Buying used from Tesla, bad experience, any recourse?

Sounds like my ex-wife, but once you get in and rev her up, all the negatives disappear into the distance temporarily.

Buying used from Tesla, bad experience, any recourse?

Agreed. I have never owned a new car for 20 years if my adult life. All Japanese cars and not a single unexpected repair. I throughly researched each vehicle and avoided the major flaws. We don’t have this type of hindsight yet with Tesla’s since they are relatively new.

Buying used from Tesla, bad experience, any recourse?

Have you or your attorney read the purchase agreement? I’m inclined to think Tesla has no interest of taking this lemon off of you until legally required. May be time to lawyer up. On a broader scale, Tesla has a debt:equity ratio of 3:2 so they are in no place to be offering goodwill credits...

    Model X Lease return

Excess Wear and Use Guide Let us know how it goes. I’m interested to see if they will change the terms and conditions of the lease return as they did my original lease.

That’s because if you’re already calling her your wife, she’s already won the game. Well-drafted pre-nuptial agreements don’t always hold up on court so don’t bother.

Financial Considerations -- An Important Decision

It cost me a $100 order fee which they claim is non refundable. I appreciated the time the sales agents spent with me so will probably let them keep it. There’s always the possibility of a chargeback since they did not fulfill the terms of the order agreement, namely following through to sell...

Financial Considerations -- An Important Decision

I want to see the final agreement after you submit your application to Finance. Mine is stuck in Finance hell after they gave me these estimates that are non-binding. I submitted my agreed terms and they came back with changed residual (which they did not show on the lease), which increased...

Random unauthorized Full self driving capability upgrade

I've been waiting around for Tesla Finance to get back to me back honoring the original lease I agreed to, which they went and increased $12k and then $2k more, all without showing a residual amount (they hid it from the original lease). So I continue to lurk on these forums, excited about the...

    Lease residual fluctuating

Thanks to the Internet, we can all become more aware of situations like our own. Your experience is exactly what’s happening with me. We are in the silent minority because Tesla wants consumers to purchase and bear all the risks, since they cannot subsidize leases like the big boys. It’s not...

Long work commute, possible long term durability problems?

The Ford model T began mass production in 1908. The Nissan Leaf in 2010 and Tesla Model S in 2012. So I would argue that in the grand scheme of things, mass production and acceptance of EV are still in the early stages of history and mass adoption.

Long work commute, possible long term durability problems?

The answer to your question would require the ability to predict the future. Tesloop has some cars in the 400k mi range so it’s possible to get a lot of miles from a Tesla. However with your particular vehicle, there are too many variables to predict reliably. you could just enjoy the car and...

    Unsure what to do

For a car that retails for over $100k, I would be disappointed with all those issues. Thank you for being a beta tester for the future generations.

Owners delivery stories, photos and first impressions

This is the attitude that Tesla seems to take: ignore the negative and accentuate the positive. It’s a subtle Jedi mind trick but it works well in this world where many are weak minded.

Long Range Plus and 22" Wheels

I think the standard reply from the sales people is 10-20% estimated but of course it can change. there’s a thread showing kWh/mi used and some people have tested 20 vs 22” wheels

    Lease residual fluctuating

    - The more you drive your purchased car, the more it depreciates in value, so you are still paying for it. - Have you tried to sell a $100k+ car with an accident reported on Carfax? Hint: people with that kind of money demand perfection and would rather have a car with no accidents. - Minor...

    Lease residual fluctuating

My thoughts exactly. I’m also going to use the vehicle for business. I also don’t like Tesla’s high debt to income ratio. I also am not interested in owning an antiquated piece of tech. I also like having Tesla take the risk of diminished value if I’m hit in the car. I also do not get pride of...

Buy 2016 X90D or Lease 2020 Long Range Model X

Was your lease process smooth? Did they change the numbers/terms on you? It may be the state that I'm in, but so far the lease process is horrendous, my terms were changed 3x on me and residual is not printed on the final agreement.

    Lease residual fluctuating

Before I agreed to the lease, I read in other TMC threads that Tesla was "messing with" the residuals because the math did not add up. I guess I had my rose-colored Tesla glasses on and didn't believe it would happen to me. It just did. Mathematically, I used to get 0 points on a math problem...

    Lease residual fluctuating

I understand 100% that Tesla would rather me buy it. They are $10 billion in debt As principle though, you honor your agreement and they are not. I’d much rather they increase the money factor to something equivalent to 20% instead of changing the terms at the very last phase of the deal...

    Lease residual fluctuating

Update: there is a third version of the lease which has been “accepted” for me and my car advanced to the Delivery stage. The total lease amount is increased $2000 more to $62,000. I am really regretting walking into the Tesla showroom.

FSD option - should I get it or hold off

Assuming this is a reliable report, it goes to show how its most prudent to pay for a completed, high quality product. FSD doesn't fit that definition.

Buy 2016 X90D or Lease 2020 Long Range Model X

This is my thought process as well. A lot of it depends on your risk tolerance. I'm fairly conservative. Everybody is guessing what future residuals will be. IC engines are refined and mature. They have their pros and cons. EV platforms are not. Battery technology, EV powertrains are all in...

    Lease residual fluctuating

Hi everyone, long time read, first time poster. Have an inventory MX on order, agreed to their lease terms and it went to underwriting. Despite 825+ FICO and comfortable 6 figure, stable income, they want 15% down. On a lease. The worst part is they changed the residual from $69k (which was on...
