LEDs are a drop in replacement. Ten minutes per side. The most time is taken in stuffing the extra wire into the light bucket. Much brighter than my stock halogens.

Sorry for the delay, but not really a solution. What I did was install LED lights in the lows, and pulled the fuses for the highs since they were staying on all the time and my light output was adequate with the low beams only. no no more lights on all the time while charging. However, I get...

Worn ignition cylinder DIY replacement and re-key.

@EV Powers: all your impressions of my post are correct. I ordered mine from Amazon but this item is currently out of stock. Just did a guick Google search and found the proper Febi part (02748) on Trodo.com. They are in the EU, but they offer DHL worldwide express, which should be pretty quick...

Worn ignition cylinder DIY replacement and re-key.

My replacement decision was made because the cylinder was becoming more difficult to turn and it was becoming more difficult to pull the key out. I bought the car at 13k. Not sure how heavy the POs keyring was. Mine’s light. Some more info here, esp about the 1.5s...

Worn ignition cylinder DIY replacement and re-key.

At about 20,000 miles, my original ignition cylinder is about worn out. It has been getting increasingly difficult both turn on the car and remove the key, so I figured before I got stuck somewhere I would replace it. When looking to source parts, I came across a matching Vauxhall replacement...

What have you done to your Roadster today (or lately)...

Bought carbon fiber an instrument cowl and central vent cover for my 1.5. These were eBay purchases from China-based seller stonecarbon2009, and were advertised as Lotus Elise and roadster bits. Each was $201 and the combined the shipping was $50. They were not exzctly plug and play, as I had to...

What have you done to your Roadster today (or lately)...

New wheels for # 364. It took me forever to find something I liked, but I think these are really great looking wheels and they are fairly priced. They arrived within a week from Germany. The fronts are 16 x 7 ET+35, and the rears are 17 X7.5 ET +38. Weights are 16.4/19 # and they are TUV...

Clunk in rear during initial acceleration

Here’s another possibility. Look at post #2 by jason.tv: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/is-it-normal-for-the-clunk-noise-from-rear-when-accelerating-deaccelerating.192364/ I have the same clunk in mine, and am going to check next time I have the car in the air.

    Roadster Service and ‘The App’

A question about the service: since they are going to be balancing the battery what SOC Is best for them to perform this procedure? Reason being, I live about 100 miles away from the SC and need to either drive there the night before and charge up or arrive with a low battery, depending.

Just had a problem of getting a human on the line when I called the service center in Santa Barbara. I then emailed [email protected] and Mike has been helpful in trying to set something up for me. I’d be surprised if you did not get a reply within one or two days.

    Headlight weirdness and opinions/advice needed

Thanks for your reply. The high and low beams- all four bulbs- are on with charging, when the key is turned on with the dash light switch in any position, and with the stalk in both the low and high position. In addition all 4 stay on several minutes after the key is removed and the car is...

    Headlight weirdness and opinions/advice needed

Hi all, Roadster number 364 flashed me a low beam or dip light warning last week as I started it. I clicked it off without really looking at it (my bad). Since that time, my headlight behavior has changed dramatically. The headlights turn on when the ignition is turned on no matter what position...

    Xenon HID upgrade

Question for Matteni and hanknum: with the Aukee lights you installed, did you put the pigtail with the driver box into the headlight housing and then recap the rear, or did you leave it open to vent heat? On previous installations, I have been able to stuff everything into the outboard side of...

    Xenon HID upgrade

@hanknum, Glad you’re seeing well in the darkness. I’m not sure my current solution is optimal. My 9011 bulbs aren’t great and I just bought a set of low beams that Matteni installed in his car, and hoping to avoid external resistors like he did. The 6000k color temperature has me a bit worried...

1.5 owners: How to ditch your JVC HU for one with ISO connections.

1.5 owners: How to ditch your JVC HU for one with ISO connections.

I love my car, but over the brief 8+ months of ownership I have really taken a dislike to the JVC. I decided to do something about it after swapping out the speakers last week. After searching all threads for a solution, I came up empty. Apologies if something like this has been posted before...

No Brainer 4" drop-in speaker upgrade phenomenon

Just to add another data point to the conversation, I replaced all four speakers today with 4 inch coaxial Infinity REF-4032 CFX s. OEM Driver's Side Blind Spot Solution

Cool conversion. Looks like you went for options 04a on the exterior mirror page. There is an option just above for two convex mirrors without the script for $50.xxThat would be another nice option. Did you have any problem separating the mirror base from the housing, i.e. tabs breaking, etc...

    Visium Unboxing!

Congrats on your Visium! I have had one on my car for the last 2 months and it has been a great addition. A bit hot in the sun, especially after parking in the sun, but that’s a minor inconvenience. One thing I did notice with mine is that the front bolts loosened a bit over time and steadily...

    Xenon HID upgrade

You do not need to remove the headlight. I was able to remove/install the bulbs by turning the wheel to the outside of the fender (i.e. turn the wheel all the way to the left while working on the drivers side and vice versa) and lifting the body up about 3 inches with a jack. I then able to...

    Xenon HID upgrade

@IslandRoadster: To be fair, the chart you referenced in your post comes from a company that sells LED lighting solutions, so not exactly an objective source. Xenon HID upgrade

Well, I am a quitter. After trying four sets of Sealight bulbs, all triggering highbeam only default mode, and being leary of the heat the resistors put off, I took MarkDave’s advice and went to a 9011 bulbs. I bought ACDelcos, which are rebadged Vosla bulbs. The good news is they are about...

    Xenon HID upgrade

Not that I want to muddy the waters anymore than they already are, but after getting check low beam alerts and car defaulting to high beams on two previous bulb sets (see above), I installed the SEALIGHT X3 9005 low beams and got the same error and high beam default. I guess I need to decide...

    Xenon HID upgrade

@Matteni, thanks for chiming in so quickly. I canceled the resistors and ordered the earlier version of his bulbs like mpt installed in his roadster. I hope I also have no error codes. Now I have to scour the fleet and see if I can use the now-installed bulbs in any of my other cars. Do you...

Greetings and a Q about range and highway speeds

Hi Henry, it”s a deal! The heater button is shown in the photo. The temperature control dial above the button only works if you have either the air conditioning (the button to the left of the heater button), or the heater button itself activated. Otherwise you’re twiddling it for nothing.

    Xenon HID upgrade

Like Matteni, I installed the SEALIGHT Scoparc S2 low beams today and also have the error messages, and the car has defaulted to high beams only. I ordered the resistors, so that will hopefully end of the problem. Installation was very easy. I merely lifted the chassis of the car up a bit with...

@hcsharp: thanks, that is a great offer and I may take you up on it. I haven’t dug into the roadster enough to know if I have adjustable suspension or not. Will put it up in the year when I change to LED headlights and figure it out.
