    Supercharger - Clovis, NM

I share your skepticism but I really wish it would. The drive from Santa Rosa to lubbock is very tight at the moment, especially if winds are unfavorable and they often are in the Lubbock-> Santa Rosa direction in addition to some elevation gain. I check plugshare daily on the Clovis and Fort...

Cashback & Bonus Points for Supercharging and other EV chargers

Bluedot gives 20% cash back on charging including superchargers, electrify America, and charge point that I have personally tested and use regularly. In addition they have in app charging for $0.30/kWh and many locations (especially ergo) where that is a deal. I have an invite link which gives...

How Aggressive Should Tesla Be with Variable Pricing to Manage Supercharger Congestion? (i.e. Should Tesla jack rates at chronically congested SCers?)

I personally use a metric of just multiply by 10 and you're roughly in gas price numbers. In your example that comes out to $4.60 per [unit similar to gallon of gas] vs $3.40 per [unit similar to gallon of gas]. Interestingly, these numbers are similar in price as well as usable energy. A gallon...

Blue Dot app claims 20% discount on Supercharging

I’ve been able to charge at around 130 kW with the CCS adapter from a Bluedot initiated session in Alamosa, CO, but I have a MY LR AWD. I had a 2019 M3 LR RWD and charged at the same station at 130 kW initiated by Bluedot as well. Not the same as the LFP but there are certainly good Bluedot...

    Supercharger - Henryetta, OK

There are chargepoint chargers (more reliable than Francis on avg) in Okemah. They appear to be CPE250s in a paired configuration so you may get close to 75kW peak with the CCS adapter and the cost is $0.34 / kWh. Seems like a reasonable alternative with a good price and good reliability and...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

According to this Hankook iON evo vs Michelin Pilot Sport 5: New EV tire from Hankook!, the summer version of the ion evo's have a CRR of 0.0062 vs. 0.0077 for the PS5's. Note that both of these are summer tires and I believe the summer tires have a better CRR than the all seasons (or at least...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

I used their link to get a price match at discount tire. You can select the exact tire configuration you want on discount tire and then add a price match. I was able to get the exact hankook ion evo tires I needed (235 45 R18 with the correct load rating (98W?)) at $199.97 per and if you buy 4...

    Supercharger - Plainview, TX

I'm curious if it's similar to the Quanah situation where 1 of the cabinets is available and the other cabinet has its charger stalls covered and offline for a while. Hopefully these stalls will be online soon.

    Supercharger - Clovis, NM

The Clovis SuC is no longer listed as coming soon on the Tesla supercharger website. Perhaps the map is only listing sites that are likely to be built this CY, either way a very discouraging sign. This is almost necessary for the Lubbock -> Santa Rosa/I-40 route.

Go Fund Me for EV Charging in SE NM

My understanding is: if they are in a shared configuration, they can peak at 125 if only 1 car is using them, but only 800V-class cars will see those speeds and again *if* they choose the shared/combined configuration. 400V-class cars (pretty much everything but Taycan, Lucid, hummer, egmp) will...

Go Fund Me for EV Charging in SE NM

Looks like an EA station is coming soon to a target in Roswell. While EA’s reputation wrt reliability has taken a hit recently, still seems preferable to a Francis station. @nwdiver do you know if anyone looking to install freewire chargers in NM. They seem perfect for rural areas.

I should have included that as well, according to both plugshare and the charge point website, it does also have chademo!!

    DCFC in SE NM

According to fastcharger.info and a comment on plugshare, there is a 50kW CCS charge point that just opened in Mescalero, just outside of Ruidoso at a casino. Plugshare claims to be $0.14/kWh!

Tesla belatedly tries to make their connector a North American standard

That makes a lot of sense. I'm curious, do you think that having a canopy that protects the electronics from the elements increases their reliability or is it mostly in higher investment in maintenance?

Supercharging now more expensive than ICE

IMHO, one of the complicating factors of all of this is that while power is a rate, the unit of power is not described in terms of a rate, it sounds like a non-derived unit in the same way that energy is described (they have the feeling of being standalone quantities, 0th order derivatives, both...

CCS Charging Plans, Are they worth it?

You can definitely save money with the CCS adapter! Electrify America has their pass+ which gives $0.31 / kWh for $4 / month (free pass is $0.43). The savings of $0.12 / kWh means if you add more than 33 kWh (about half a model 3 battery) you break even. Assuming your profile has a correct...

    Supercharger - Quanah, TX

According to the document it’s supposed to start construction the day after thanksgiving. It would be really nice if it were completed prior to Thanksgiving. Last year after thanksgiving the 287 route was full, I don’t recall having to wait but I do recall taking the only open stall more than...

There is an update on clean technica on the chargers Plugshare claims are scheduled to be put in: An Update On Upcoming Fast Charging Stations in Southeast New Mexico Allegedly 5 more by the end of the year. What I couldn't gather is if those 5 are in NM specifically or across Francis's entire...

    WTB: Chademo Adapter

From looking at Harumio today it seemed that the chademo adapter was available again, sadly they are selling them for $590. So if you really want or need the OEM chademo adapter, this is an option, albeit an expensive one.

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

AC charging works as expected. Supercharging worked as expected, EA (after a method of payment issue) worked as expected, as well as a random ChargePoint CCS! Everything works as expected. This will be great for road trips when SuC lines are long or EAs are faster (180-190 kW + no sharing)!!

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

Finally got my 00-B board in from Tesla today. Used my bundle of wires (thanks @FalconFour!!) Hardest part of the installation was getting the clip back in. I did not disconnect the 12V and I used a software update rather than service mode. Worked great and hopefully I’ll test supercharging...

Help please Scottsdake AZ to Abq to Dallas

I'm not sure the range of your vehicle, but for me the clearest the clearest route to ABQ from Payson is: Payson -> Holbrook -> Gallup -> ABQ. For Dallas: ABQ -> Tucumcari -> Amarillo -> Childress -> Henrietta (Wichita Falls) -> Dallas.

Supercharger - Albuquerque, NM - Louisiana Boulevard Northeast

A workaround for now might be to route to the other supercharger in ABQ, though since the other is V2 full speeds probably won't be achieved but better than nothing I'd imagine.

    FS: 2018-2020 Model 3 USB-A to USB-C Retrofit Adapters

I too am interested. There are probably better tools, but I propose that all who are interested and willing to buy these should like @chopps 's post in order to get an idea of the numbers. If the numbers are favorable, @chopps can make a batch. Just a thought, and I'll start by liking the post.

    CCS Adapter for North America

My understanding of yo-yoing is that it is when one alternates between heavy power and heavy regen (floor the accelerator then let off all the way). This cannot always be accomplished safely in all traffic conditions. If one is willing to drive in this manner, it can assist in heating the...

    CCS Adapter for North America

This must be getting close to 500A, way more than the 300 that the CCS1 tesla adapter claims to be rated for, though I’ve heard something about continuous vs peak ratings that could explain it. This is great news, EA would become a v2.5 SuC in the vast swaths of v3 deserts that exist along...

Tesla CCS adapter activated in North America with 2021.40.6 software update

As an addendum to my comments about part numbers. I had ordered the 1537264-00-B gen 4 board and my local Tesla service center offered to install it and do the necessary firmware updates. They could not get the component working and said it would only charge briefly and then stop. They believe...

Tesla CCS adapter activated in North America with 2021.40.6 software update

I’d be ecstatic if we could pull 490A with the CCS adapter though! So many areas along interstates only have a v2 suc with a 350 kW EA nearby, makes charging that much faster and possibly cheaper in some cases.
  36. T

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I find this very interesting because the article from drive Tesla Canada showing the Tesla ccs 1 adapter, given the SOC of the car, seemed to be current limited whereas this appears to take 500A which is at or near the limit of the 350 kW chargers IIRC. Hopefully we will know more soon, but the...

Tesla CCS adapter activated in North America with 2021.40.6 software update

Gathering some information for others that are interested: typing in the part # to eBay will come up with several hits. There is the gen 3 part: 1092755-98-D, on eBay some seem to also have a 1092755-99-D (images of the part confirmed this I think). Then there is the gen 4 part which is...

Tesla CCS adapter activated in North America with 2021.40.6 software update

Maybe I’m just an idiot, but I found no way to purchase a part from the parts catalog website, unless I wanted to fill out a form and describe my “shop” (with pictures and insurance information) of which I don’t have. I did not find “how to buy tesla parts” easily google-able, could you please...

Tesla CCS adapter activated in North America with 2021.40.6 software update

Has anyone tried the adapter on this site? Tesla US CCS1/CCS2 (400A) It claims to take 400A, but it’s $525. Also, does anyone know of a reliable source for purchasing the upgraded board?

PlugShare is now showing the Carrizozo location without the wrench. Photos taken at the site indicate the possibility of it being active yet it does not show up in the Francis Energy app (unlike the Clines Corners location which does show up in the FE app). Has anyone corroborated the status of...

Tesla to Offer CCS charging adapter?

My understanding is that teslas have a pack voltage in the 300-400 and maybe up to 450? on the latest model S/X depending on SOC and pack. But @MP3Mike pointed out that the current rating in likely for continuous output and it may have higher peak current.

Tesla to Offer CCS charging adapter?

Excellent find @RadScientist! couple of things that I noted in trying to find out more: it appeared from my investigation to be limited to 300A. While I couldn’t quickly figure out a way to translate the user manual (1 page pdf) link, the figures shown appeared to be with a model s/x or so I...

No way to get to Carlsbad Caverns?

There is a photo on PlugShare of the charging stalls in Carrizozo that show chademo plugs so I remain hopeful.
  45. T

    DCFC in SE NM

Ohh, this is the clines corners location. That detail was lost on me, I thought this was the Carrizozo location. Even more disappointing I’d say since PlugShare indicated that location would have both CCS and chademo, if all of the Francis installs in SE NM are CCS only that will be of little...
  46. T

    DCFC in SE NM

Amazing they accomplished this so quickly! The speed is a big improvement if you only have the 11 kW onboard AC charger. But CCS only is a little disappointing, all the more reason for a Tesla CCS adapter. (I’m familiar with the setec adapter but I’m waiting for a hopefully 350A capable pass...

I found an RFP via google from the KCEC website. It’s not clear if the info is outdated or not, but that RFP claims the sites for the DCFCs would be in Taos and Angel Fire. https://kitcarson.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/EV-RFP.pdf
