Another rear end accident on AP

You keep referring to LIDAR. I'm pretty certain you mean RADAR. Every Model 3 has a RADAR unit. On the other hand, Elon says that LIDAR is a crutch and he will never allow it on his cars (or words to that effect). RADAR: RAdio Detection And Ranging LIDAR: LIght Detection And Ranging

    M3 is a BMW, people

This is, by far, the most gripping controversy in the world today. I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how this debate turns out. (By which, I mean: Who gives a crap? ;))

    Coolest Tesla Garage

The "Coolest Tesla Garage" is, without a doubt, your own. Don't get me wrong, the red logo wall, epoxy floor, and cabinets look great. But mine's better: it has MY car in it. :)

PITA - Trying to Upgrade from EAP to FSD

Yes, I upgraded in February, when it was $2k. Log on to your Tesla account, click the "Manage" button for your car, then click the "VIEW DETAILS" button. This will list everything about your configuration, including a section called "Post Delivery Options," which will show FSD, if they...

    Should i buy it?

Just because you get money back from the Feds each year doesn't mean you can't take advantage of the tax credit. It is a credit against your total tax bill, not against your balance due at filing time. If you pay a total amount of taxes greater than or equal to the current credit, you get the...

Supercharging Fees Coded As Fuel For Credit Card?

I'm sure you already know what the answer is gonna be, but, no. You're not going to get your gas rebate for Supercharging.

What happens when steering on AP comes out of Beta?

If you're having to work at it, you're doing it wrong. Hold the wheel off-center, in some way. Now, relax your arm and let it "hang" on the wheel. Done. No nag, no "work."

How to disable activated Alarm? Phone App

Presumably, you don't want to disable walkaway lock. How about simply unlocking the car with the app as soon as the walkaway feature has locked it? Or maybe leave your phone in the car with her? Or set her phone up as another key (not sure this would work as hoped, though; multiple phone-keys...

Sentry geo-loc- "At Work"/"At Home"...How large of a radius is that?

I don't know how big the radius is, but it's not big enough for my case. I work on what is essentially a campus that has only one street address. Unfortunately, I park just about as afar away as you can and still be on campus. Sentry mode gives me a report every afternoon, as I get in my car...

    AWD or Not?

Believe what you will about the health effects of EMF and AC, but going RWD on a 3 won't change anything, really. I don't know what your sources are, but Tesla uses AC power for ALL the motors in ALL its cars. In the AWD 3, the front motor is a pure induction motor, while the rear is the same...

    Model 3 stinks ....

I think it's far safer (and more accurate) to say that Elon "projected" both of those options would be available. And, yes, they were separate things; almost certainly mutually exclusive. I don't understand why people continue to take everything Elon says as a "promise." Generally, you are...

What are easiest and budget friendly mods to give our new M3 a slightly individual look?

The cheapest thing you can do to your Model 3 to make it different from all the others in a very subtle way is to put your very own personal butt print in its driver seat.

Buying a Tesla Model 3 AWD - advise needed

People seem to have mixed feelings about the electricians they've hired through Tesla. There's nothing magical about them and nothing difficult about installing a 14-50 or a Tesla Wall Connector. Any qualified electrician can handle it. PM me for a couple references for electricians local to...

    .auto pilot with distracted drivers

Multiple people have reported that autopilot has "saved" them from a car swerving into their lane. It probably works pretty well, but also probably waits longer than you would to react. I just take over in that situation and reset autopilot after the idiot is out of range. I don't see much...

How are people applying enough force in NOA steering?

That's not true. Pressing the left scroll button will mute/unmute any media you have playing and pressing the right scroll button will activate voice command. Of course, either one will also serve as anti-nag.

    What will the Homelink do?

I always hit the button on the garage wall, as I enter. Then Homelink closes the door as I drive away. Similarly, when I drive up, Homelink opens the door, but I close it by pushing the button on the wall as I leave the garage. I find that to be the most natural way to use the system. YMMV...

TeslaCam saves the day at a red light camera

In my experience, those lights flash all the time. I'm also in MoCo. I've gotten intersection camera flashes on many occasions when making a right on red (after a complete stop and thorough check for traffic and peds). "Four Corners," in Silver Spring, is notorious for it. None of them have...

Tesla App and Limited Network and Internet Service - Fixes

The "Home 4G" is $399.99 and will cover 1500 sq ft with 4G voice and data. If you can be happy with 3G speeds, the "Connect 3G" (either the Omni or Directional) will cover 5000 sq ft for the same price. Both of these are stationary units, not vehicle based. Again, these are list prices from...

Tesla App and Limited Network and Internet Service - Fixes

A WEBoost unit would help with the cell connectivity. I recommended one to a friend, who had questionable cell signal inside his mountain home. He says it is absolutely wonderful. It is a network agnostic solution, as it boosts everything in the cell bands. Looks like they start around $300...

    Warming with defroster

The main difference between the two sets of screen shots is that @DIY-GUY has his climate set to a particular temperature, while @BobAbooey has his set to "HI." Could be that using the HI setting bypasses the defrost logic.

It wasn't entirely clear from your post, but let me guess: this was the US border agent, right? (Why are our people always such, uh, er, fusspots?) I wonder if just putting the car in park would have satisfied him. I've never been asked to power a car off (electric or gas) at the US/Canada...

Wow. Confirmation that Model 3 is the safest car on the road. You were in a 45 mph collision with a tree, no airbags inflated, and the next day you have the wherewithal to sign up for this forum and post your story. Truly impressive. Chalk up another one for Tesla!

Model 3 seats with lower back problems - others having discomfort?

I've been dealing with a bad lower back for about 35 years (surgery at age 19). I have to be pretty picky about seats and I find the Model 3 to be quite comfortable. It took a little while to find the sweet spot, though. The Gen 1 Model S seats were not great for me. After about 1.5-2 hours...

    GPS map orientation question

Every moving map I ever used in an airplane (mostly, various incarnations of Garmin equipment) had the same option: north up or track up. In my opinion, track up gives a better tactical picture, while north up is more strategic. It all depends on how you're using the map.

    Spontaneous Crack in Glass Roof

Your first option is probably to call the national number for service and see if they can light a fire under your Service Center. Failing that, report it through your Tesla account and request escalation. They should at least be looking at it, to determine the probable cause. There have been...

Don't want heater on, want vent

A better solution would be to provide 2 set points for the climate system: one for heating, one for cooling. The net result would be something like "keep the interior between 65 and 78," say.

    Model 3 - 1 week review after replacing a Model S

Regenerative Breaking: Oh, I get it! A $50K Golf Cart!

Well, then chalk up another "great thing" about your Model 3, because it does exactly that. The brake lights come on any time the deceleration goes beyond a certain threshold. Edit: Beaten to it. Twice!

Tesla promised to take 2 cars in trade...now 10 days before delivery refuses!

Your username implies that you may live in Maryland. If that's the case, then you are likely to get about a $3000 rebate on the excise tax (assuming your car's price is at or below $60k). It doesn't fix the issue with Tesla, but it may reduce it's impact. Just a thought.

I need to buy an Android phone, which one?

That is definitely not true. My Moto G4 (unlocked and on Verizon, but that shouldn't matter) doesn't work too well with the Model 3. I need to toggle airplane mode every single time I want it to unlock the car. And that is after I made sure that the Tesla app is not "battery optimized."...
