Bring back the odometer TENTHS digit!!!

My bicycle odometer has hundredths. Although probably few car drivers would actually use the hundredths, considering that the displays are done with software it really would not add to the cost to have hundredths so they might as well display them for the few people who would like it.

Bring back the odometer TENTHS digit!!!

I do. I do a lot of walking and bicycle riding and would like to measure distances in advance. I see no good reason for them to eliminate the tenths. What did they gain by doing so? For more than a century car odometers have had tenths.

How to find tenths of miles traveled?

Right now I want to use my Tesla to measure the mileage for a parade but cannot since it does not show tenths. Removing the ability to measure distance in tents was a very cheap trick. We pay a lot for a car then they do that sort of thing.

How to find tenths of miles traveled?

But it isn't. I have a dump flip phone. We should not be required to have a smart phone to cover for deficiencies in software updates.

How to find tenths of miles traveled?

I am very disturbed that the odometer no longer displays tenths. That means that I can no longer measure distances except with my bicycle. For many decades even the cheapest cars have had odometers which displayed tenths. I cannot imagine why Tesla cheapened the car by deleting tenths...

Where is the odometer on the new 'upgraded' UI?

They work for me, but I have no reason to doubt what you wrote. It should also display what it thinks you said. Have you read that? Does it display what you actually said? Regardless of whether it does, I suggest contacting Tesla.

Where is the odometer on the new 'upgraded' UI?

You have made a good point. However, most functions are also accessible via voice commands. You press the right hand scroll wheel and state the command, such as, "open glove box", "open cubby", "open trunk", "temperature 71 degrees", "odometer", "tire pressure", "fold mirrors" or "close...

Where is the odometer on the new 'upgraded' UI?

Those voice commands work for me. However, I have found that voice commands do not always work. Sometimes it is necessary to try multiple times. Notice what it thinks you said. If it does not display what you actually said, try pronouncing it a bit differently. But if it displays what you...

    GPS doesn't know the way

I've reported this here before but can't find the post or responses. I am using my old Garmin GPS because it works better and it is easier to read. When I entered the address "300 Fir Street San Diego CA", the GPS directed me way out of the way. It actually took me over the Coronado Bay...

    Small Screen Font on UI

I would not consider using the touch screen to report a bug. There should be provision to report bugs on a Tesla website. Using the touch screen to report a bug would be intolerably awkward. It is necessary to watch the screen very closely when using the voice method because one must see...

    Disaster Averted!!

A few times there has been a warning beep at exactly the same time I have applied the brakes myself. That happens when a car changes lanes when too close in front of me and I need to slow down a bit to avoid an accident. I suppose that if I did not apply the brakes myself they would be...

    Model 3 approaches Camry levels

I actually wanted a red one but the only color which didn't cost extra was white so I got white. I'm very thrifty but some people might call it something else.

    Model 3 approaches Camry levels

I thought that the plural of Tesla was Tesli. The plural of radius is radii.

    Model 3 approaches Camry levels

I'd prefer my car to be inconspicuous. I eschew status symbols and don't want my car to be seen as a status symbol.

    Free premium connectivity transferable?

"sorry there is nothing we can do". Really? Is there actually some law of physics that prevents them from doing it? Or is it just that they could do it but have decided not to? I suspect that it is the latter and that they are simply being dishonest. When people say that they cannot do...

I expected my Model X and Tesla service to fail me.

If your time is valuable to you, I suggest hiring an attorney and letting him deal with the problems. But make sure you hire an attorney who is especially good with cases like yours. Also, file a report with the Better Business Bureau. That may induce Tesla to solve the problems to prevent...

Ultimate EV Road Trip - Circumnavigating North America

It would really be nice if Teslas had a built-in compressor for inflating tires. In the olden days some cars did, but that was before 1920. Of course one can plug a compressor into the drug paraphernalia lighter but, because the compressor has no tank doing, that is rather slow.

Touching touch screens while driving no longer allowed in Germany, even for adjusting wiper speed!!

But we know that many drivers will use touch screens in a dangerous manner. It is best to design cars with controls which distract the driver as little as possible. Touch screens do not qualify.

Touching touch screens while driving no longer allowed in Germany, even for adjusting wiper speed!!

This does point out the danger of touch screens. It may be that at some future date either touch screens will be illegalized or they will be required to be disabled while driving. They are dangerous! Check out this link I found with a google search: Touch Screens Are Distracting Drivers. What...

NO! Lasic would not solve the problem. You do not understand the problem, but you are not the only one. Although I've made other posts on this subject, I decided that a more thorough post is needed. So, here it is. For those who do not adequately understand vision, the problem is...

    Small Screen Font on UI

I had no problem before touch screens. The instruments had a larger type size than the touch screens have. For the temperature gauge and the fuel gauge it was not even necessary to read the numbers; one could easily see the position of the needle. The fact that there are numerous complaints...

    Small Screen Font on UI

Coachscot, many us of with the same problem have been complaining for quite some time. It looks as though Tesla has no intention of making it possible to increase the font size. Perhaps if there are a few law suites resulting from crashes caused by drivers struggling to read the screen Tesla...

    M3 Smart Key Ring Unlock

I also would like to learn more about the smart key ring. With my previous car, I had an elastic string with my metal car key on it. When going to the beach I could put the elastic string with the key around my neck before going into the water. The key would not be damaged and it could not be...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

RIGHT! The problem with presbyopia can begin even before 45 years old. An ironic thing about it is that we oder people are more likely to be able to afford a Tesla.

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

But the NAVIGATE command does not always work properly although it is not the fact that it is a voice command that is the problem. "Navigate to 300 Fir Street" was recognized; it displayed properly on the screen, but it took me miles out of the way. "Navigate home" gets me to my neighborhood...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

Yes, that usually works, but it requires spending considerable time studying and memorizing many commands. Probably the real reason for that system is that it costs less than having hand controls with their associated wiring.

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

From all the questions on this site it is inescapably clear that it is not only we seniors who find the excessive elecronification and computerization difficult to use. Even when you do know the voice command the system does not always respond. For example, it has trouble with the "f" sound...

Every morning i got error about my pressure

Oh! You mean tire pressure. I was expecting to see something like 120 : 60. The last time it was 105 : 55, but it wasn't the car that told me.

    Lost Saved Locations

I haven't had a problem with lost addresses. My problem is that it cannot take me to addresses that my Garmin GPS had no trouble with. Recently it took me miles out of the way and got me lost. The result is that I am now using my Garmin GPS.

GPS problems have me using my Garmin GPS.

The Tesla model 3 GPS cannot take me home. Even if I activate it when I am only a couple blocks from my house it directs me way out of the way. However, the three year old Garmin GPS I used with my previous car can take me home. On the way to a medical appointment the GPS took me across a...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

A car need not be designed specially for us seniors. Rather, it should be designed so that one need not spend hours studying to do even the simplest of things. Although it is easy to press the end of the turn signal to operate the washers, it is excessively time consuming to find that out...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

I exceedingly strongly disagree! After reading your post, I reviewed the manual which I had to have printed out because Tesla does not provide a written manual. The index has no reference to voice commands. Surely it would help to have a list of such commands in one place. In looking under...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

Why would one want to change the A/C temp while driving? Perhaps the miles left is decreasing too fast and one wants to turn off the A/C to make it possible to reach one's destination. Perhaps one the sun has come out making it feel hotter. Perhaps a passenger is complaining that it is too cold...

Weathertech vs Tesla. Who has compared Model 3 cargo mats?

I want TWO rear trunk mats. One for when the rear seat is not folded forward, and the other to cover the rear seat back when it is folded forward. That's so I can put my bicycle in the trunk without causing damage. However, I am unable one designed to cover the seat back. Am I the only one...

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

    Car Wash Mode - Instructions!

But we have been told that all the controls are logically arranged. If that were true, why would any of us have trouble going into "Park"? It doesn't seem to be a problem with other cars.

    Car Wash Mode - Instructions!

"Has anyone tried tweeting at Elon for a "car wash mode"..." Do Elon or Tesla ever respond to requests? Many owners, including me, have requested a larger type size for some touch screen items because we cannot read them while wearing our distance glasses. There has been no response.

Model 3 not recommended and also highest owner satisfaction from Consumer Reports

"...but on the model 3 you know where they are and they are logically arranged..." Logically arranged, perhaps, but not designed to be operated without taking one's eyes off of the road. In my previous car, a 2004 Mazda 3, I could set the cabin temperature and fan speed without taking my eyes...

    Small Screen Font on UI

Exactly right! I can't quite read the small type for time, navigation items, and other items. If I wore glasses specially made for that distance I could, but that would not be practical. It should not be necessary for us with presbyopia to have special bifocals just to drive our Teslas. What...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

The upgrade many of us would like would be to increase the type size of some of the items on the screen. There are some items that I cannot quite read with my distance glasses. I cannot read the street names from the navigation system, the time of day, and some other items. Many others have...

    AAA premiums: 30 percent rise

The reason many of us stay with the same insurance company for many years is that getting quotations is very difficult and very time consuming. From TV advertisements one might think that it is quick and easy, but it is not. Generally one can save money by bundling insurance, i.e., using the...

First Time Driving a Tesla- Just got my MY

Yes; I just tried it after reading this thread. I had a bit of trouble with "fold mirrors" though. It thought that I said, "old mirrors". I had to pronounce the "h" louder.
