Is Tesla’s showroom inventory significantly different than what is shown online?

And almost all cars I checked are now 'demos', just to force the sale in '23. Kind of crappy. Beware of those because not only the rebate could be in jeopardy (according to some here), but the warranty starts when 'punched', so eventual owners won't have the full warranty. At least they're...

No more M3LR in NY [posted 12.28.2023]

The problem is the LR loses the rebate in '24, so that probably explains why they flew out the lots. It'd definitely cost him more, so a Performance might be more attractive. Or might as well wait for the much improved Highland version.

Is Tesla’s showroom inventory significantly different than what is shown online?

At least where I live (El Paso, TX), they don't show you sh*t. In my case, there was a 'demo' in the showroom, which only had 4 miles (so not really a demo), but was scratched/scuffed to hell and back. So asked to check out the reportedly other 3 'demos' at the back, and no dice. So no sale. But...

Discussion : All discussion regarding Model 3 and Tax credit in model 3 subforum

A first grader should understand if you PAID $7,500 in federal taxes, and qualify otherwise, you'd get it all back. And that's whether you still owe it, or you paid it in quarterly estimated tax payments.

Discussion : All discussion regarding Model 3 and Tax credit in model 3 subforum

So how exactly does that work? Do you have to show a dealer your tax return? That doesn't sound right to me, but maybe that's the way it is?

Discussion : All discussion regarding Model 3 and Tax credit in model 3 subforum

If you pay $7,500 or more in FEDERAL TAXES, whether you get a refund or not, AND your adjusted income for 2023 is below certain figures ($300K for married couples, etc), you'd get that back, in the form of an additional $7,500 refund, or a reduction of your estimated tax payment due Jan 15...

    Charging cable overheats

The mobile cable does get warm, especially in summer, where it gets quite hot inside the garage. But it shouldn't get hot, as in too hot to touch. My car always charged at 32A.

Electric consumption during 3 weeks plug in ???

Where I live (El Paso, TX), the EV rate account is very deceiving. They didn't tell me there was a minimum (and quite high) line charge, but I knew that from reading related posts here. So when I asked (and person initially said she didn't know), and was finally given a figure, I'd have to drive...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

Oh, awesome. Those are probably the best UHP A/S tires out there. Plus they're all you need outside a track, plus quieter and longer-lasting than a summer tire. And better grip everywhere, except at track speeds and temperatures. And yes, new is the way to go. Plus there's always the possibility...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

Unfortunately, your feeling was right... and crappy tires at that, as mentioned above. I heard the Bridgestone UHP A/S tire comparable to the Michelin AS4s are like $900 at Costco (installation included), vs about $1,500 (+ installation) for the Michelins, so that sounds like a nice option. I...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

That's good news. But by 'it qualified', you mean just Tesla told you so, right? Is that enough? I don't fully understand how that works. I thought we could check on a government website by punching a VIN, to be 100% sure. It could theoretically get denied once submitted to the IRS, no? Assuming...

Tires: Bridgestone Potenza Sport AS - 235/45R18

An UHP AS tire is a higher performing tire than GT, with the typical drawbacks of added noise, lesser tread life, and to a lesser extent, harsher ride. But the better question is how much worse on each count vs 'x' GT tire. I think the price is basically the same, so at least no difference...

Is it worth getting a new Model 3 that had the computer replaced?

A relevant question: Where the heck can you check the VIN on Tesla's site? I couldn't find it anywhere. And they don't mention year anywhere either... but with the VIN, we'd know with the P or R. Is there a way to find both, or at least the VIN? Thanks.

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

Thank you very much guys. I wouldn't doubt the arrogant person I talked to today would be the manager. He said he gave me his word a demo would qualify...but if it didn't, he wasn't responsible, and I couldn't return the car. Nice word. Ha ha. Oh, and that I should never believe people on the...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

Interesting. Hey, where is the 'system' you talk about? How can I check for a VIN? I went by Tesla this morning, but there was an even bigger idiot there, so just left. Wish I had seen your post earlier, to get a picture of the VIN of that vehicle. But it had many scuffs, so I wouldn't buy it...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

Thank you for your help. So if I'm understanding this correctly, it depends on what the dealer puts on the paperwork if the car qualifies for the rebate or not? Or can they put it qualifies (based on battery criteria), and then the IRS could deny it, due to being demo? And yes, will call Tesla...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

My daughter got COVID, so had to postpone the trip until the 30th (to spend new year with her). So won't have a chance to drive an M3P in Austin before having to decide if I buy an M3P now or not:oops:. Anyway, saw that Tesla put a gray/white P the local dealer has on the showroom floor at the...

I love my M3 but I HATE the floor mats!

It was a PITA on the F-150 mats, since they were metal, so expect a fight. Ha ha. Unless they're plastic now (hope so). Let us know how it went.

Inquiry Regarding New Model 3 or Model Y Long Range Purchase Decision

With all the improvements, I was expecting more than that...but maybe Tesla removed some other crap too, like they did with the mobile cable, parking sensors, 1-yr connectivity (vs 1 month now), etc. But with the improvements listed, a $2K hike would be really mild. Thank you for your input.
  22. JCtx

I love my M3 but I HATE the floor mats!

Those mats look really good. I used to have MaxPiders on my F-150, but those carpeted ones look way nicer. It's a shame the stupid logo leaves 2 holes if removed... which I did anyway. After I bought them, I remember another owner posted identical mats, but without any logo. Forgot details about...

Tires: Bridgestone Potenza Sport AS - 235/45R18

Inquiry Regarding New Model 3 or Model Y Long Range Purchase Decision

A related question: Does anybody have an idea what the prices of the Highland '24 model will be? That's a very important aspect to decide to wait or not. I personally, no way I'd buy a first year model of any car now, even though it's not completely redone. But enough things changed that for...

Can anyone tell me why the stay unlocked at home setting is not happening?

Thank you. The only way I'd install it is if I do it myself. I'd have to see a video on what's involved, but you gave me hope to install it on the M3P. Just hope I can buy it without forcing me to get it installed by a dealer, which would be a non-starter for me. Finally, I don't have a smart...

Your description was awesome, and I'm sure will help many newbies. Thank you again:cool:. I was disappointed initially, but like I mentioned, I just adjusted to the reality, and was happy after that. It wasn't the car's fault; just lack of real world information... which you have to find the...

Driveguard Runflats on a Model 3

You wouldn't reach 40 miles on RFs; they'd collapse before, especially with a heavy car like the M3. And THAT is the problem with RFs; they provide a false sense of security. And even after rolling them deflated for a few miles, they'd be ruined. Unless you work at the Bronx at night, and your...

Can anyone tell me why the stay unlocked at home setting is not happening?

So guess the correct way to set the home address is to TYPE IT IN, rather than storing the current location, right? And have a question about the Home-link, since it was mentioned above. Can you set it to open and close manually only? If yes, that shouldn't affect the home non-locking option...

Hey, can you actually have XM with connectivity? I couldn't do it on my ex-'21 M3 LR. I had Spotify on the car, but couldn't get XM. Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Thank you for the great info you posted. I obviously knew before buying it that we'd never see anything close to EPA ratings for all the factors you mentioned. And I also understand full range either on an EV or gas car, is just not achievable, since I'd NEVER run out of fuel/charge to get it...

What battery cells are in the 2023 M3 LR?

Very informative info folks; thank you very much. My '21 LR was built and bought in Dec '20, so it probably had the 77.8kWh, meaning it was also NCA, just like the current M3P 82.1kWh, correct? So same degradation strategy applies. And I'd have zero problems charging to 55% rather than 60, so...

    Vampire drain again?

I remember our '21 M3 LR used to drop about 1% daily just sitting there, during winter storms (high temps in the teens for days), with the garage close to freezing. So about 7% per week. Reading about it here, it was deemed pretty much normal. EVs don't like the cold.

What exactly does the brake temperature displayed on center pad mean when Tesla is in track mode?

Even my 2020 BMW R1250R motorcycle does automatic F/R brake-force distribution with the front brake lever only (a great feature, since the rear brake pedal only activates the rear brake). ALL cars have done that for a long time now. And yes, the ABS module with 4 independent channels does that...

Can you order a Model 3 Performance without Uberturbine wheels?

I really like the Uberturbine wheels, BUT they should have been 19s, not 20s. Don't understand the obsession of the 'riding on wheels' look; it's just stupid. There's no upside, since they even look bad to me. But it is what it is. Also not a deal-breaker to me, but that's one area where cost...

What battery cells are in the 2023 M3 LR?

Thank you very much. That was pretty much what I did with my ex-'21 LR, which probably had an LG pack. But good to know it's pretty much the same strategy. The car would sit a lot, so would probably charge it to 60, and recharge it when it drops by itself to 50. It gives a decent range with 60...

Sorry to disappoint you, but although I don't believe nearly anything I read, I don't keep track of the stories I do. It's the internet, not a dissertation. All I can tell you is the range on my LR was WAAAAY lower than advertised under every condition, so seemed plausible to me. And could have...

Buying a Tesla for another person

One other fact: In order to get the $7,500 rebate, he'd have to actually have paid at least that much in federal taxes, or he would only get up to what he paid (and file EV tax form 8936 with his '23 tax return). And I mentioned that, because if he cannot pay for the car, he's probably not...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

That might be the discrepancy, which I didn't know. But it's still confusing, since after a full charge, the range (or %) shown is the max possible. So what you're saying is, after that point, the range is reduced 4.5%, so it shows 0 when you still have 4.5% left? Just to understand correctly...

Buying a Tesla for another person

Only the official registered owner on the paperwork would get the rebate. And I'd guess if your friend provides all the information needed (driver's license, etc), you could do it, but not sure if Tesla requires a power of attorney or not. Call them. Good luck.

What battery cells are in the 2023 M3 LR?

After reading this entire thread (very informative), looks like the current M3P (which I'm considering) comes with the Pana NCA 82.1kWh pack. My question is if a regular LR had that battery pack, according to the comment above, it'd have 350+ range. So what is different about the P that lowers...

Can I charge My Tesla at the supercharger every time to 100% or not?

OP, another thing to keep in mind that wasn't mentioned is if there's traffic at a supercharger, you could be penalized to charge over 80%. Not sure about that, or the charges involved, since I always charged at home, but worth looking into. Maybe the experts can chime in on that for you. Also...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

A quick related question. Read that Tesla was caught 'cheating' by exaggerating the range on the screen, meaning they'd show 'x' range, when in reality the car was only capable of 'x - y', with the 'y' being as much as 30 miles. In other words, the car's algorithm was deducting 1+ miles for...

Price on Tesla website vs ordering agreement

It doesn't seem right indeed. The up-charges are legit, but they should be clearly stated on the car's price. I also thought the destination was included, but it's NOT either. Nor a 'order fee' (even if you buy an inventory car), or charging cable, which all add almost 2 grand extra. On the...

    Rerouting inventory car?

I was talking about new inventory cars, so Tesla did offer that in the past. I wanted a brand new '21, so had to order one, since the inventory cars didn't have the new heat pump. Thoughts on the i4 M50 from a former M3P owner

I went to drive a M3 P the other day, but there wasn't one available. So drove a MS LR instead (both 3.1 to 60). It was a boat... but a nice boat. Ha ha. Model 3 performance wheels can you put the 20 inch performance model 3 Uberturbine wheels on a LR Model 3? will they fit ?

All 3 M3 wheel/tire options have pretty much the same overall diameter, and the same tire width, so no issue going with stock 19s or 20s on an LR... but you cannot go to stock 18s on the P, as mentioned above. Not sure the brakes are the issue, since they don't look big at all IMO. I think the...

    What changed from an early '21 M3LR, to a new '23 M3P?

Hey, those are awesome numbers. A C8 doesn't do anywhere near 2.9-sec where I live (4K' altitude), especially being NA. Plus you'd have to abuse the crap out of the finicky DCT with launch control for the best numbers, which I'd never do anyway. So for practical purposes, a non-Z51 (with A/S...
