Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Technically, we will only know tomorrow. They have 2 days to file it. But may well be that only part of the shares were sold yesterday.

So is this the new version of our good old friend the "mid-morning dip" (MMD)? Edit: And of course also the obligatory - cheers to all the longs!!

I agree on this one: The UAW loving folks won't care. TSLAQ has one talking point less. However, moderates, independents and conservatives who care about free markets will hopefully agree that Tesla not being part of the this political dog & pony show was a positive. Politics is so polarised...

Amazing stuff - Bitcoin impairment is only $23 Mio "Operating income increased YoY mainly due to volume growth and cost reduction. Positive impacts were partially offset by growth in operating expenses including increased SBC, Model S/X ramp (negative margin in Q2), additional supply chain...

This is from /r/WSB - and entirely correct. Still nothing to be happy about - it increases the "EVs are fire hazards" myth. In other news: the I4 configurator is live - we now know that driving a BMW electric vehicle in Switzerland costs you dearly. How much you ask? Well if you compare the...

I think that's a massive mistake. It is too late for an ICE ban in Europe. 2035 is not going to make a difference. The conversion will have occurred before. Already today there are a million car related conspiracy theories that try to spin the obvious, clear and open failure of German car makers...

I like your sense of optimism... ;-) SP multiplied many times since solar city (those were the good old days - I have made a decent amount of money then and since..) and yet the case exists. If they lose this case, they will try other avenues and people who blindly hate Tesla/Elon will not be...

Well the whole point would be that it is something that money can't buy but doesn't cost Tesla much. I mean, I do trust my broker (ha!ha!) - but it would be great to be issued with a token that I can enter on Tesla.com and which would confirm that I indeed have real shares. If I get then...

Hi all, since we are still in weekend-OT mode: the GME folks are discussing of issuing NFTs as a dividend to expose how many "fraudulent" shares are out there. I know Overstock did issue a crypto dividend aimed at doing the same - with mixed results. I still like the idea of issuing a...

I don't think you can call it a "benefit" that the chip shortage hit, but I would call it a convenient excuse. We all know we probably hit Peak Car in 2017: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2019-02-28/this-is-what-peak-car-looks-like So the 2020 decline was clearly blamed on COVID, a...

How to best sell down when retired - and options are not possible

Do you have property? I'm toying with the idea of taking a loan out against my real-estate. Loan conditions in DK are extremely good right now and I wouldn't need to sell a thing... (by coincidence - is there any Dane here that did something similar? Possibly with a reverse mortgage?)

    POLL - GME Outcome

This poll is missing the absolutely obvious solution: $GME sells additional stock at $400 (or whatever price). This puts a cap on the share price (short term), prevents the infinity squeeze, allows WSB to still make a bit of money while teaching a serious lesson to the Shorts and providing GME...

Hey, I wish you all the best - also, don't worry, a lot of things will blow over with time. As long as you don't change behaviour and stick to the "it's not real" or better "it won't be real for a looooooooooong time" line you will find it is ok. If anybody asks specifics, stay vague. So for...

    All discussion of Nikola Motors

If GM really needs the EV credits - why not create a new company? Create "Edison Motors", sell an "upgraded" version of the Badger raise money for it in the stock market? And just let Nikola go bankrupt? I mean they will need to also sell the vehicles: no regular sane person would buy a Nikola...

In this video (jump to the 3 minutes mark): The talk is that GM has a "get out of jail free" card until 30-Sept-2020. The GM deal is dead. Even if the new chairman of the board is the guy who brokered the deal in the first place.

"Don't worry my dear, I'm still committed to our relationship! We can still be a great couple on the weekends!" - the reason I say that is: IVECO, FPT Industrial and Nikola Corporation launch their partnership to achieve zero-emissions transport (bolding mine) If you have additional partners...

Well at least Bosch has their own hydrogen strategy, too. It is interesting, they had a (paid?) article on the future of hydrogen in German news media just recently. I don't know if they like to have GM in the mix, too - in a way I guess the GM deal was not so ideal for Bosch as it cuts them off...

Oh wow, they are not pulling any punches... Do you think they plan to just sit this one out? So far we just see a lot of swearing and yelling on Instagram but not really any other moves. I wonder what the fine folks at Iveco, Bosch and (to a lesser extent also) GM think about this drama.

    All discussion of Nikola Motors

Interesting - here the GM take: Claims of Smoke and Mirrors Levied at Nikola I think this is pretty genius of GM: you get 11% ownership, a seat at the board and the right to EV credits while having someone use, market and sell your technology for free. I can see why GM did this kind of deal.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Can someone please help me understand and find the hole in my logic on short-selling (not naked short-selling). Before the split: (A) buys 1 share in the market. Lends it to (B). (B) sells the share to (C) for cash (and hopes to re-buy later at a lower price). (A) has 1 "synthetic" share; (C)...

Careful! What happens with NKLA, NIO and the others looks to me like an EV bubble. The horrific idea that a rebadged and spun off GM electric division could raise billions of USD in no time, the fact that we all see these reverse merger/IPOs is very concerning to be quite frank. Don't get me...

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Same exact answer I got today from Nordnet... BUT then he said, that normal splits (i.e. Share Code is the same, no new Share Code / Share Class issued) is not tax relevant. He also said since nothing is being sold, there is no ability to tax anything. So I'm not worried.
