About to leave warranty - any recommendations? Should I get a service?

I have an MX so maybe slightly different from the M3 experience that the early part of this thread focused on, however, for anybody that actually reads this far down the thread - mine was coming to the end of the 4yr warranty so I compiled a list of all the little niggles I had been living with...

    Regen Braking

I've had my MX into Tesla for them to check it out because it was ridiculously poor regen, they have said that 15 degrees C is 'cold' as far as the battery is concerned so would be restricting regen and my car is functioning normally - pretty sure it used to be around freezing before it would...

Flat tyre (am I missing something?)

I had a flat tyre last Christmas, it took 7 days for anyone close enough for me to get to to have one in stock - I know that was due to the holiday closure but it was lucky we had an alternative car to run. I did try the Tesla callout number, I was on hold for 2 hours (yes, that is not a typo!)...

Last few miles per hour do not regen so well

Yes I used to use the cruise control all the time in my previous car for that but I have found the Model X system to be a little skittish and it often braked for hazards AFTER I had past them, I have pretty much given up using it which is a shame as it was one of the things I was expecting to be...

Last few miles per hour do not regen so well

50% plus on the battery (it's never been below 20%), temperature was fine (I'm aware that low battery temp restricts regen, the dash has yellow warning lines when that is the case). This is every day use, after journeys, charged battery etc so I think it is a decision the programming is making...

Last few miles per hour do not regen so well

Don't know if anything has changed but I am recently aware that the car (X) does not stop from low speed as well as it did. I did a test today and if you let the car full slow down under regen (with it set to max) it gets very close to stopped then the last little bit seems to relax the braking...

    Dashcam recordings to SSD

This may well have been covered in the past but has anyone tried using an SSD drive as a dashcam save location (instead of a memory stick) - not sure what technical challenges it might present but was figuring on a 250Gb SSD for low power requirements and not having the spinning disk of a normal...

    Octopus

A little off topic, but I just moved to Symbio, really competitive standard rate, environmentally based ethos and either no exit fee, or lock your prices in for a period for price surety and a small exit charge - no brainer for my usage profile even without an off-peak cheap period and well...

    Speed assist with cruise control

Dunno if it the same on the M3 as the MX but on mine, if I press the lever (which originally controls Cruise/autodrive) you can control the speed it is set to. A partial press down reduces cruise speed by 1mph, or a press all the way down by 5mph - so press down twice would reduce the set speed...

    Used 2019 Model X 100D vs. Used 2019 Model X Standard Range?

In the UK you can only (seem to) buy a new Tesla by putting it in the basket on their website and then checking out. Bad from a customer/seller perspective in trying to work out the details of what you are getting unless you go along to one of the few showrooms they still have, but good in so...

Less than 2 weeks old and going off road

Not quite how the title makes it sound - brand new Model X, going along a country road from the supermarket back home, a tractor coming the other way decides that he needs more than half the road despite having room to spare on his side, leaving me a choice of a rather large tractor wheel or a...

    Used 2019 Model X 100D vs. Used 2019 Model X Standard Range?

I get what you mean about not wanting to spend effort fighting that battle with everything else that is going on - I am curious tho', does the US have similar distance selling rules and credit card terms. Here in the UK you have 7 days from any online transaction to back out, no reason...

    Used 2019 Model X 100D vs. Used 2019 Model X Standard Range?

How did you lose your deposit? In the UK distance selling rules would have made that completely refundable, and if you paid by Credit Card you could just go to your card provider if Tesla would not play ball and insist on a refund - do you not have similar rules in the US? It was not as...

    How many cancellations?

If you had a car order in that qualifies for the full grant as was and would not now, then postponing instead of cancelling has to be worth it if you think you might come back later - tho' I think there is a 9 month limit between being registered for the grant and getting the car - the gov might...

    Collecting from Southampton

I thought I would share this as I picked up from Southampton today and as the friendly and helpful guy there explained, they are not set up to do it so the signage is poor and the process is not fine tuned. I was just happy to get my car, it is awesome and I'm so glad I stuck with it thru all...

Hello! New & advice needed ☺️

BTW - if your company will only pay you 4p per mile (which they are entitled to) and you are providing the car yourself then you can claim tax relief on the difference (£0.41 pm) - obviously only if you are doing the miles that make it worth the 'paperwork', but I would have a word with your...
  21. X

Hello! New & advice needed ☺️

4p is the rate they should be applying if they provide the car - it is the equivalent of paying fuel for a car they provide and is in the same scheme as would pay out 12-20p for an ICE depending on engine size. As far as I could work out the guidance for a car you provide yourself is the 45p...

    Model X vs Trackers

I have looked at various articles on this now and it would appear that they use GPS blockers to stop the built in tracker - am I searching for the wrong articles or is this what you were referring to?

    Model X vs Trackers

I thought the Tesla one was better as I was unaware of those restrictions and was under the impression that it was an 'always on' feature that did not require additional fitting or subscriptions. I have not had to fit a tracker to any of my previous cars so am not as familiar with their...

    Model X vs Trackers

Thank you - took nearly an hour and a half to get thru with the obvious pressures and staff shortages at the moment. She had to refer to the underwriters about the value as over £100k but made the tracker decision unaided - so well worth a second call once their staffing levels have recovered...

    Model X vs Trackers

I remember seeing a post about this recently but now I can't find it - I spoke to my insurance (Directline) on Friday to switch on the cover for the impending Model X arrival (Yay!) and they brought up the subject of trackers. They had not asked when I first got the quote, but I seem to...

Just had the Text, well technically - they sent it to the office phone so it came out as one of those robot voices, it was from Heathrow and I had specified a Bristol pickup so that was a little weird as well. I spoke to them, they pinged my car and it is in Southampton still so they are trying...

    Summer Tyres

Maybe it is more to do with the amount of chocolate in the driver than ice on the road  I just switched mine back to summers and then woke up to frost. Bearing in mind the FSD is only software as all the hardware (should) be in place anyway (unless you're buying a 3 in the Chinese market :p) I wonder why Tesla aren't just making it the same option you can buy on order or at anytime afterwards - unless there is more to it than that, have never...

I didn't go for the 22's as the feedback was they reduce range and make the ride quite hard, I'm sure people who have them will (hopefully) comment - I wanted black wheels but looking at the Tesla options I decided to get the std silver wheels and then have them sprayed after market as it gave...

Transport is on the list of key workers so I would say service centres need to stay open, but more a grey area with regard to sales, for example, I work in a profession that is classed as critical and need a vehicle to carry out my job - I'm borrowing a car until mine arrives so if for any...

    Tesla Part-Exchange

From what I understood WBAC is often the basis of part exchange offers from Tesla, only often "less than" as Tesla only sell them straight on and know what happens to any WBAC quote once you are actually doing the deal. No one will be going to auctions or going out shopping for cars unless they...

6th of April is the personal tax deadline, Corp tax will depend on Company end of year but the advice stays the same.
