I received my MY several months ago. At the time I could not do a close examination. I have done so now and I have a large gap between the trunk lid and rear quarter panel. Will Tesla fix this or will they say that too much time has elapsed?
Picked up my red Y in Vallejo this past Monday (May 31). Order was placed May 17. Didn’t have much time to look it over, but it seemed perfect. Next day found a small scratch on the front bumper. Tesla says they'll fix it for free. First impressions:
1. It accelerates like a bat out of hell. Not...
I changed my order from RWD to AWD on May 17. Not much happened for awhile. But this evening a VIN showed up: 197xxx, EDD May 28-31. I can't believe how quickly this is happening!
Red with white interior, 19" wheels, 5 seat, FSD.
Sonoma County
That text message sounds like it came from a misinformed or rogue sales advisor. If there was any truth to it, this thread would be overwhelmed with "me too" responses, mine included. I have not received any such communication from Tesla.
In addition to my longstanding RWD preorder, I ordered an AWD a few days ago, just before the latest FSD price increase. It's a contingency in case Tesla decides not to produce the MY RWD. Yesterday a Tesla SA from Walnut Creek called me to let me know that my AWD order probably won't be filled...
MY isn't being delivered internationally, just USA and Canada. Tesla traditionally does the bulk of end of quarter deliveries in California so as to maximize their EOQ numbers. That's why they quoted March to the OP. But that may change when the new Fremont assembly line (GA4.5) goes into full...
One possibility: Tesla is shutting down some of their AWD production in order to start producing the RWD. This timeframe would jibe with when Musk stated "several months" for the start of RWD production.
It was on the order page from March 14 2019 to January 29 2020. I expect ordering to be reopened in a month or two. Range is currently unknown but my guess is about 330 miles.
The heat pump is one aspect that worries me. Will Tesla figure out a way to make it work with a rear motor or will they regress to the less efficient Model 3 solution? I don't think they will make it FWD. I for one won't buy a FWD car.
It will be interesting to see what price adjustment Tesla will make for existing LR RWD orders. I may place a new order to get the 1000 free supercharger miles.
Elon Musk confirmed today that the LR RWD will be available in a few months:
"We have reduced pricing on Model Y LR dual motor & will offer a LR single motor Y in a few months, which improves affordability, while still keeping the product excellent."
I like what he tweeted today:
"We have reduced pricing on Model Y LR dual motor & will offer a LR single motor Y in a few months, which improves affordability, while still keeping the product excellent."
Ordered Jan 27, 2020.
LR RWD, red/white, 19", FSD. All requested documents submitted. I was going to do a trade-in but based on recent lowball offers from Tesla I'll try my luck with CarMax. Hoping for a September delivery.
I see you're in Marin county. Have you asked Tesla if they allow pickup at the Corte Madera showroom or the San Rafael service center? I'm in Sonoma county and would prefer to avoid the Golden Gate Bridge.
I don't recall seeing an estimated delivery date. I ordered a RWD on 1/27/2020. That choice was on Tesla's pre-order menu a long time, from 3/14/2019 to 1/29/2020. If Tesla decides that RWD will not be produced they will have to come up with a good explanation as to why it was on their...
If it's any reason for hope, Musk has not responded with, "Sorry, we won't be making a LR-RWD." Still, it's unconscionable that we've been left twisting in the wind for so long already.
I too am concerned about 19" wheels having a stiff ride. Currently driving a BMW i3 which makes every pothole and asphalt strip known to the seat of my pants. ☹️
Why would Tesla go to the bother of quoting me a trade-in value that expires in 30 days? That required them looking at the photos I submitted, a somewhat labor intensive task for Tesla employees who are already snowed under with work.
That's normal. It includes a $1125 delivery fee and a $75 document fee.
QUOTE="vjcinajr, post: 4586378, member: 119676"]On 10/14/2019 I pre-ordered a Model Y, submitted my $2500 pre-order fee, and was quoted a price of $58,750. Up until today my online account - Manage section had a “Next...
I also received a trade-in offer less than 24 hours after completing the requested info on my account page. I don't know why they bothered because the RWD model I ordered isn't even being produced yet, if ever. Anyway, the offer was $3000 less than I expected. I'll make a trip to Carmax once the...
My RWD config is the same as yours. I ordered 1/27/20 and am thinking about making a color change. However, the price went up by $990 on 1/29/20, so if you make changes now you get hit with the price increase.
They gave me a choice of two delivery centers, neither of which was very convenient for me. I know there are service centers closer to me. I don't think all service centers are also delivery centers. Was anyone else assigned a delivery center farther away than the nearest service center?
For me also the site wants all the details, including trade-in, drivers license and preferred delivery center. RWD, 19" wheels, red with white interior, FSD.
Seems like Tesla could argue that they fall under the exception of "auto-supply, auto-repair, and related facilities." If your car is not repairable, or has reached end-of-lease, or been contracted to sell to someone else, you have few alternatives to obtaining a new car.
