    Tire wear depth

If your Continental ProContact RX are wearing 2x as fast in the rear than the front, you should get your alignment checked.

    Tire wear depth

Correct. My reference was based upon the article that was posted, which were earlier versions of the Model S.

    Tire wear depth

What tires are you using on the Y LR? I rotate my tires when the tread depth difference is 2/32" between the front and rear and my tires are wearing evenly. I just pulled off my summer set (Continental ExtremeContact) and they're both at 4/32" currently. Same with the stock Continental...

    Tire wear depth

I don't think this is a good article to reference due to the differences in the motor setup between the older S and the current powertrains. The Y uses induction motor in the front (same as the older S) but the permanent rear magnet motor in the rear. The S uses induction motors front and rear...

Charges to 84% when charge set to 80%

Conversely, in the winter you may find it falling a few percentage short of your target level. The CAC value fluctuates with the temperature, so it'll overshoot in warmer temps, undershoot in cooler temps.
  6. pt19713

    Tire wear depth

I'll do new datalogs in the winter, but I believe a recent update has the front motor more involved with the brake regen when there's rear axle slippage detected. This was done for more front end stability during poor traction conditions. Previously, the front motor provided essentially no...

Heat pump vs Resistive on Model 3

I don't have a 2018-2020 Model 3 to compare since my wife and I have heat pumps in both vehicles (2020 Y LR, 2021 3 P). I have 3 full summers and 2 winters in my Y, 2 summers and 1 winter in the 3. Ironically, the car is less efficient in the summer. I'm pulling my info from the car with the...

Vendor Show Off Your Aftermarket Model Y Wheels

No, no issues. The 255mm tire on the 9" width is perfect. I've done the math and it's perfectly fine. As long as you're not towing and have four very large adults in the car and the hatch is isn't loaded with 900 lbs of bricks, the tires and wheels can handle the load.

Note, it's a 4 year warranty for residential use, 1 year for commercial use, although most of us will fall under the 4 year warranty umbrella.

Can't jack one corner (battery flex)?

I use a Milwaukee Stubby with a 21mm impact wrench thin wall socket, along with ear protection. There's nothing special about the Tesla lug nuts & wheel studs that should prevent you from using normal tools. Husky 50-250 ft-lb torque wrench.

They could also keep it simple. Cold/warm/hot/pull over and shut the car off. Just like the old analog coolant temp gauges.

Does preheating the car (climate option in app) also precondition the battery?

I posted some information here in post #8 and #9: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/5318183/ Short answer is yes. Disregard my earlier comments in the thread (post 5) since software updates since then have eliminated previous issues. Last year I used the cabin heat to precondition. This...

    Model Y lowering springs

Yeah, it's dependent upon the springs. My MPP coilover setup took about 1000 miles before they settled. I kept measuring every few hundred miles and sort of gave up initially since I wasn't seeing any drop. My LR was lowered around 2" and my rear camber settled at -2.7, to give you some sort of...
  22. pt19713

    Model Y lowering springs

Hopefully soon since a 1.5" drop is probably going to leave the car at around -2.0 camber in the back. They'll make the tires wear out fairly quick.

    4.8 to 4.2 acceleration upgrade

This is after. I didn't have a Dragy when stock, so I don't have a baseline. My best guess is 2.05.

    4.8 to 4.2 acceleration upgrade

Model Y LR Extended Range Fix

Correct. This applies when the vehicle is new. The issue with chasing after the EPA range is due to degradation. After 1 year/ 15k miles, most Teslas are already down 5-10% of max capacity, makes the EPA range less likely to be achievable. Luckily the degradation rate slows down after the...

Model Y LR Extended Range Fix

Original poster has a 2020 model, which has a 78 kWh pack with 75 kWh usable. Newer vehicles get the 82 kWh pack with 80 kWh usable. All 2021+ Y Performance get the 82 kWh pack (80 usable) . Some early 2021 Y LR have only 78 kWh usable. It's a mess keeping track of it all.

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I understand the torque specs on the nut since the MPP installation instructions lists the procedure, just looking for the size on the nut and bolt. I'll have to order from Tesla. I was looking to get it so I can fix it this weekend, but doesn't appear anyone knows the specs on the hardware.

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Does anyone know the spec on the 21mm nut that holds the rear camber arm into the bracket? I think the shop that installed it may not have torqued it to spec... I noticed my camber being excessive, along with a noise from the rear and found this.

Superchargers: 150kW, 250kW ... is there much difference?

While the vehicle is in motion, the front Stator motor draws typically 2.0 kW for the preconditioning. It'll waver and bounce around between 1.5-2.5 kW but generally, it's around 2.0 kWh. Since dual motor 3 and Y are 100% RWD unless there's a traction issue on the rear axle, or more power is...

Superchargers: 150kW, 250kW ... is there much difference?

I'll test this at some point this winter but from what I'm seeing now, there's no difference in the coolant flow, Stator motor temps, coolant temp prior to entering the battery pack, etc. I have my logs pre-2021.4.11 and post-2021.4.11, so I'll be able to compare with the more recent software...

2022 Model Y range on screen after a charge

Ah, you're right. Page 69. rev 2021.36 I know I looked at this 2 months ago and the verbiage was different, though. Edit: It appears the 2020 owner's manual does not have the verbiage, the 2021 and 2022 does. Here's the 2020:

2022 Model Y range on screen after a charge

Yep. This is from an older revision on the owner's manual which has since been removed since Tesla wants to keep all the information as vague as possible, for some odd reason. The main UI display is simply the EPA rated range (miles per kWh) times Nominal Battery Pack Remaining, so something...

    4680 on Model Y?

This is captured in the EPA request for CoC, as I stated previously. It's pretty obvious if we see a significant change in the battery pack weight, volume, etc as shown below. Little known fact. 2022 Model 3 Long Range have a higher nominal usable pack size than the 3 Performance. Last year...
  42. pt19713

    4680 on Model Y?

This is unlikely. Tesla (and other manufacturers) have to qualify their vehicle setup with the EPA, so any change has to be re-certified. Tesla has submitted the 2022 vehicles (done in October 2021). If you know where to look, you would find the 4680 cells being certified months before it's...

My experience is similar. Most of the difference in comfort is at higher speeds.

    Questions from a newb

Yeah, Tesla should offer one tire option like some manufacturers do. Standard set is all-season, optional no upcharge summer performance tire. In terms of #1 and efficiency, if you take delivery in colder weather, it'll be worse than normal.
