2020 M3, built in Fremont.
Alarm goes off when opening the door with usual phone unlock.
Started with 2022.20.7, downloaded 2 days ago.
Alarm lasts 5 beeps and then shuts off.
Have tried rebooting to no avail.
The email address was indeed erroneous.
In the end I logged a service ticket via the Tesla app (had to book a bogus appointment). Appointment was cancelled by Tesla but then their customer service reached out with the certificate within a week. No fee.
Hi - i just spoke to their customer service, and you should send your request (with VIN# and contact details) to [email protected]. Have just done so now; will try to keep this trail updated
Finally here too.
An insight: the map update was downloaded during the first night since the update was published that I was within wifi range AND the car was plugged in (thanks holiday location, as I cannot plug in at home).
So maybe that is what was holding the update back all this time...
Still no update here. Pinged Tesla Service via the app and got the below answer:
Hi, we have checked this and your maps are on the current latest version available for your Model 3. When a new map update is available this will be sent directly to your vehicle. As no appointment is currently...
Thanks all for the replies.
Took my RHD/UK Tesla to France last year and driving was surprisingly seamless (and I am from France originally / more used to LHD cars).
You can get the Vinci roll transponder very easily (I did); works even with foreign number plates. This takes care of the most...
Cool thanks.
And (aware this is VERY variable according to personal circumstances) what kind of yearly insurance bill do you look at?
I did a quick simulation on Assurland earlier today (with the same data as my current UK insurance (£800 a year), except the no claims bonus which I assume would...
Hi all. I am also contemplating a move to France with our RHD model 3.
My question is regarding car insurance, should we keep our car. Is it significantly more expensive for imports/RHD cars? Or aligned to the local LHD?
Thanks.
My take on all of this (heavily criticised 2020.48 and super minor 2021.4 update) is that Tesla are working on something big (v11? proper fixes to the new UI) and are taking their time to do a nice big release when it is ready. They are not keen to repeat the disappointment that 2020.48 was...
My understanding is that signs are picked up (in my experience, very well) outside of motorways.
The US got a subsequent update (in November I think...?) thanks to which motorway signs are also picked up, but that latter update hasn’t been extended to Europe yet.
My quick impressions
The good:
- I actually like the speed in the top right corner. Easier to see/find for me and am not bothered by smaller font, despite poor eyesight
- displaying the next 1-2 driving instructions on the avatar part of the screen (when the map side is hidden by a menu) is...
Yes. ridiculous pricing.
From my exchanges with the council, it was quite clear that Source London's installation costs are cheaper than other networks'. This way they obviously score points with cash-starved local authorities and get favoured (and we users then balance things out by footing a...
Our council (Haringey) is consulting for installing 37 new charging points. Joy... until i realised these were all Source London.
IMHO Source London is indeed very expensive - some simple calculations pasted below (with or without subscription, with or without night cap) show they cost 3-4 times...
Yes that confirms that the speed limit recognition on highways/motorways is not coming to Europe just yet, unfortunately. Shame as it was the most useful feature of that update IMHO, especially given how very well the 2020.36 local roads' speed limit detection works.
Will need to keep an eye on...
Is auto lane change geo-fenced? Ie it works only on certain roads (and they seem to be the same ones as where NoA is available), based on your GPS position?
In the US/Canada, yes.
In Europe, no: we do not have the "no-confirmation" lane changes here, unfortunately.
So always a manual initiation of auto lane change (after a prompt from the car if/when it is on NOA) over in Europe.
As i understand this is different in the US from the EU.
In the US you can toggle a "no-confirmation" lane change: then NOA will do the lane change for you without any other confirmation than your hands on the wheel.
In the EU, this is apparently not allowed due to additional UN regulations that...
Thanks all for the replies - this is what i thought.
(Yes I tried ALC with AP on but with NOA off, at more than 30mph on the North Circular with 3+ lanes. No luck).
I suspect the EAP upgrade didn't completely work / i have an "old"/semi-working version of ALC and NoA.
For instance my...
Exactly! EAP (highway/freeway/motorway) and FSD (cool city stuff) are for different uses and whether you'll like them depends on where and how you drive.
Also agree there is a learning curve with NoA - feels strange at the beginning, but once you get used to it it is great. Bet you that when...
Same here - great addition and i am going for it.
Pricey for sure, but if you amortise it over the (hopefully long) life of a new car, this seems like a great investment for lots of stress-free long journeys.
Hi all
I have a similar query. I purchased the EAP upgrade last weekend, so have access to Auto Lane Change (ALC) and Navigate on Autopilot (NOA).
My question is this: does ALC work only on roads where NOA works (e.g. a motorway but not the North/South circular)?
I ask this because the...
A note for EU-located readers/owners: in Europe a Tesla wall connector uses a standard Type 2 connector, which will fit and charge any EU Tesla (of course) AND any other EV vehicle with a Type 2 socket.
My take on this:
Yes that is right. If Sentry is activated, then it needs Tilt/Intrusion alarm (would not be a good sentry if it doesn't trigger the alarm when your car is broken into or taken away). And Tilt/Intrusion alarm cannot work with Overheat protection (Overheat protection blasts air...
Hi all.
To confirm I had the same doubt/issue (I have a 2020 M3 model; the driver’s door striker seemed immovable and the screws were the same size as the striker’s thread, so no adjustment seemed possible).
But after a series of good whacks on the slightly-loosened striker with a mallet, I...
Yes - one would expect this kind of detail to be taken care of when buying such an otherwise, nice, premium vehicle!
I made the adjustments described above this weekend and it does make a big difference, so happy. BTW i am not the very DIY/manual kind, but can confirm the procedure is easily...
With picture of the 2 tilt screws (front door)
As explained higher in this thread and in the video, once the outer nut is loosened (10mm hex driver), use a 3mm Allen key to adjust the tilt thanks to the screw at the center of the nut. Turn anti-clockwise (unscrewing) to push the guide outwards...
I had exactly the same question and found this super clear video that explains very well how to adjust the front doors’ window tilt!
Jump to 9 minutes in to see the 2 adjustable tilt screws.
Note the right one is under the speaker, so you need to remove both the door’s panel (to access the...
Hi all.
As per other forums, Sentry mode includes a microphone monitoring the sound inside your car. So if it is active, it is incompatible with Overheat protection (fans make noise...).
Best work-around I found is to switch Sentry mode on, but disable Sentry mode at Home (tick that option...
Hi all
My experience with this process is the following: you need to (or at least I did!):
1. Register your vehicle with the London road user charging scheme. As per other posts this will automatically detect your Tesla as exempt for ULEZ / LEZ but not for the congestion charge (CC).
2. From...
