I purchased the ones directly from Tesla and I have to admit they are awesome. Not only fit great, but look and feel superior to many other brands I have used on various vehicles.

That's what happened to me too. But they called in about 10 minutes with my paperwork.

Update: Signed paperwork and my car is ready, but still being charged and prepped. Said to wait about 30 minutes in the lobby and then car will be ready.

Yep, I recommend it. Seems like many people here doing the same. Some had appointments but others just showing up and asking about their cars and being told it's ready.

Here at the factory now. Checked in and in line behind 80 people waiting to get their vehicles. Parking lot completely full of Tesla's as far as I can see. Lots of volunteers, all of whom are being friendly. Pretty calm atmosphere.

I'll be driving with my family, so they will likely drop me off at Tesla then head to in-laws house in Castro Valley. Thought about taking an Uber but that's probably around $80.

Yeah I just saw that Elon tweeted he will be at the event, so that is kinda cool. The event appears to be at the "showroom/factory" location and not the delivery center, from my understanding. I have only been there once so not 100% sure. I am just going to the address stated in my text.

I will definitely do this. I plan to get there a little early, as I feel it will be chaos. I have been to the showroom once before and it is not very big, so unless they are planning to do this event in a different room, or possibly outside, then it will be extremely crowded.

Probably what you said. They have a certain amount of cars that will be sold at the event and want to make sure they have everyone there possible who will take them. If someone can't make it, I am sure they will find a replacement quickly.

I will definitely report back! Maybe update here with a few photos from the event, if it is worthy of sharing. I am keeping my expectations low but am very excited to finally get my car. It has been 62 days of anticipation......

I went ahead and made the full payment tonight. I know many say to wait until you indirect the car, but I am 99% confident I am buying the car. If there are any issues with it when I inspect it, they will still need to correct before I drive off.

Personally, I haven't heard of anyone being promised delivery by a certain date. Tesla did give us estimated dates, but nothing promised. I could be wrong though. However, I think I understand your question. Would anyone cancel their order if they didn't get it by 12/31? Although it would hurt...
