Extension cord with mobile charger using 240v 14-30

I made a 14-30 25' extension cord from Dryer Buddy to my portable charger. Used 10 gauge wire, and have had no issues.

    Accident in Tesla S....any advice??

My Wife dented the right passenger door and rocker panel when pulling into our carport. I took it to five independent shops for an estimate and none of them would work on the car. They all referred me to the authorized Tesla body shop in the area. $2400 dollars later the car looks perfect...

How to charge Model S at home?

I use my mobile connector for at home charging. Use a Dryer Buddy to share my dryer outlet 30 amp connection (14-30 adaptor). I've also charged on a 50 amp circuit (14-50 adaptor). Both are adequate. You will need to get the proper adapter from the Tesla Store. Have your electrician...

Legacy Manufactures Are Missing The Boat

I recently had to take my Ford F250 (that tows my 12,000 pound fifth wheel) to a Ford dealer due to a major transmission fluid leak. It was only 45 miles from home, but I didn't want to take a chance on ruining the transmission. To make a long story short, we rented a car to get home. Next...

Small dent on 2018 Model 3 leads to a totaled status by insurance

My wife cut our driveway too close and scraped and dented the front lower corner on the right rear door. Also scraped the plastic rocker panel. I called 5 body shops, and they all referred me to the local "Tesla Authorized" body shop. Nobody else would work on it. I'll be picking my car up...

    Donut spare

I've got the Modern Spare and jack/toolkit. Carry it 99% of the time, just take it out when doing a Costco run. When (not if) I get a flat, I can change it in 15 minutes. Beats waiting an hour or more for a Ranger to come to me.

Does anyone charge using an extension cord from their dryer plug?

I have a Dryer Buddy with a 25 foot extension cord to the portable charger. Haven't had any issues or heat at the connections. Been using it for 11 months.

    Curb rash

Google "wheel repair near me". Most are mobile and come to you. You can also check with car dealers. They all have wheel repair guys come to their lot and repair wheels on used cars. I used to own a wheel repair shop until I sold it and retired.

Flat tires - Fix yourself vs Roadside Assistance?

Mine did not need a spacer. Only certain models and wheel sizes require a spacer. The person at Modern Spare would know if you need a spacer.

Flat tires - Fix yourself vs Roadside Assistance?

Its a PITA, but I carry a Modern Spare and their toolkit. Slime, air pimp and plugs do you no good if you have a sidewall puncture. I can have my Tire changed before roadside service is even dispatched.

    $1000 screw [through tire]

Find a good wheel repair shop. I used to own one and have personally repaired 100's of wheels with nail holes like yours. Should be around $100 to fix.

19” Gemini Wheels - Powder Coating?

I used to own a Wheel Repair shop before I retired. Our lowest price was $134 each including tire dismount, mount and balance, and TPMS removal and install. Color restricted to low gloss and gloss black (because we bought those colors in large quantities. Custom colors were more.

Used Tesla Model S Delivery Experience!

Purchased my 2016 MS from Tesla in May, 2020. Got the 4 year warranty. Probably would have not purchased with current 1 year warranty. Very happy with car, no major complaints. Biggest issues are driver seat rubs against console and makes noise. If I shift my weight, goes away. Also, there...

    "CPO" vs. "Used" terminology

I purchased 2016 MS from Tesla in May, 2020. Main reason was the 4 year extended warranty. Sucks that its only 1 year now. I don't think they really went through my car like they say they do. The cabin air filter certainly would be on the checklist. I think the filter I changed was the...

Car Camping or Boondocking CA Bay Area

I've been RVing all over California for over 20 years. I have yet to find what you are looking for, especially in the Bay Area. You can't overnight at rest stops. CA 1 would provide the views, but no where to legally overnight. I always find people overnighting along CA 1 around Malibu, but...

21" Wheel/Rim Damage (crack and leak) - Options?

I owned a wheel repair shop for 10 years before I sold it. With larger wheels there is less rubber between the wheel and the road, thus they bend and crack more often. Half of that business was repairing bent and cracked wheels. I've personally successfully straightened and welded on...

    Powder Coat? Paint? Cerakote? Plastidip?

I am not a metallurgical engineer, but I was in the wheel repair business for 10 years. Powdercoated thousands of wheels, and the current owners continue to this day. Never had an issue with the heat from powdercoating damaging or weakening the wheel. It doesn't get hot enough to change the...

Mustang Mach-E Gets Great Reviews = Model 3 Challenger

I'm sure dealers were required to install charging stations and special equipment to service. If they were smart, they would have installed a few in the "front lot" and made them accessible to customers 24/7. A lot of Ford dealerships out there. At least they would have their own version...

    Title/Registration in Living Revocable Trust?

First of all, I'm not a lawyer. I can just tell my experience. When we created our revocable trust, our home was re-titled into the name of the trust. Vehicle titles were not changed, not necessary (according to my attorney). Somewhere in the trust, there was a clause that included all...

Small specks of chipped windshield glass?

When the sun shines directly through the windshield of my MS, it looks like it was sandblasted. Bought it used, prior to me, it was in Las Vegas. Couldn't have been sandstorms because paint was fine. They must be using a very soft glass or something.

tire replacement for my leasing Tesla model S

Really can't tell. Bought the car (used from Tesla) in May. Replaced tires in June. Only have used car for local short trips, very little freeway driving. I can't tell the difference in noise between these and originals. They really grip the dry road and are good in the rain.

Drilling out wheel stud holes M12 to M14

Are you sure the wheels will fit? What is the offset of the TE37 compared to M2 offset. What about the hub size on the TE47 compared to M3? I was in the wheel repair business for 10 years, and I wouldn't attempt to do what you are proposing.

Buying a used Tesla from Tesla?

Bought my 2016 MS from Tesla back in May. In addition to the rendered pictures, they included pictures of damaged areas. The driver seat bolster was worn, and there was a slight dent on the hood. I thought the price was great, especially with the additional 4 year warranty. Now there's no...

Hate to do that. When you remove the tape, finish on leather will come off.

    Drivers Seat creaking while driving.

Definitely not structural metallic creaking. Mine is a 2016, so I have real leather. Creaking definitely coming from seat rubbing against center console sliding top. I will treat the surfaces to see if it stops, thanks for the suggestion.

    Drivers Seat creaking while driving.

I get creaking from the drivers seat. Found out that if I sit with more weight on the right seat bolster, seat touches center console cover and creeks. Goes away if I shift my weight slightly to the left.

    Charing costs at campgrounds?

I have an RV and I have never seen a rate for charging EV. There are usually open spaces at most campgrounds I have stayed at. I would think it would be a good idea for them to establish an EV charging fee and advertise it. Adding a lot of additional charging options would be a good thing.

With current Warranty restrictions is anyone thinking of buying used MS from Tesla?

I was lucky and got the Tesla 4 year warranty when I bought my car in May. I wouldn't own a Tesla without extended warranty, and that's from someone who has never purchased an extended warranty. In fact, I had purchased a MS from Carvana, but they wouldn't sell extended warranty and I didn't...

Is 350 miles enough for towing 10k pounds?

Check out Ohmman's Airstream Adventures. He's been towing an Airstream with MX, recently upgraded to New long range MX. Normal battery consumption will at least double when towing. In order to not spend 1/2 of your trip charging, and getting a bad case of range anxiety, get the most battery...

    Used 2013 Model S vs 2015 Model S

I purchased my 2016 MS from Tesla in May. At that time they were giving 4 year warranty on used cars. Now it's one year. You may want to look into X-Care for an extended warranty. I'd get the newest year.

I own a 2005 F250 with the 6.0 diesel engine. Purchased from original owner in 2016 with 110,000 miles on it. He kept a log with all oil changes and repairs since new. Only major repair he did was new turbo at 104,000. Truck now has 154,000 miles. I've done quite a bit of work including...
