I would say throw the numbers down for new battery and new DU I know DU has 4 year 50k miles not sure about battery warranty but I bet it’s substantially less. From what’s I’ve seen build quality is better on the older cars vs what you see in newer cars.

What did you fiddle with if you dont mind me asking. Tesla is telling me the part is no longer available. They are checking other regions but at the moment i am SOL unless i was to replace the whole bottom seat. Not the ideal choice.

Just as a heads up so someone like me doesn’t make the same mistake. This will not fit a drop in console pre-2016. Will only work with a premium console or I would assume newer X or S. I tried in mine it will fit but you cannot close the lid and it doesn’t lock in place.

I have the same problem 2014 IC slow to boot. MCU was replaced 2 years ago. I noticed this after an update just cant remember which one to where it goes into like a deep sleep mode overnight to where you have to press the brake pedal to wake it up. Then the message comes on powering up.

So just adding a couple of pics to this thread. I did not want to tap into 12volt so I added a usb hub and added a front usb-c and USB plus kept the cigarette lighter. I should have drilled out the hole for the add-in usb a little higher then I did. Something to note for next time.

I would say the instructions are for a retrofit. These parts look to be pulled from a Newer car so in theory should fit all Tesla Model S. Instructions are just specific to the retrofit since the 2012-2016 did not come with the rear cupholder as an option.

Thanks I will try that. Funny part is I had one come out to replace a key and he messed with it but I guess he didn’t reset the control module. I’ll reach out and see what they say.
