Cracked roof using roof rack w/ cargo box

Late to the party but I think that 3rd party racks are a lot of the problem. There are subtle but important differences. Many of the rubber pads on the 3rd party racks are slightly different. A MAJOR difference though is in the J clips. The genuine Tesla clips are full surface welded while...

Stuck on Safety Score program version 1.2

Straight line acceleration doesn't affect your score. "Hard cornering" does. "Hard braking" does. Neither of these have a huge weight but you have to drive like your great grandma to avoid them. You don't even have to touch the brake to get hit with "hard braking". "Close following" is a...

    Papafox's Daily TSLA Trading Charts

"Besides the extremely high number of call options expiring on Jan 21, notice that the max pain number is 740. Yep, that's no typo. " Could you give us some insight on the 1/21 max pain of 740 that you mentioned in the January 7th post? What effect do you think this will have next week, if...

3 years on, I have decided to move on from my beloved X

Not holding my breath on that. I'd take a late year 2016 Model S.

3 years on, I have decided to move on from my beloved X

Ordered a Cybertruck for use as an SUV with massive space and utility although I never carry as many people as you. Stainless steel body, bad weather capability and weatherproof vault were significant considerations.

First significant problem with LR AWD after 2 years and 28k miles

I've wondered the same thing. Anything that would repel rodents.

So you apparently don't live near Washington DC. ;-) Sorry, couldn't resist...

First significant problem with LR AWD after 2 years and 28k miles

I've had 2 friends that have had their Prius's destroyed (totaled) by mice chewing the wires. I've heard that the Chevy Bolt also has the problem (soy based insulation).

Why is FSD not transferable to your next Tesla?

I'd like to see Tesla offer a low cost self driving package (when it's finished and reliable) for people who need it to increase their mobility such as older folks, people with disabilities, people with vision problems, other medical conditions that make driving challenging, etc. That would be...

Used Teslas now 1 year / 10k mile warranties

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll schedule a drive in a RWD Model 3 once the snow flies. Actually we had snow yesterday but it didn't stick. I know that it also makes a big difference that the undercarriage of the Tesla is smooth. Story: We bought 2 new Hondas in 1989, one was a CRX HF and...

Used Teslas now 1 year / 10k mile warranties

Thanks for the reply. I live in mid rural Minnesnowta. I've wondered about how effective the Tesla RWD is compared to ICE cars. The Subaru AWD is so superior to ICE FWD or RWD in snow country that it would be hard to go back. The Cybertruck I preordered was the 2 motor version. Stainless...

Used Teslas now 1 year / 10k mile warranties

I've been pretty actively looking at the CPO Model S while waiting for my Cybertruck. But with this warranty change they're way less attractive, especially since the prices have stayed essentially the same. Maybe an entry level Model 3 for a stopgap. Personally wish they would make a standard...

After FSD 3.0, Summon accident!!! Crashed my bumper and hood

Agree. I've had 2 neighbors back into a 9" wide (and 6' tall) post next to my driveway with their ICE vehicles as they were turning around for some reason. Once it was in the winter (black pole against a white background) and they did a good deal of damage to their bumper and back panel...

    Starlink IPO

I agree, that OneWeb business model is a little distasteful. A bit like investing in tobacco companies.

    Starlink IPO

It'll take a while before the IPO actually happens. Initial users are due to be online mid 2020 in the northern US and Canada. I'm in Minnesota. Hope that we'll have early availability. Internet speeds are generally poor here except in the Twin Cities. Since I build PCs I get asked to set...

    Starlink IPO

Dave Lee has an interesting discussion today on a possible Starlink IPO: The first 12 minutes or so are specifically about Starlink. Personally I can't wait to ditch the exceedingly slow CenturyLink DSL that is the only "broadband" available in our area.
