Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

I was hoping Tesla would support this upgrading to a new partial backup topology (in red) with an additional Gateway V3 and home PowerSharing to a non-Powerwall backed wall connector, but alas it seems they won't or can't...

    First Powershare home installation

Has there been anyone with an existing "partial home" Powerwall backup setup getting PowerShare installed? Tesla won't touch my partial home backup setup for PowerShare with a 10-foot pole, as my existing Tesla wall charger is not behind the V2 Gateway & Powerwalls. I'm guessing because they'd...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

So I got an e-mail today, they're only giving me a $700 Tesla Shop credit with the Foundation Series AWD order. I have existing Powerwalls at home but my Tesla wall charger is not behind the Powerwalls. So Tesla doesn't want to do anything to enable PowerShare... just give me a $700 store credit...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

1099-MISC is only required if the income is over $600. I doubt very many if any folks on VPP got paid out that high, would need a huge system of PWs contributing.

Discussion: Powerwall 3 [Speculation / Discussion etc]

It all depends on how the grid fails, voltage and frequency-wise. Most of my outages I've never had to reset anything in the house or have anything shutoff. But there have been 1 or 2, notably once when a nearby transformer exploded, where the Powerwalls' cutover was apparently too slow and some...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Tesla is reimbursing Founders Series owners 6 months of free SuperCharging (for AWD) or 1 year free SuperCharging (for Cyberbest) if they've deemed their current incantation of Powershare not feasible where you want to install it.

    Longer term Ohmmu experiences?

Got the first 12V needs replacing on my Ohmmu V4+ no heater. Only 7 charge cycles old. Was a Tesla app notification and I caught the 12V kill discharge early while still at 97% SOC. Reset procedure via BT recovered operation. Got down to freezing for the first time in Silicon Valley this winter...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

However I would be surprised if all the truck AC outlet were dead when running AC out the NACS in Powershare mode... certainly they can be up and pooled for the DC-AC max wattage limit?

    Powerwall Firmware 23.44.0 eb113390

This is terrible. Luckily I'm still stuck on 23.12.11. Because they can and because it probably makes their lives easier against any warranty and maintenance claims. I had a Powerwall 2 that died and the Powerwall Dashboard was super instrumental to convincing their Tier 1 and Tier 2 support to...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Anyone have an install of two Gateways at a single residence? I'm thinking my partial home backup install of Powerwalls + Gateway V2 would ideally be kept on the same 200A branch of my 400A service, and then I could add a new Gateway and Universal Wall Connector at the 400A main panel as a...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

I have existing Tesla solar + Powerwalls + Gateway V2 in a partial backup configuration (backup loads panel). Wondering if the Wall Connector has to be installed behind both the Gateway and the Backup Panel for Powershare to work correctly? It would actually be easier (location wise) for me to...

    Longer term Ohmmu experiences?

I've been running on V4 (no battery heater) for a few months now in my Model 3 + FSD train software, and it's held up just fine. We don't really get below freezing temps in Silicon Valley though... which would probably explain why I haven't seen any 12V issues so far.
  18. B

    Longer term Ohmmu experiences?

What kind of Tesla alerts should I be on the look out for here? I have had the V4+ back in the Model 3 for about 2 months now, with no issues, no alerts. Ohmmu app shows 5x 12V battery cycles since then. Don't really feel like messing around with the BT firmware upgrade and vehicle hard reset...

Discussion: Powerwall 3 [Speculation / Discussion etc]

The conduit painting is free (at least the $500 was waived before), if you lived in an HOA where it was required. Install of inside garage vs. outside should be identical, unless going inside requires a lot longer conduit runs... then yea, extra materials and labor ain't free.

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Yes, Tesla's VPP seems to still be functional for most people enrolled. But on this thread history there's now at least 3 or 4 members stating that VPP has stopped working for them. I originally suspected old Powerwall/Gateway firmware to be a clue, but it seems that's not the case. Unclear what...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Same @miimura, VPP events have been "broken" for me (effectively TBC mode when I'm set to self powered, and no battery discharging to grid), ever since Tesla changed their VPP behavior to limit the the battery discharge power from maximum export power to a power level that can be sustained for...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

VPP events used to precharge the batteries from grid as well, seems they stopped doing that this year?
  27. B

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

My Powerwalls are still only powering my home and not sending any kW into the grid in this VPP event. Tesla seems slow to fix this bug for me (Tier 2 support ticket open almost a month).

Strange, I'm in San Jose too but no VPP event showing for me. Not that it has worked correctly for me the past few events anyway...

    Longer term Ohmmu experiences?

OK, BT updated to app's latest BMS firmware (for Model 3) and installed the Ohmmu V4+ after having been back on a LA 12V for nearly a year. Vehicle is on FW 2023.7.30 as well. Will report back if/when I run into any unusual 12V issues. We have fairly mild winters here in Silicon Valley so I'll...

    Longer term Ohmmu experiences?

Is anyone with Ohmmu's latest V4+ BMS firmware and somewhat recent Tesla firmware actually seeing the replace 12V errors anymore? Or is just the concern that they'll likely pop up prematurely again eventually, or that you'll damage the car's PCS, or simply just too much headache over the LA...

Supercharger - Petaluma, CA (Proposed, 5002 N. Petaluma Blvd, 31 stalls)

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

I have a Tier 2 support ticket out with Tesla Energy to figure out why VPP isn’t sending any energy into the grid for me anymore. Maybe if others also report seeing the same problem too then Tesla can find their bug quicker. The fact that my VPP participation breaking aligned with Tesla’s recent...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Huh, well then that can't explain it. I'm stuck on firmware 23.4.2-2 but am seeing similar odd behavior to you. All the VPP events this week have not discharged the batteries to grid... however the prior VPP events in 2023 and 2022 worked just fine for me.

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Hmm I have a 2012 Model S, rev B 85kWh pack, and have not done nearly 12MWh worth of DCFC. But I don't peak much above 100kW anymore and the charge curve tails off rapidly... I suspect if you compared your 0-80% charge time now to back when all there was were 90kW V1 SuperChargers, your 0-80%...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

If you look at the first post in 90 and 75 battery packs getting nerfed early??? by the OP, they had Tesla service confirm that their pack was throttled due to a high amount of DCFC kWh. They even specified the threshold...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Another VPP event on old (23.4.2-2) Powerwall firmware... another event where my batteries are not discharging into grid even though the Tesla app says "Powerwall is discharging to support the grid". Well yeah, they are discharging, but only into my home loads. Best part? Tesla support told me...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

I was in the exact same boat... perhaps you're stuck on older PW firmware as well?
  44. B

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

You're also stuck on PW firmware release 23.4.2-2 from June 2023 and the VPP behavior for you was correct?
  45. B

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

So the algorithm, presumably on the Powerwall firmware side, has evidently been changed since the last VPP event to throttle the batteries to grid power to better guarantee that you'll contribute energy over the entire event window before you hit your reserve %. However the VPP event apparently...
