[Feature request] Model Y Performance 0-60 in 2.99s? How much $$$$ will you pay?

It's very likely that all of the other drivetrain components are not up to the task to do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. Battery, wiring, motor, and all the mechanical bits have to be up to the task in terms of durability. It's quite probably the car was no overengineered to the extent it would...

2022 Model Y stops responding to all keys

Just to bring some closure to this issue... we had 4 things going on. 1. The keycard had unpaired itself from the vehicle for no apparent reason. The technician repaired it and all is fine. 2. Our keyfob had completely gone bad. Dead. This was replaced free of charge and works fine now. 3...

2022 Model Y stops responding to all keys

Turns out one of our keycards is completely nonfunctional now... The other one works fine (???) The keyfob was completely nonfunctional - none of the buttons worked or did anything. I removed it from the car, then readded it. Now it works, but went nonfunctional again within 24 hours...

2022 Model Y stops responding to all keys

Occasionally we'll have issues with the phone not connecting to the car properly. It's an inconvenience, but we are still able to drive off once we get inside the car. My issue was yesterday is that while in the car, none of our keys were recognized and we were not able to drive.

2022 Model Y stops responding to all keys

Not yet... I'm going to play with the car a little bit more today and see if the issue resolves itself. I wanted to ask the forum first to see if anyone else had an easy solution first.

2022 Model Y stops responding to all keys

My wife was out running errands yesterday and called me. She said the car won't start. Occasionally the Model Y won't connect to her phone and she thought this was just another one of those times. She used her Tesla keycard - which has never failed us. Although she could get into the car...

    Tires

The mileage on the current set of tires matters less than the overall wear on the tires. If you've got 50% life left in the tires (about 6/32" inch), then I personally would just find an identical used tire to what you have with about the same amount of wear and buy that. If you've got 25%...

Range Issue: Model Y Performance 2022

You might be 240-250mi of range going 70. I don't know how slow you have to drive to get the full 300 miles on a charge, but it's way slower than most people are willing to drive on a long trip.

    disappointed about tesla interior

You are correct and while Tesla is "ok" now - simply because they are the only one shipping cars in serious volume - I think this will be a problem in the long run. At the price point these cars are transacting at, I feel like most consumers expect a nicer interior. If the competitors offer...

How well does a new 2022 MYP ride?

So now that i've taken delivery of my 2022 MYP, it's fun to revisit this thread. I was pretty surprised at how well the new car drove relative to what I was expecting. I could have lived with the ride of the 21" wheels, but probably not the practical aspects of them. The silly low profile of...

    Pathetic mileage

Even with 5 people in the car at highway speed, your wh/mi should be no higher than 350. 500 seems too high. My guess is either elevation change, headwinds, or a tire issue are to blame.

Can I reuse Tesla TPMS on aftermarket wheels?

I don't intend on keeping the old wheels or tires. Based on what I've seen, I'm pretty sure I can get more for the wheels and tires separately, so it makes sense to have them dismounted to remove the TPMS. Plus, I save $300 from not having to buying a new set.

Can I reuse Tesla TPMS on aftermarket wheels?

I'm getting my MYP in about a week or so. I'm swapping out the stock 21" wheels with 19" Martians. My question is, can my tire shop simply take off the TPMS that are currently on the 21" wheels and reinstall them on the Martian wheels? I know the Martians are compatible with Tesla TPMS, but I...

2022 MYP range estimate with 19” Martian wheels?

The motors are different (and purportedly less efficient) in the performance version. It is definitely NOT more efficient. The real world range of the MYP is way worse than the MYLR. Adding smaller wheels helps this somewhat, but I've never seen a single instance in which someone was able...
  28. deepbluejh

2022 MYP range estimate with 19” Martian wheels?

Even with the 19" Gemini wheels, you won't get the same real world range as a MYLR with the same 19" Gemini wheels. It will get you closer, for sure, but the MYP is less efficient than the LR so you won't get all the way there.

How well does a new 2022 MYP ride?

Lol... lots of jumping to conclusions here. The car is mainly for my wife, though I'll be spending a lot of time in it too. I've spent the last 10 years driving a modified Honda S2000 and Porsche Cayman GTS. I'm very familiar with performance cars and firm suspensions don't bother me at all...

    21s, 20s or 19s?

The width and compound of the tire has a much bigger effect on performance than the diameter of the wheel. The 21" Uberturbine wheels are staggered (with 275 in back). Moving to a narrower all-season tire is going to impart a performance penalty, regardless of what the diameter of the wheel...

How well does a new 2022 MYP ride?

I drove a '21 LR about 6 months ago and was perfectly happy with the ride (so was my wife). We currently have a '13 MS that rides significantly worse than the new MY LR.

How well does a new 2022 MYP ride?

I can't imagine the Mercedes driving all that badly, so it's probably a testament to how well the Tesla drives.
  35. deepbluejh

How well does a new 2022 MYP ride?

If I got the performance, I would definitely move to 19" or 20" wheels, just for the sake of ride quality and cheaper tires.

How well does a new 2022 MYP ride?

I was having a conversation with someone on Reddit about the ride quality of the new Model Ys and there was a comment about the new Model Y performance cars riding significantly better than the older cars. Speculation is that there was a recent suspension change contributing to this, but...

    Plaid facts and figures

As someone with extensive experience on a racetrack (not in a Tesla), i can state without hesitation a Plaid MS would be a terrible car to "learn" track driving on. Way too fast + Way too heavy = serious consequences for failure.

2013 Model S 85 Battery 🔋 Range and Charging Max

Is there documentation that the $22k will actually get you a brand new battery pack with the latest cell chemistry? Also, what kind of warranty is there on this brand new battery? Will it charge at higher rates than the original battery? Given that a new model S is basically 100 grand, 22k...

Anyone come from an older Model S? How is the Y in comparison?

I still think its rather silly to have to spend $4000+ on a new suspension for a brand new $50k car to make it ride well. Fortunately after actually driving the car (vs listening to forum chatter) I don't think this will be necessary. We drove a Y with the 19" wheel and the ride was pretty...

Anyone come from an older Model S? How is the Y in comparison?

After driving a new Y I can state that rides substantially better than our 13S. Not as smooth as the 16S, but certainly good enough and not objectionable. Overall both my wife and I liked the car and will probably be buying one once the refresh comes out and manufacturing improves somewhat...

Anyone come from an older Model S? How is the Y in comparison?

Lol... I also think the Y is kinda ugly. Easily the worst looking car that Tesla makes. That said... in the right color and with the right wheels (and tint), it looks decent and I'd probably get used to it. The price point and form factor are too good to overlook. We still might get one, if...

Anyone come from an older Model S? How is the Y in comparison?

This is what I'm worried about. We are currently driving a 2017 S75 and it drives dramatically better than our 2013 S85. I definitely would not want anything that drove any rougher than our current 2013 car.
  46. deepbluejh

Anyone come from an older Model S? How is the Y in comparison?

Also to note... we would probably get the 19" wheels and I'm not against swapping out the coilovers for a smoother set, though the idea of having to do this on a brand new car is a little silly.
  47. deepbluejh

Anyone come from an older Model S? How is the Y in comparison?

My wife and I currently own a 2013 Model S 85KW and just flipped 100k miles. Long story short, we are looking to get into a newer car with a warranty as we're worried about owning our current car outside of warranty (and would like more range). We have one child, and will probably have one...

    '13 Model S - dragging caliper?

I've got a 2013 Model S and I've noticed the front left wheel seems to accumulate a LOT more brake dust than the other three wheels. On closer inspect, I've noticed that the brake pads on that caliper are just about worn out - while the ones on the other front side have a lot more life left in...
