YMMV, but I was told that if you're buying or financing (i.e not renting) you can do virtually any size or number of panels. You would order whatever you think is the closest thing to what you need and then work with your advisor to get the design team to draw it up.

The way I read it (I have this already with the Model 3) is that this setting only takes effect during a grid outage. Your Powerwalls will continue to charge your battery if you have grid power and you're in self-powered mode. See attached screenshot from the app

That's a good question.. I already have a Siemens whole house surge protector at the main panel. Not sure if they will keep it when they do my solar/powerwall install. Would like to know if anyone else has already gone through this.

Other than just wanting the latest and greatest is there any good reason to want the Gateway 2? Does it have any must-have features now or will any be enabled through software in the future?

This is with the 315W panels... I want to ask them to change to 340W but afraid they won't fit. It's already pretty tight. For what's it worth, my friend who ordered around the same time and already had permits pulled was able to get them to update his design to the 340W panels just yesterday.

I don't believe this is true. The dimensions are the same as the 315W panel currently in my design. I might have to cancel my order if they won't make adjustments.

I was told that if you're purchasing or financing the system they can do custom designs. If you're "renting" then you have to pick one of the boilerplate options. I am trying to do a 30 panel system now so we'll see what they come back with.

As of May 1 NJ is on the TREC program which is far less lucrative. It's only $93 per TREC for residential solar. The difference for me is $5400 up front or ~$12000 over 15 years.. I think I'm going to take the $5400 unless someone can talk me out of it. It's just not as compelling as the SRECs.
