    Looking to Purchase 2016 Model X P90D

BTW, just checked the 057 Technology plan and they don't cover my battery: "Sorry, but during our initial rollout, we're not offering battery service plans for vehicles with 40, 60 or 100 kWh battery packs. Please keep an eye on our website and social media feeds for more information once this...

    Looking to Purchase 2016 Model X P90D

Thanks @EbS-P. Hadn't thought about the P model and seats, but I too have a 2016 MX P100D, and mine is also a 6-seater. I keep my rear seats folded down for more cargo space in the rear. I had the MX shudder problem at about 90K miles but got all parts replaced under warranty and it fixed the...

    2019 & 2020 Model X range?

The energy wheel in that photo is displaying some pretty unusual stats. 659Wh/mi? Was the car driven straight up a steep mountain and then stopped at the top to take this screen shot? My avg (which includes sometimes towing my boat) is 306Wh/mi (over the last 15K miles). Ok, yes I drive like...

    Model X won’t turn off

First thing I would try is rebooting the car. There are several different ways to do this - see the sticky thread on the Model X page of this forum. I would try the full reboot. If that doesn't work, I would try and see if you can turn the car off with the phone app and then lock the car with...

Looking at used Model X’s, looking for opinions / advice

This is my first post in about 2 years. I have come to determine that for me, a Tesla MX is the only car I will ever own going forward (unless something changes drastically in the future). I like mine that much. I have an Oct 2016 MX P100DL with Enhanced Autopilot which I use very frequently...

    2017 X p100d - avg 430 kwh/mi

No way I'm using that much energy in my Oct 2016 MX P100D. For a 5000 lb car, it's getting great "milage." Rated new to go 289 mi on a full charge, and even today I can still do about 260ish (although I will never do a 100-0 battery usage event!!). I drive about 17 mi one way to work, so...

Voice command fail for phone call/message

I still have MCU1. Internet and map refresh very, very slow. Rebooting will fix the problem, yes, but not willing to stop driving to spend 5 minutes rebooting just to get the microphone to work. For texting and making calls, I still have "Hey Siri" available all the time, regardless of the...

New Model X - Did they fix the shudder problem?

I don't think too much about the suspension. It now defaults to Standard for driving under 50mph. I have it set (or the default software now has it set) to go into Low above 50mph, and I have verified that this is the case, and it seems reasonable to me. I also have not seen the tire wear...

New Model X - Did they fix the shudder problem?

So far (fingers still crossed), I don't have the issue in my P100. I drive in Ludicrous always and accelerate (pedal to the floor) whenever I feel like it, which is honestly not very often - just when some jackleg thinks he owns the road. What I found is that a) I don't have the dreaded...

bike hitch advice please for X

I don't have a picture handy right now, but I have @ngng's Kuat rack. Exactly like that, and I love it. It's a little pricey, but it has built in bike locks, is expandable to 4 bikes if you ever need to do that, and has a built-in maintenance rack to hold your bike so you can work on it...

Voice command fail for phone call/message

Something is up with my voice commands lately as well. After initially working, about the second or third time I try to use a voice command, my driver's panel responds with "Microphone temporarily unavailable" and at that point, I get that every attempt until I end the trip and start a new...

Problems with with summon feature on model x

Just a thought...have you tried parking it both facing in and facing out? Was thinking it might summon in one direction but not the other. I seldom use my summon feature to park, but when I do, I love it. Haven't noticed that it has stopped working. Will try in when I get back out to the...

Blog Tesla Sales Drop in China

This is from an article on the home page of Tesla Motors Club. "Sales of Tesla vehicles in China plunged 69 percent in July, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). According to the report Tesla sold 32,968 vehicles in China last month, compared to 28,138 in June. Tesla...

Best way to keep heat from coming through the sunroof?

The Tesla sun shade made for the X is not complete sun block. It's like a net. Millions of little holes, so I can't block the sun completely. The cardboard blocks 100% of the sun coming through the roof, and it's saving me energy on my battery. And because of the tinting of the roof glass...

Best way to keep heat from coming through the sunroof?

So far, so good. Have not lost any appreciable % of battery since I installed the cardboard above the Tesla sun shade. It's in the parking lot again today with all day full sun, so today will be a good test. The Tesla sun shade by itself simply isn't sufficient.

I just installed the cardboard cutout last night. Am parked out in the sun today at work. Will monitor it for a while and report back.

Charging Heats the inside of the Car?

My X is always hotter inside the car than the temp in my garage - plugged in and charging or not. But maybe even hotter when plugged in and charging. I think it's normal.

Best way to keep heat from coming through the sunroof?

I find the Tesla brand sun shade for the two folks up front insufficient. When I park my car in the parking lot at work here in Northern Virginia, I am losing 4-5% battery power during the day for cooling. I know some of that is for cooing the battery, but some is for cooling the cabin. I...

    Towing range expectAtion?

The key metric for your towing is the Wh/mi. If you can keep that number as low as possible while you are driving, you will be able to go further on a charge. Things that will kill your mileage are: jack rabbit starts, quick stops, going fast, hills (obviously the uphill part) along your route...

Tesla Service App, what a ROYAL F'ING PAIN IN MY ASH!

Theoretically you schedule the appointment using the app, and from there, it's all back and forth with the SC inside the app. That's how I do it.

Tesla Service App, what a ROYAL F'ING PAIN IN MY ASH!

I feel your pain. Seems to me there are apps that allow data to transfer better than others, and the Tesla app is on the bad end of this comparison. Texting for example seems to allow data transfer as quickly as the signal connection allows, but some apps, like the Tesla app, give you the...

Model X New Rear Tires Need Replacement After Only 7,000 Miles

The concept of getting an alignment done when new tires are installed is not a bad one. Let's say in your example above, there was trauma to the car that caused an alignment issue, and this trauma occurred right before the tires were changed. User got 30K miles on the old set of tires and...

Model X New Rear Tires Need Replacement After Only 7,000 Miles

I bought my MX with 47K on it, and I am still using that same set of tires that came with it and am now at 62K (I have put 15K on these tires so far). Tires do not show excessive wear. I've towed my boat with my MX using these tires probably about 300-400 miles so far. Just a data point.
  29. R

Model X New Rear Tires Need Replacement After Only 7,000 Miles

I guess it is possible (not saying this is the case) that when you got your new tires, you did not need an alignment (you got 30K miles off the original set). But a few days after receiving the new tires, something happened to throw the alignment off, and from that moment until now (7000...

    Model X AC is Loud!

I'm sorry I'm hearing about so many extra loud (unacceptably loud) AC's in MX's. Mine is not loud at all. Honesty I've never even heard it, other than the air flowing across my face. I can't hear the fan at all. zero.
  34. R

    Waze

Not in my car. With the premium connectivity plan I have, the transfer rate must be tiny. Expressed in Kb rather than Mb? Takes all day for the TeslaWaze screen to come up. Any website really.
  35. R

    Waze

The above situation only works if your car will download and keep current the Tesla Waze map. Where I live and use my Premium Connectivity plan, I can't get the Tesla Waze map to appear and stay current with regularity. And I'm not sure, in my case, I want to use two different mapping screens...

First Time using a Super Charger this weekend, I got some questions....

I find that when I'm on a supercharger, I can watch and see how many % the car predicts I will have when I reach the next programmed supercharger. In my experience, that prediction is generally conservative. For instance, if I wait at the supercharger until it the car predicts I will have 20%...

    Waze

Waze running on your phone (as it was originally designed to do by the developers in Israel) is hands down the best automobile navigation app that has ever been produced. Cars that offer Apple Play make this the go to app for anyone with that capability. The Tesla app is obviously the best for...

    autosteer always "temporarily unavailable"

There are two hard-coded requirements (among others as mentioned above) in order to use autosteer. If you have Trailer Mode, it must be turned off. And you must have your seatbelt securely fastened.

16 mi per day phantom drain, sitting in an airport. 2nd car on the same app the problem?

I have a 2016X, and I've never seen that kind of % drop over time. IMO 16 miles of loss per day is completely unacceptable. 2-3 miles per day is about what I see. My car doesn't even have sentry mode (too old). And I don't have ANY third party apps using my car's data. I park my car in my...

Is A/C motor really this loud?!

I have owned my Oct 2016 MX since Feb 2020, and I have never heard the AC make any noise at all, inside or outside the car, and I am a nut about unusual noises. I ran mine on speed 11 yesterday and today. No noise other than the sound of air hitting my face. If mine were making any kind of...

    Boat Launch

I haven't tried it, but my guess is that in trailer mode, the summon command on the app won't work. It would be great if it did!

    Parking Brake

So sorry to hear this happened to your MX. I have not had a pure "service" on my MX per say - just a few spot repairs. My park break has never displayed any sort of message. Hope the mobile team can fix this for you quickly so you can get back on the road.
  46. R

    Boat Launch

The hard part would be the car knowing when the boat "breaks free" from the trailer so that the car would know to stop backing up and instead pull forward automatically and then stop again once the trailer is out of the water. Maybe you would control how far the car backed up with your phone...

Saris Bike Rack Stuck in Hitch Receiver

Never heard of this, and I use my MX hitch receiver frequently. I have two devices I use with my hitch receiver: a standard trailer hitch receiver and my Thule bike rack. They both fit in my Tesla MX-included hitch receiver with a tiny bit of room to spare, as one would expect. I suspect your...

    Air suspension height?

My car had an air suspension leak that caused the compressor to kick on about every 2 minutes when I would start to drive my car. It was diagnosed to be a leaking compressor, and they replaced the compressor under warranty. No more noise making. Problem solved.
  49. R

    Boat Launch

The key to launching a boat alone is a good boat ramp that isn't too shallow (drops off nicely so you don't have to back the vehicle into the water up to the rear axle) and a looooooong launch rope. Hook the rope to the tongue of the trailer before backing in, then back the boat into the water...

    Model X towing test 2

Glad you had a good journey. In your post, it says you used used xxx Wh/m. Isn't Wh/m a rate? So wouldn't that be like saying I ran a total distance of 20 miles per hour? I think you would express usage in terms of something that is not a rate; ie, just watt hours.
