Alberta imposing $200 EV tax starting in 2025

Don't give them any suggestions. I expect that exact situation will happen with milage eventually. But as for the lack of road tax for ev's, if you really thought they would not tax you for using the road you need a head shake.

New Brunswick third party device centres, which ones have you used?

I have no idea what a "third party device centres" is but any shop that does alignments should be able to check and correct. The suspension is no different than any other car, other than using the cheapest ball joints known to man. But with your other problems and codes I wouldn't expect just...

For #3, if you sold the car why would anyone care?

Alberta imposing $200 EV tax starting in 2025

Why would anyone compare a mid size sedan to a pickup truck? Model 3 is 17% heavier than a honda accord, which is also a larger vehicle. And I also can't see why C02 has anything to do with road use taxes.

Alberta imposing $200 EV tax starting in 2025

Should be an announcement from Ontario soon. Don't blame them, evs don' pay any road use tax and weigh considerably more which is also harder on the roads.

    M3P: Trade or sell?

No he would get savings on the trade in not the equity.

Opening Tesla Mechanic Shop In Toronto

Most shops make $$ off of the parts, you are going to have to source a vast majority of parts at full retail from Tesla. If you mark them up at the normal rate your repair prices will much higher than just going to Tesla. What can you offer that they don't to get thoses cars in?

Model S windshield cracks almost every winter

Most Tesla's don't have resistive heating. Only older years had them.
  9. H

    How would you handle this...

Exactly, why even involve the building management as parking in a handicapped spot is against a bylaw pretty much everywhere. And it's not a cheap ticket.

Tesla Service 2013 Tesla model s 60 Rear brake pads are seized in calipers service estimate 1363

Its a 10 model year old car. $120,000 sure. Find a local shop, brakes are brakes.

Blew something up in the rear!…

Not necessarily, if the aftermarket parts didn't cause a OEM part or system to fail ie. rear drive unit then it shouldn't be a problem. Note the word "shouldn't"

Blew something up in the rear!…

    Yes they do.

Is single peice casting a good or bad thing?

The model 3 is unibody and has no "frame" How does saving tesla money building the car outweigh the repair costs. The insurance and repair costs for all teslas in a few years when they are out of warranty are going to shock some people.

    93 mile Model 3?

At 38 grand after incentive, might just have to buy a couple to part out.

Cost to Import from US? Possible? Not worth it?

That must be a Tesla thing then. The last time the CDN dollar was at a good level I bought both a Ford and a Harley in NY and Illinois, both were bought with a Canadian address and were issued a temp plate. No state tax on them at all. After all said and done the Ford was almost 10 grand less...

    Model 3 in New Brunswick?

20 moving parts vs. 150000 ???? Better go count. As you are way off on both counts. When I took my 3 to service last week the bays were packed, different service, yes, less not really. Your front left suspension has more than 20 parts.

Tesla 3: Second drive unit failure in under a year

How do you figure his car is "very reliable"? The equivalent of 2 engine failures is 6000 miles sure doesn't make his car reliable.
  19. H

Tesla 3: Second drive unit failure in under a year

Don't you think on a year old car with only 6000 mile at a minimum there should be an explanation?

    Range reduction from the cold

Hi, looking to hear from any Model Y owners up north in Alberta this week. Edmonton/Fort Mac area. or similar cold. Has anybody done a highway drive this week of a meaningful distance and can let me know what range you are getting with the -40c temps you are suffering thru? Stay warm if you can.

Long Term Depreciation of the Plaid S

But that small block will end up in a vehicle which is not locked down to prevent the use of non OEM parts. People who bought Lithium 12v batteries ran into the problem not long ago.

    Tow hitch removed from website

New casting? Maybe need new design hitch and didn't plan ahead? Just a guess.

Why are Teslas excluded from BC Scrap-It program?

If you search the list of participating dealers Tesla is no where to be found. I expect that to be a participating dealer there is probably a fee probably they pay a portion of the rebate. Tesla probably doesn't want to pony up.

Customer Service [bad service center experience]

No other brand I have owned will make an appointment for a scheduled checkup and take 2 days to do it. That's the point of an appointment. The excuses some come up with will never put pressure on Tesla to make improvements. The service is actually recommend when 2018 was purchased. Just...

2021 Model 3 heater not working

But with the new octovalve system being used for heating and cooling all major systems in the vehicle it is a little more serious than just loss of cabin heat. If it is faulty batch of parts it would be in their best interests to recall. But after sales service is defiantly not their strong suit.

    New Tesla Wrap

Second pic is a dead ringer for a VW Bug. And pass on the color. But if she likes it that's all that matters.

Are wheel locks worth it? And if so, which are best?

My neighbor got a new model y about a month ago, before he had a chance to put on winter tires and rims, some asshat jacked up and stole the rear wheels. They used a can of orange spray paint to first paint the cameras then jacked it up and took them. Oh and they did not use the jackpoints...

Keeping Model Y Window Defrost and battery management during winter

Another thing to consider is as it is a heatpump it cannot do both heating and cooling at once. (I don't believe) And in a "normal" car when you turn on the defrost setting the AC compressor turns on to dry the air and then it goes thru the heater core to heat the air before it blows the dry...

    Just got rear ended

In Ontario you call your own insurance company. Doesn't look bad. But have you had the trunk lid painted before? Sure has bad paint on it.
  33. H

Only Tesla can do the alignment??

Maybe they just don't want to? Restricted access to parts and tech info could have something to do with it. That said the Model 3 at work has had it done twice from an independent shop. So I think they can but choose not to.
  34. H

    Glove box contents upon delivery

Every vehicle I have purchased in the past 20 years has had a Owners Manual, warranty booklet and lugnut lock keys. Tesla will not have anything as they do electronic manuals and don't include locking lugnuts. Be sure to download the current warranty and keep it in a safe place as they have...

    Advise Needed

Do people really think stainless steel won't scratch and ding? At least with paint it can be buffed, polished or repainted. I would bet $$ that the cyber truck, unless a garage queen will mark up and look alot worse than even the worst painted Tesla after a short time. And fixing it will...

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I don't think he will get anywhere with regulators for not getting a response in 2 business days. And from my experience if a static object is hit the driver was usually going to fast, not paying attention or following to close, or a combination of more than one. I expect OP will lose...

    RCTA question

Slowly? Summon is fun to watch as people walk faster by it and a couple times at Costco the idiot that's too lazy to walk to his/her car gets comments from the people trying to park and having to wait for this slow/ frequently stopping car to get out of the way. I see it as a useful feature...

    Model Y Service Bulletins

I believe most states require that to first register/title the car after manufacture. I bought a bike out of state and got it and had to turn it in to title the car.

    Tesla Solar Roof in Canada

I have no idea what slate would cost in the GTA. Never seen one around there. I've a house about 2600 sq feet in the GTA and the roof cost 8 grand taxes in for 50 year shingle. Sure you can get higher quotes and I had 3 from 7,000-11,000 but the shingle I wanted was only used by the one I...

    Model Y Service Bulletins

But what good is it if they don't follow their own guidelines? One thing to have them and actually use them. Mind you most of these are just check for possible problems which most cars probably don't have.

    Tesla Solar Roof in Canada

I've looked into the solar tiles and there is no way at the current cost it would ever pay back the difference in roof cost. Even at half the cost of the Solar tiles it really can't work. For a good part of the year here there is less than 8+- hours of light and a good portion of those days...

Smart summon with biking rack does not work

Take the bike rack off? Probably blocking sensors. Park your own car? instead of blocking traffic in a lot watching the car go 1 mph and stopping multiple times to decide what it should do. That feature is NOT ready yet.

    Another AC Post

Well I didn't think starting an account here this year makes any difference. Doesn't change the fact that if they did prioritize the battery to be cooled at the expense of the cabin is just stupid and makes the car unusable for alot of people. And I have owned a model 3 for exactly 5 days...
  47. H

    Another AC Post

Does that not make it a badly designed system if the car is doing that on purpose? That's a pretty big reason not to buy a Y if they have to disable the AC to cool the battery. Be fun riding to work in a suit.

Model 3 Warranty - 4 years but 12 months or 12,000 for Rattle?

They seem to make things and terms up on the fly. Is there a warranty booklet in the car or is That a constantly changing on screen only? Hard for someone to get coverage when there is no hard copy from when you bought the car. Easy for them to change it when they see fit.

My model 3 prevented a crash by applying emergency braking while in reverse

A couple business next to mine have that as a policy fro employees, They supply a lot of industrial companies. So many of them in vans and pickup trucks have backed into the fire hydrant on the curb they had to put a rod with a flag on it to help people see. Funny part is it still happens...

    Lease prices way too high?

Never heard of the 1% rule. It all comes down to residual value. I guess they think the value in 3 years will alot less than what some people might hope for.
