Is it illegal to speed to the speed limit from the traffic lights when the signal turns green?

Slightly off topic, but a friend of mine was given a ticket (careless driving?) because someone was running a red light, he was turning right at the intersection, and he failed to give way to this red-light person. This resulted in an accident. I don’t know all the details, but if you go off...

    Aussie queues this long weekend

We drove back from GC to Melbourne over the last two days. Nuts. Having a LR vehicle helps, due to the ability to dodge a congested charger. We were waiting at Cassegrain for a while, but while we were waiting, 9 cars showed up! Don’t rely on Maclean, apparently the power supplies get too...

    Model 3 Highland live now

Still chin scratching. Maybe it is a bad habit, but when doing a three point turn, I generally have my hands on the steering wheel at all times.

    Model 3 Highland live now

I’m contemplating upgrading from a 4-year M3LR coming out of lease, I don’t really mind the stalkless indicators, but scratching my chin at trying to do a 3-point turn with a screen change of gears….

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity in Victoria?

James - is this really what it means? I thought that with this symbol, it means that you are actually charged to put power into the grid. It is only when the FIT is high that you can make money from putting money into the grid. Overall, I thought that Amber adds up all the power export at...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity in Victoria?

Hi all, I hear about opportunities for good savings using Amber and high feed in payments at certain times in NSW, for example. I am currently with another provider, with a reasonable plan, with a couple of PW2s, and a 3 phase system. I did try Amber for a little while over summer, but just...

    Tesla Model Y-LR in Australia

Talked with Tesla about changing our SR to LR yesterday, told it would be up to 5 business days. Went in this morning - it can now be changed as an “edit” of the current order. :) Delivery time - TBD….

Does using supercharger actually save money for a road trip compared to petrol?

Thinking about it - I think that networks are eyeing off the much more profitable opportunities of getting people who live in high-rises and units (with no solar and ability to charge at home) to charge regularly from a supercharger, than the hoteling theory outcomes of highway driving. Tesla...

[Autopilot disabled due to] System Failure

I’ve just had this on the non-FSD most recent update of firmware. I was able to get the cruise control working, but have tried removing USB storage, hard resetting and sleeping. Did you get any joy or improvement?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

With the new software, I thought I’d check out the battery health with Service Mode. I can get to the code entry, but it then does nothing. Is this geolocked for near the service centre?

Thanks. Interesting regarding the standard approval. Good info.

What is the state of play in Oz with V2G?

Hi Tesla brains trust, I’ve read about 2025 as a year where more EVs will be using V2G than just the Leaf etc. I can’t see anywhere whether or not this is legally mandated, expected or just a pipe dream. Can anyone help lay out exactly what the state of play is for this facility in a...

Anyone used the Cobram VIC RACV Chargefox Supercharger recently?

I'm going up to Cobram soon from Melbourne. Trying to work out whether or not to supercharge at Euroa, or aim for Cobram directly. Thanks

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Had a bit of excitement after reading about 2020.44, and then getting an update.... but for 2020.40.8. I think that there is a large raft coming through now for bug fixes.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Finally got 2020.40.4 today. From a short drive around Sydney Road: It is very good at recognizing standard speed limit symbols (white background + black numbers + red circle). Doesn't pick up variable speed signs. Does pick up roadwork signs that conform to the standard speed symbols...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Finally went out for a drive on 36.3 on the Tullamarine Freeway (testing my boy for COVID!). Found that the cruise control seemed to change the speed limits by itself for no apparent reason - possibly under overpasses - but a few times the phantom braking appeared and was associated with a...

Lost power for 5mins today (just now) - PowerWall2 keeps us up....

A number of locations in the NE of Melbourne (Yarra Valley I believe) spent the weekend without power. It definitely can happen, so am feeling good about the decision to invest in one. If only to keep the fridges and some basic lighting going.

Advice on Powerwall for new build?

Actually, good news on this: just checked and both the ground and first floor externals are actually Hebel. Really enjoying reading the stories from people on this.

Advice on Powerwall for new build?

Thanks for the detailed explanation. It is a larger volume builder hence the difference in cost vs. specialist design - with the benefit of having some cash to spend on additionals. We have also specified the ground floor with Hebel, but not the flooring, no option on that :( Will PM...

Advice on Powerwall for new build?

Dear Tesla Brains trust, I’m building a house at the moment, looking to stuff as many solar panels as I can on to it. Expecting 10-12 kW size. The house will be large (5 bed), double storey, but I have also similarly stuffed as much insulation, double glazing, passive heating/cooling as I can...

Moonee Ponds Supercharger is not available

FYI - Drove to the supercharger today for a charge, and the whole of the second level is closed for what I briefly saw as "staff parking". With the 5 km limits in Melbourne, this now effectively preventing me from using my "free" credits to charge up. Not very satisfactory, I'm in a rental...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yes, I've had 6% loss in about 23 hours, it is on Sentry mode, but all other consumption that I can think of is off. Does anyone have any perspective of whether this is normal? Or how to dig into the internals to look at power trend graphs?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Good news with the latest update is that for some reason the greyed out "USB Format" is now not greyed out. Not sure what happened there. While I do understand that sentry mode has a decent battery drain, I drained 7% of my battery overnight (LR), so I am going to watch this more carefully...

One thing I’ve noticed for my .13 update is that sentry mode is now up and running, but giving me a grey screen as the 10+ min recording rather than the actual footage. Has anyone else seen this? Sentry mode

Hold down the camera button until there is a little flash. This will stop the camera, and you can remove the USB safely. Pressing the camera once I think records the last 10 mins as a saved file. I’ve not tried the music partitioning, I am just using my phone.

Wailing wall for Australian Model 3 team VINLess!

SMS from Tesla re delivery and the virus

Interesting, the word from the PM is that it’s just social gatherings as non-essential. The ABC suggests that Victoria was pushing harder for truly essential, but has been overruled. So deliveries could still be on, but who knows when the Victorian government will lose patience? Fingers crossed.

SMS from Tesla re delivery and the virus

Great photo, quite eerie. Looks like a lot of extra isolation measures about to hit. Victoria is about to go into an early school holidays on Tuesday (and my kids may feel a bit unwell tomorrow too), and all non-essential businesses to shut in 48 hours.
