not muddy so good traction - otherwise I wouldn't chance pushing through without having a place to attach a winch...

Tesla has a lot of offline software improvements to make unless they want upset Cybertruck owners

I've actually had the backpack since the 70's when I was in college. I know about the front tow port. I need to know where to hook if I need to pull from the back. As far as I can tell, my only option would be to buy one of those attachments you bolt onto a wheel.

Tesla has a lot of offline software improvements to make unless they want upset Cybertruck owners

Take my M3 off-road and had not noticed issues, since I know I would get no service at all. Print the applicable topos on paper beforehand and use old-fashioned GPS. My only issue is where do I hook the tow hook in the rear?

    One pedal driving stopped working

Had the same experience. Worked like a charm for a couple of days, then suddenly stopped working after I did a charge. Turns out the mode changed from hold. Changed it back and have not seen the problem since.

What are your top 5 likes and dislikes about the model 3 User Interface?

After 12,000 miles of driving Top Likes: - Large touchscreen in center. Rock solid construction, location keeps clutter out of direct vision at night. I've wanted exactly this for a long time - No dials or buttons. Thought I'd hate this, but again love the clutter free design - Vent...

Auto bright lights and night mode after V10

With the update all of a sudden my high beams switch on and off frequently. It is switching off when a car approaches, but I didn't need high beam in the first place - it wasn't even completely dark. I find this annoying enough I am going back to manual control.

Why doesn't Mod3 user interface make reading alerts easier?

I totally agree that the fonts are too small for almost everything except for speed. I have 20/10 vision, but only at a distance. Like the majority of people over 50, and almost everyone over 60 I have presbyopia so I have great difficulty focusing well enough at close range to make out small...
