    V11 questions

Has anyone found how to display the odometer and efficiency numbers that used to be accessed (along with TPMS) by swiping on the bottom left? I am one of those weirdos that loves to track wH/mile on all my trips.

    Tesla app vs Utility meter

We had a great crew from Dominion Net Metering come out and test. First time they've tried to test a customer's production via a bidirectional meter. It was kind of cool to see that at least as they tested things the Tesla app agreed with what their testing equipment was pulling almost...

    Tesla app vs Utility meter

Same issue here in Virginia with Dominion electric. Weirdly, I found that for several months they were really close to each other (I expect there to be some variance based on interval), but over the past five months the variance has grown to hundreds of kWh in some months. I'm having the utility...

    Powerwall/TEG disappearance from Tesla app?

Anyone ever experienced a sudden removal of your powerwall from your Tesla app? Just happened to me for the first time today for no reason I can understand.

Wh/mile (lifetime or other interval) as a measure of drivetrain condition?

Trying to delete this partial post. Embarrassing.

Does EV efficiency (as measured in wh/mi) degrade over life of EV?

Looking for feedback on the hypothesis that current and historical wh/mile data (if, to the degree possible, controlling for other variables) could be an indicator of overall drive-train health for EVs. All other factors being equal, will wh/mile stay generally constant over a vehicle’s life? Or...

Anyone Cracked Open the Phone Tray?

I was equally baffled. It’s actually really easy to separate. Look at 2:00 in this video:

My Model S: I've had it!

@ohmman -I am a bit late to this thread. Love your post. I just realized that my "Screw you, Model 3" post was just a ripoff on your post from 2017!

Tesla production numbers doesn't match PG&E...

Does your Tesla app have the To/From Grid icon (looks like a power line)? That's what I use when it comes to understanding whether I am a net producer or consumer and all the other stuff (usage, solar production) then isn't part of the equation.

Tesla production numbers doesn't match PG&E...

Thanks, @BrettS and @wjgjr. It was very interesting to me that when I called Dominion, after about 15 minutes of back and forth, they offered to replace our meter with one which provides more insight. It was like they had a flowchart that said "if customer clearly realizes that we can't...

Tesla production numbers doesn't match PG&E...

I'm with you. I have had a very similar system installed, about 8 kW. We are on the east coast, and actually have a slightly different situation with our utility in that they weren't showing us how much we were putting into the grid on our bill. They just showed us as net consumers, vice net...

    Fernand Great summary!

Comparing solar quotes and wondering about installation experience

I has a similar dilemma, although mine was with similar price quotes. I went with the local installer because they worked with me more closely on overall system design and because I wanted to support a local business (I’ve supported Tesla plenty). I was very pleased. They key thing I found is...

    Screw you, Model 3

Yup. Also reduces demand to despoil our own land and waters through rampant drilling or fracking in the US. Ever drive through the Permian Basin in Texas? It’s not a pretty site.

    Screw you, Model 3

It was going to be about $40 for the tire rotation (I don't know what it would have been for the alignment). The problem I ran into is that our local Tesla service center made me schedule two weeks out and then wanted me to leave the car for 72 hours for what should have taken just a few hours...

    That's hot. Same color.

    Screw you, Model 3

I overpaid for a tire rotation and alignment. So really should be much lower. :-)

    Screw you, Model 3

Haha. Tire rotation and alignment at a non Tesla service station because our local Tesla dealership made us schedule our service two weeks out and then said we would need to leave the car for 72 hours for A TIRE ROTATION. It's the only thing I've been disappointed in thus far!

    Screw you, Model 3

I’m a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. I’ve tried to embrace stoicism, because I’ve seen that there is so much that is beyond an individual’s control. I know that one of the dumbest things anyone can do is fall in love with a piece of metal. And yet, here I am. In love with a car. Buying...

Do you get a dummys book to your solar/PWs?

Did you have Tesla or a third party installer? I had a third party install our solar and a power wall. I had a similar question, and the answer in my case has been "no". There's just so much variation between panels, inverters, and possible power wall configurations that you are really...

How long does it take for the PW to show up in the app?

We had a third party install ours, and I went to the Tesla site and chose the manual addition option. I entered the info from my Tesla gateway and the PW showed in my app 10 minutes later (pre-inspection).

How often do you experience phantom braking

Had about three incidents of hard phantom braking in 3600 miles of road tripping from VA to TX which took me from about 75 to 40 very quickly. Aside from the unpleasant experience, my main concern was that it would have been extraordinarily easy for it to have resulted in being rear-ended by...

New Model 3 LR Buying, Waiting, and Road Trip Experience

As I was considering buying a Tesla, I appreciated the folks who took the time to relate their experiences. So, here is my Model 3 LR buying, waiting, and first road trip experience: -The buying process was great. We went in for a test drive at the Tyson's Corner Tesla dealership and they let...
