    2019 M3 LR, Battery degradation

It’s going to be a bit tricky to try that charging pattern. The car is my wife’s daily driver and range anxiety kicks in at about 50% :) But I can try to get capacity down to 30% before plugging it in.

    2019 M3 LR, Battery degradation

My M3 LR is 3 years old and has 30k miles on it. Recently I noticed that 100% of battery capacity is 274 miles instead of the 310 it should be. Tesla Service says that we should expect a 4% degradation per year which explains the current capacity numbers. (There’s no clarity on whether it’s 4%...

2021.44.30.7 update caused lte and WiFi connectivity issue

On our 2019 Model 3, LTE connectivity failed after update to 2021.40.30.11 WiFi works when the car is at home and it can connect to the home WiFi. On the road, I was unable to connect to hotspot on my phone. Repeated reboots - both the 2-button press kind and the 'Power Off' from the...

Premium Connectivity cost $9.99/month for many Model 3 versions

My Model 3 is almost a year old. I'm debating whether I should pay for the premium connectivity. We don't really care about the streaming music or browser. We need reliable navigation - whether we can see the traffic on the screen or not is immaterial, but the Nav capability should use traffic...

Tesla Model 3 LR AWD -- 200 miles range vs 320 claimed? [NJ]

I haven't measured precisely as we usually charge when the battery remaining miles is around 150. My wife's commute (Northern NJ) is roughly 12 miles each way - all local roads with lots of stop and go traffic. Most of the mileage is all local short trips. To give you an idea - the car has 2100...

Electrician recs for northern new Jersey

My electrician in Bergen county asked for $350 to install a NEMA 14-50R. I ended up doing it myself. But my outlet is right next to the Circuit panel which made it easy.

Range increase (split from Master Thread: 2019.40.2)

I just upgraded to 40.2.1 The battery range went down to 306 @100% (the number on the charger setting). I set to charge up to 90% and it shows as 275 Long Range AWD

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Finding small lengths of 6/3 wire is harder than I thought. Luckily a friend who works for an electrical supplier has a bunch. Is it a good idea to use an Aluminum sheathed wire ? or BX ? Is it hard to cut and strip the sheath ?

charging adapters that come with model 3

We picked up an M3 on Oct 22 and it didn’t include the 14-50 adapter. But when I asked for it, they went into the back and got me one. No cost. The J1772, 110V and one more adapter were included. I only care about the 14-50 and the J1772. I think they could possibly offer the J1772 + 1 adapter...

    Rotating Tires question

That is indeed very high. My Tundra 4WD wheel lug nuts torque spec is 100 ft-lbs. Most torque wrenches are a bit over 100 ft-lbs. Anyone know why it's so high ?

How to turn off chargng screen without locking car?

hmm.. My car auto locks when I walk out of the garage and into the house - and the screen goes off. When I come back into the garage, I imagine it's still locked and I just press the door handle and it unlocks the car. The only time I have to use the app to Unlock the car is to remove the...

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

I used an Enerlites receptacle with a 2 gang deep box and cover plate from HD. Seem fairly decently made. It's only been a little over a month but I leave the mobile connector plugged in. I've not noticed any heating issues. Now, after reading this thread, I'm wondering if I need to swap out the...

    Sentry mode wierdness

I finally managed to get SentryMode working (hopefully) after a couple false starts. It filled up 23Gb on the disk within 20 hours. Through the night it was recording stuff while the car was parked in my garage. Many of the clips are just completely black or lighting changes as cars went by on...

    New owner - charging question

Thanks everyone. I used Romex. I guess I'll change the breaker to a 40amp as it's a lot less work. I was unable to find 6AWG at any of the local stores and didn't want to order a 25ft spool of 6AWG and have it lying around. It was able to get 5ft of 8AWG and since the current draw was only...

    New owner - charging question

We just got a Model 3 Long Range for my wife a month ago. I wired a 14-50R receptacle for the charger right next to the circuit panel in the garage using 8AWG wire and a 50A dipole breaker. I'm only using the charger that came with the car and it draws 32Amps. Should I have used 6AWG wire ? I...
