Sentry missed a parking lot accident

I knew which coworker car was parked across, and asked her next day. She told me that she inspected my bumper, didn't find any damage and went home.

    Rejected MY

When I rejected the car in Fremont due to cracked roof glass and replaced front bumper cover (mismatched color) cause dude hit the car when getting off the trailer, I was offered another car 2 days later.

    First time Car buyer

First accident for the first car is matter of months. Then, you’ll be waiting for parts for many more months, high cost insurance will go even higher, and you’ll end up driving a rental. Go with a 2012 corolla or something instead:)

Thanks for the reply, and good to know it's not going to rust inside in a year.

Vendor Suma Blind Spot Side Mirrors

I bought SUMA last year and yea, it's better than OEM. But guys, come on, that quality mirror glass costs $10-15 a pair on aliexpress for other cars (MK7 Golf, mazda 6 is what i experienced first hand). Exactly same quality (and likely same factory as SUMA) for Tesla 3/Y goes for 25-30 a piece...

Sentry missed a parking lot accident

Same here. Was charging at work and the car backing out of a charger in front of mine scratched PPF on front bumper. Nothing is recorded. No surprise.

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Lol I wish I saw that 290 miles at least once on MYLR. 280 top from day one, "in spec"

    New model y range issues

Oh nice, had no idea. Hope for a class action soon.

    New model y range issues

I dont really know how EPA estimates, but i assume they charge a car and drive it. What’s there to report or not to report?
  15. A

    New model y range issues

That would’ve been a fine explanation, except i never got more that 280 miles shown on MYLR. Perhaps different EPA estimated my 4 yo e-golf at 125 range, and i drove 140 miles multiple times, same weather, same driving style, same no AC when i compare. Degradation is 6% in 4 years too. Costed...

Driving in HOV lane without sticker

You cannot sewap stickers - they are numbered and assigned to your VIN. I mean you surely can, but forgery is much costlier violation than driving in carpool lane that you shouldn't be driving in. I worked with a smart person who used 2 stickers on one car, and 2 on an ICE car. Having less...

    PPF interfering with Radar Signal

All of them. Easy to damage paint/film. Your PPF installer would do it for free.
  18. A

    PPF interfering with Radar Signal

Confirm that issue starts showing up later. Had XPEL stealth installed in July. One side of front bumper started showing an obstruction maybe in Oct. Cut out the film on sensors, works ok since then

    HomeLink DIY install

We pay $70-100 for a module. I paid $55 for activation. Kinda obvious why we do that, right?:)

Pics of white Y with and without Gemini covers

Maybe just wrap it in matte 3m?

Is anyone using Tesla’s Model Y Trunk Storage Bins?

Nicer design on aliexpress dropped to 25-37, depending on configuration. Will wait till it drops to $14, cause it can't cost more than that.

Just create a service request because owners manual on 2021.24.10 doesn’t work, blank screen on anything you select. am i alone?

Blacking out emblems makes a huge difference 😍

Not to ruin the fun(ordered etsy caps myself), but those spoilers are 50 on aliexpress any day.
  24. A

Would you still buy a Model Y now if you could do it again?

Only if they sell it for USD 25K. It's a featureless, poorest quality gadget.

    Alternative to HomeLink module

I've seen a post on this forum describing someone took off the module off Model X and installed on Y. AFAIK case and mount are different, but one can just zip-tie it to something. Honestly, used homelink off model 3 was not that more expensive that one from Model X, so I just got 3.

    Rear Footwell Lights.

A bit confused why $35 for lights? Isn't it $12.99 for 4 pack ? https://www.amazon.com/YSY-Universal-Daytime-Running-Waterproof/dp/B0829YRPMF/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=ysy%2Bdaytime%2Brunning&qid=1607823400&sr=8-2&th=1&tag=tmc064-20 Still huge markup:) those lights cost cents on aliexpress.
  27. A

    Rear Footwell Lights.

BTW, i shorted one light for a moment while manually testing if everything works before final installation. It tripped the "fuse" on that circuit, which doesn't exist:) 5 mins later computer re-enabled the circuit automatically.
  28. A

    Rear Footwell Lights.

While splicing was an option, I decided to spend a bit extra and ordered connectors from the post you qouted. Total cost of everything was 24 dollars, where 7 was the cost of shipping connectors (ordered a lot of extras), and $1.20 for a pair of blue lights. Same connectors from aliexpress are...

    Alternative to HomeLink module

No idea, likely will charge more. But installation is 10 minute thing, super easy. Activation is something they claim only in-person tech visit can accomplish.

    Alternative to HomeLink module

And if money is a factor - get used homelink module and a bracket off Ebay. I paid around 70, and 45 or so for activation by tesla tech.

Am I The Only One - Love My Car - Hates Tesla?

I am with you:) Car is overpriced a lot, and we pay big money for software updates that push new games and TikTok. My 6 y.o. mazda had rear cross-traffic avoidance, and this 55K car promises it to people that paid extra 10K to maybe have that feature, sometime. Gaps, rattles, bugs in...

    Front Parking Sensor Not Working?

Same story. XPEL stealth, worked fine at first, 2-3 months later front middle sensors stopped working, no error, no warnings. Today, cut off parking sensors and everything is back to normal.

Homelink won't learn my gate code

Well, I (and anyone who pre-ordered MY before launch) was personally promised that the car I am pre-ordering will come with Homelink. So they did their job of informing, then braking the promise:) Learned my lesson.

    Homelink installation fail

Ebay is the source. Had setup an alert when new items appear under "Tesla Homelink" query string. I saw someone activated a module from Model X, but not sure how to mount it. So I filter out only model 3/Y modules. Quite important to get the bracket, bolt is not that big of a deal, mine didn't...

Vendor in Bay Area, CA ?!?

You have to return even if you pay $10K, film dries, settles, etc. Chosing between paying $5200 and keeping the car 2 extra days over $8400+ for the same service with unknown result, I chose the first one. 10 year warranty is 10 year warranty regardless.
  38. A

Vendor in Bay Area, CA ?!?

I did XPel stealth and window tinitng at Mum Sport, and overall - i am pretty happy, ESPECIALLY considering the price. I had to go back to fix left overs after two weeks.

Square light on the front door side

I realized I've never seen it on. Tried last night thinking it might be tied to the automatic headlights.. It also rattles. Haven't looked at the manual yet..

    Model Y foot/kick sensor.

Awesome. One part is a bit confusing - in the video he says app needs to be open. Does it mean if I am within bluetooth range anyone can open it? What's with app open in general.. Is there a special state of authorization for the car if app is open and screen is locked?

Performance 21 Nail in Tire only 100 miles

Next morning, and 15 miles after taking delivery of MY AWD LR I found flat rear right tire (19"). Contacted roadside assistance and was quoted $280 for mobile service to come and replace it, or $70 if fixable. Told them it is ridiculous, as very low chance of me catching a nail in only 15...
