Matte Clear Bra VS Gloss Clear Bra...What do you prefer?

We've heard that matte clear bra is more expensive than wrapping the car into a matte color. But we agree, matte is our pick!

Matte Clear Bra VS Gloss Clear Bra...What do you prefer?

Ahh that makes sense. Have you ever considered protecting the windshield or front bumper as those tend to collect the most rock chips

Which one do you guys prefer? A clean look or a stealth look?

    Loot box disappeared

From previous experience, if you hold down the two buttons on the steering wheel it will reboot the system and it came back. It may or may not work, but give it try if you haven't yet.

    Integrated wireless charging in cubby

Wow that's very creative! How is it working out so far? Im assuming it should work perfectly, if not better than the Tesla charger haha

Wow that sounds awesome! If you ever have the time be sure to take a trip to LA, and drive along the coast!

Hit and Run. Software update screwed me over

We're not in West LA, but we have been a long time TAB certified shop that works closely with the service centers in Southern California. Our Diamond Bar/Walnut location would probably be the closest to you. We're even tasked by Tesla's Pomona bodyshop to handle their vehicles and have a great...

Considering switching from Audi SQ5 to Model Y

It's nothing new and unexpected. The majority of issues are still panel fitment and paint issues. In the beginning, there were some glaring flaws with paint. Measuring the thickness from panel to panel we saw a crazy range that either didn't hit minimum requirements or exceeded them. One car...

Considering switching from Audi SQ5 to Model Y

Could be true. We do talk to different teams, though. I was speaking to our regional in charge of the body shop program since our internal score with Tesla is tied in to our cycle time. I was concerned that we'd be dinged when our parts started getting delayed again. But, who really knows...

Considering switching from Audi SQ5 to Model Y

I'd suggest waiting a bit longer to order. On our end, we were told a few weeks ago to expect some delays in parts and production due to them retooling several of the production lines for the Y to address fitment and paint issues. On my call yesterday, they vaguely inferred that the retooling...

    Wheel color (help me)

A fan of the first one. If it was me...I'd get those in satin.

    Wheel color (help me)

Nice nice. The real solution here...is to just buy multiple wheels with different colors and change them every season.

    Wheel color (help me)

Are you lowering your car by the way? I think to pull off bolder colored wheels, you definitely need to eliminate that wheel gap. It helps a lot, imo.
  15. Diamond Hills

    Wheel color (help me)

Personally, I think it might be a bit much. The multispoke is already busy and the rose gold addition puts it over the top for me.

Does my model 3 look totaled

Echoing others, that's most likely repairable. You can never tell for sure until you do a one hundred percent teardown. However, we've definitely seen worse (including susp, rear body/floor, etc.) that was not totaled.
  17. Diamond Hills

    Wheel color (help me)

Hard choices. If it was me, I'd go with bronze since I've been on a bronze kick lately. But, I've also had every other color of wheel before except bronze so that was what swayed me on my newest set of wheels. Anthracite/gunmetal are always close second choices for me, though. Nice, clean...

The New Normal - Parts Unpainted, Returning my Model Y

Just curious but which Tesla delivery center did you deal with? We've seen a lot of complaints at our shops regarding the Los Angeles delivery and service centers versus the Orange County locations. I'm just wondering if it's a specific center or regional policy or anything else that may be...

    Blowing the Carbon Out

And that reminds me of our owner's FD that can run maybe one hot lap at this point and then has to pit, lol. If it's not losing too much oil, it's having fueling issues. Good times. Good times.

    Blowing the Carbon Out

We had a customer tell his spouse that he needed to drive aggressively/floor it every few days to properly drain and cycle the battery. When the wife picked the vehicle up, she pulled out of our lot and promptly floored it...straight into the car in front of her. We got the car back. :|

Advice after Being rear ended, ugh

I'm glad to hear that you're safe. Hopefully the pain doesn't turn out to be anything too serious, but it never hurts to get everything checked out. As for the car, it's difficult to say. A rough visual estimate is a 18-20k hit easy based on our experience. We've had instances where the car...

    Mismatch Paint!

Like others have said, it's an issue with the pearl white. Even several body shops have issues blending and matching the three stage colors such as pearl white. Like @raggedy said, if Tesla is offering to repaint, then take them up on the offer. Whoever repaints it is going to have to have to...

    MY Body/alignment issues

It's still all over the place at the moment. Even on the same car, we've seen some panels fit amazingly while the other side of the vehicle is a hot mess. If it bothers you, my suggestion would be to get friendly with a reputable TAB shop in your area. The service centers aren't body shops...

We appreciate that! Like I said, we're all in this together. A little compassion, understanding, and communication goes a long way these days - regardless of the industry or situation you're in. We've definitely never had anyone as far as you come to visit us, though. Haha. Though; we've...

Model 3 Headlight & Bumper Replacement Experience

Unfortunately, your experience is not uncommon it seems. From our point of view, we see Tesla constantly rolling out new procedures and processes in an attempt to alleviate some of these issues. It feels like every other week I'm on a call with them to discuss something new they want to try...

I’ve never cried over a car until today...

Glad to hear that it was only the car that was damaged and not you or your family. Gotta be grateful for the positives. Like others have said, though, that's probably toast. We have two sitting on our lots with similar hits and they're both total losses.

    Another rejected model Y

I wouldn't be surprised. We're actually still waiting for someone to contact us for a minor dings/paint issues. We're willing to do one car completely free just to show the forum why Tesla has been sending their work to us. Proof is in the pudding and it's easier to show than tell. Yadda yadda.

Anyone regret not opting for performance?

I feel like it's a much larger difference with a Pcar. I was in the same boat. Couldn't settle for a base after test driving the others. When it comes to the Y, we've been having this discussion at our management meetings. For a new marketing car, do we need to get the performance model...

Did Tesla Fix Your Y after Delivery?

Even when it's baked, the paint still has to cure fully. According to the paint manufacturer (BASF), they recommend a minimum of two weeks. Optimally, you'd wait a full month. We have seen a few instances where people did not wait and the paint is fine for a bit. However, it may develop...

Worth postponing order until after Fremont retool?

I think the paint is a bit of a pipe dream right now. We were told that a few body panel lines were being retooled for tighter tolerances. Long story short, us and and I'm assuming other high volume TAB shops have been fighting this battle for a while now. They send us parts, we reject them...

Worth postponing order until after Fremont retool?

Take what I say with a grain of salt since all we see are the problems. However, if it was me, I would wait. As you pointed out, the paint issues - specifically the paint depth variance - isn't something that I would accept. Love the vehicle in all other aspects but the quality of...

Did Tesla Fix Your Y after Delivery?

That does sound like something in their wheelhouse. They usually contact us for the more difficult jobs or to get a second opinion. Regardless I'll have Orange keep an eye out for you if it turns out Santa Ana can't fix it.
  39. Diamond Hills

Did Tesla Fix Your Y after Delivery?

To be honest, if Santa Ana can't handle the paint work, your car will have a 99% chance of winding up at our Orange location. :p

Did Tesla Fix Your Y after Delivery?

The Costa Mesa and Santa Ana guys are staffed by really great people. We've come to know them well over the past year or so. I know Tesla SC's catch a lot of flak and at times it's definitely warranted. However, in our experience, these two SC's really do try to help the customer. Even when...

    Is my Model 3 total'd?

Definitely not totaled and it's a relatively simple repair all things considered. The parts wait is much better now depending on who you take it to. Certain shops have priority based on their overall performance, internal Tesla scoring, and how much volume they do. For example, we receive...

    Front End Damage - Totaled?

Pretty common hit that we see frequently. In our experience, this would be anywhere from 22-27k just based on a rough visual. Unfortunately, these cars are hard to total depending on age and mileage.
  43. Diamond Hills

    Aaargh! Scratched my Induction rims!

Where in California are you? There's quite a few reputable shops here in Southern California that could handle it without issues I'm sure.

Quality of new MY's - is it better now?

You are correct with the inconsistent paint depth from one panel to the next. We measured two white Y's and there were six variances in paint depth across six panels. For both of them, we're essentially repainting half the vehicle.
  46. Diamond Hills

Quality of new MY's - is it better now?

I wouldn't be in a rush to get a Model Y... We've dealt with several and I would definitely wait. They are shutting down several production lines to retool and 'upgrade' from what we were told. Better safe than sorry with this one.
