    How many PCS have failed?

Update & good news! I did have enough documentation of past service calls for the same issue during the warranty period to get my PCS covered under warranty, even though I’m now north of 65k miles. So far it has solved all my charging issues, so I’m very pleased.

    How many PCS have failed?

I’m going to give it a shot. One mistake I made over the years was taking photos from within the Tesla app, which doesn’t save them to your phone. And I didn’t originally save screenshots of service chats within the app, so I have less documentation than I would like.

    How many PCS have failed?

Add my 2018 to the list. It's been showing the "power grid" & related errors for years, well before the basic warranty expired. Service checked it out a couple times without mentioning the PCS. I even did the before end of warranty service, which turned up nothing. Now that I'm down to 16A...

Anywhere in LA to rent a Model 3 (or Y) that's NOT peer to peer?

I’ve rented a couple Teslas & other cars from Turo over the years, and everything went well, but Gateway was definitely cheaper. Especially if you take the higher insurance coverage with Turo.

Anywhere in LA to rent a Model 3 (or Y) that's NOT peer to peer?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I’m posting this here in case someone does a search on this topic. I rented a Model 3 from Gateway Rent A Car for a month. Jason Kennedy couldn’t have been easier & nicer to deal with. I had app access so it was just like being in my own car...

    ETA Change during Roadtrip

But if it’s tapering the newer cars more conservatively, I’m wondering why the older cars don’t seem to need to taper early?

Trying to identify this annoying sound when I'm relaxing in the Model 3

Sorry for the non technical answer, but maybe keep an extra pillow in the car when you’re planning to sleep or chill in the car & drop it into the driver’s footwell to muffle the sound on those occasions?

    End of warranty inspection

Did they give you a list of what they inspect for? I’m considering doing the same & am wondering what components they inspect.

What is the max kW a model 3 Performance can charge on home charging?

According to the chart @jjrandorin posted, the UK Wall Charger is only capable of 7.4kW in single phase at a voltage roughly equivalent to US phase to phase voltage. I don’t believe any US spec Teslas can accept 3 phase. The US & UK spec cars & charging equipment are apples & oranges.
  13. E

What is the max kW a model 3 Performance can charge on home charging?

Good point, and even the S & X are limited to 16.6kW, so the Wall Charger is somewhat future proofed at 22kW.
  14. E

What is the max kW a model 3 Performance can charge on home charging?

Thanks for digging up that info. It’s what I suspected, ie that 22kW is possible through 3 phase charging at Euro voltages. Since I have access to 3 phase at work, I’m now officially jealous of 22kW charging!
  15. E

What is the max kW a model 3 Performance can charge on home charging?

Is 11kW true for UK cars also? Since they have a CCS Type 2 port, might UK M3s be capable of 22kW? Coincidentally I recently read a Polestar review from Europe that mentioned it charged at 22kW at curbside L2 EVSEs. I believe CCS Type 2 is capable of 3 phase AC charging. OP might want to repost...

    Tire Rotation

Nice to read your recommendation for Tire Pros on Rosemead. I just had a great experience buying tires from Tire Central on Broadway in San Gabriel. They do a lot of Teslas. They use a torque wrench. Their prices are competitive & they’re super nice guys. Just wanted to recommend them to anyone...

To sticker, or not to sticker...

I'm leaning towards voting stickers on, but one thing would bother me. I'd have to keep them lined up the same front and back like I do with my center cap T emblems 😁

Bluetooth TPMS for Model 3 and Y

Did you try mounting them on your 2019 before you sold them? I’m super curious to hear if anyone has tried the Bluetooth TPMS on a 433MHz car. Since the older cars have other Bluetooth functions, I’m wondering if it’s just a question of software to get them working?

Are SR3s hard to sell? [tesla model 3 SR / SR+]

My 2018 w/EAP was $55k too. Would’ve been $54k in black. The only other options available at the time were Sport wheels for another $1k (or was it $1.5k?) and FSD for $3k.

    Tesla insurance

Give them a call. They answer the phone quickly, and making changes to your coverage usually takes effect the next day. The only thing I dislike is having my credit card charged monthly. I’d prefer to pay for the year.

    Tesla insurance

If you call them, they can actually add quite a few extras that aren’t offered online. I fiddled with my coverages and levels quite a bit.

My turn to be a pedant! Public 208-240VAC J1772 plugs are Level 2. I thought the EvGo stations with Tesla plugs were only in California? I’d love to be wrong about this... Is that a wrap on the Aero cover in your profile pic? It looks pretty cool!

    New Here - New Car!

Thanks! I was trying to keep it simple since OP said it was an LR, but you’re absolutely right to clarify. I should’ve just posted the Tesla charging speed chart that I almost searched for to post. ;) And of course there’s no guarantee any particular Destination Charger is installed on a 60A...

    New Here - New Car!

I think ~30 miles added per hour of charging on public J1772 is the maximum l would expect. I think the J1772 standard is technically capable of adding 50 mph but I’ve never seen anything close to that at a public charger. If you have no access to DC fast charging on the way home, I would look...

    New Here - New Car!

ChargePoint does offer both but there’s no Tesla adapter for CCS1. (That’s currently a hot topic in several other threads.) So you can safely filter CCS out in PlugShare.

    New Here - New Car!

Kind of a long shot but if you’re traveling home through Houston AND can rent or borrow a Chademo adapter, you’d have the option of using Chademo chargers. They’re slower than Superchargers but faster than J1772. I checked on PlugShare and there are no Chademo chargers on I-20 east of Dallas...
  41. E

    New Here - New Car!

Even more reason to ask them to let you test drive over to the nearest Supercharger to test this out. Be aware the car you’re looking at may not have the latest software updates, so might not have the new payment option enabled yet.
  42. E

    New Here - New Car!

Assuming 3rd party used car lot, how long does it take for Tesla to transfer ownership after a sale so the car shows up on OP’s account for Supercharging? Which reminds me, OP should sign the car out of whatever account it’s logged into and sign in with his own account. Maybe @Marius A ’s tip...
  43. E

    New Here - New Car!

Now that you mention it, I interpreted OP’s use of “pre-owned” and “dealership” to mean 3rd party dealership, so my paranoia doesn’t apply if OP is buying pre-owned directly from Tesla. OP should still verify Supercharging is working before leaving on a 7 hr trip home.
  44. E

    New Here - New Car!

Not to sound too paranoid, but since you’re buying it from a dealer who may or may not be Tesla savvy, verify a couple things before you commit. If possible, see if they’ll let you take it to a nearby Supercharger to make sure it supercharges. Also check the VIN on the screen matches the VIN on...

Buying a used MY - What information to request.

I would ask for a picture of the screen that pops up when you press the “T” logo. That screen shows the VIN and the upgrades installed on the vehicle. My car is in the shop or I’d post a pic for reference. Maybe someone else with FSD can post a pic for you?
