    Supercharger - Sammamish, WA (LIVE 12 Mar 2024, 8 V3 stalls)

Are you speculating that this is a permit issue, or is there documentation that this is a permit issue? This post reminds me of Cartman being “brave enough to ask questions.”

Supercharger - Federal Way, WA - S 320th St (permit under technical review)

Washington and Oregon have a lot of non Tesla EVs. I wonder what the demand will be between Seattle and Portland after they’re open to all cars. We’re only a year out from that change, and a couple of months from the first influx of cars. You can tell how much use superchargers have based on...

It looks like the stub ups have been installed for the rear pedestals.

11.4.4 FSD has become to dangerous to use

11.4.x for me has a lot more highway phantom breaking and erroneous highway exiting. I don’t use it or any fsd on local streets due to its unreliable nature, but now the highway fsd seems unreliable too. Our 2017 highlander had a better highway experience than this, as did our highway autopilot...

My neighbor’s id4 has a light strip that works this way.

Highland led lightstrip as fsd indicator

Does anyone else see the ambient lighting as a way to avoid mode confusion with autopilot? Placement of lights ahead of the driver, telling them the mode will make sure they understand whether the car is steering or they are steering. And if the light strip can act as 1 dimensional display, it...

    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

Does anyone else see the ambient lighting as a way to avoid mode confusion with autopilot? Supercharger - Seattle, WA - NW. 45th St. (Under Construction Oct 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

The permit is approved. It appears that they uploaded the contractor form (BLACKCL866NK) and paid the remaining fees on 8/22.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Changing topic a bit. Since they are working on what they call v12 with some major reworking of code, I’d expect 1. v11 updates will slow to a trickle, with very little major happening. 2. They will again be looking at their fsd computer and the way the chip is configured. One can optimize...

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Interesting. Some jurisdictions only collect ~half the fees upfront for plan review, then collect the other half at issuance so that they cover the impact fees levied. I wonder how Kirkland operates. You are spot on with the 12 month window! That can get hard to work with for any project of...

    Supercharger - Kirkland, WA (LIVE 7 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

There can be a lot of things that hold up a permit in the ready-to-issue state depending on the jurisdiction process, but most of them are on the applicant’s side. They could be waiting on final paperwork (special inspection nomination, waste disposal forms) or could be waiting on fees. The...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

hopefully this is just a test and the real ones will come out later with better resolution? If what we see on new s and x cars is hw4, it seems that tesla is still targeting L2, albeit with stressful party tricks where it can jerk around a roundabout and successfully take UPLs half the time.
  13. B

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

It took…18 months to go from version 10 to 11? So 3 more versions is 4.5 years Yeah! I’d hope they would progress over longer than the time it takes to transform a middle school student into a college freshman. The world will also be very different then.

    Brief FSD beta 11.3.6 report

This is my experience on the streets as well. But on a rainy highway, adaptive cruise acceleration and deceleration are still worse than radar autopilot. Back in those days, I drove in torrential downpour and adaptive cruise still worked. Today it will refuse to keep up with traffic.

    Brief FSD beta 11.3.6 report

Fsd was a way to get cash in 2016-2019 when the company’s future was in doubt and they needed bridge financing until their production lines were running well. There was a lot of hype about self driving cars, and Tesla was the only company that allowed ordinary people to spend money to get a...

Has Basic Autopilot improved (and phantom braking decreased) since radar was removed? (About to buy!)

To me, the radar phantom breaking was more predictable than the vision only breaking. With radar, if there was a side street or overpass with a moving vehicle, I'd phantom break every time, so I'd know when to shield the accelerator. With vision, breaking seems to occur when the car is uncertain...

Supercharger - Burlington, WA - Marketplace Dr. (LIVE Jun 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

Is this common? It seems to me that this is the way one would setup a set of stalls that also charge ccs cars.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

At what point do we disband this thread? Elon doesn’t tweet about things he doesn’t want everyone’s attention on, so fsd updates are not getting highlights. Instead we get tweets objectifying women and tweets fighting people who try to sterilize of the English language of words and phrases...

Growing FSD liability could be massive.

To me, the largest risk for Tesla would be a collision when using hw3, when hw4 wouldn’t have collided with the other car or a pedestrian. If a higher resolution front camera or the new radar prevented a crash, fault would be more interesting: Tesla has the systems to prevent the crash, but...

Price drop on car - Resetting the price on FSD - Anyone else feeling this is highly disingenuous on Tesla's part?

All speculative. There are discussions about radar being released on ai day. People think it will come out then because it times with the hold on the fcc submittal. Elsewhere musk has stated that upgrades to hw4 will be cost prohibitive. My over under date if I were betting would be first...

Price drop on car - Resetting the price on FSD - Anyone else feeling this is highly disingenuous on Tesla's part?

I'd wait for more clarity on HW4. Unless you need the X now, it seems probable that the next version of the sensors will be in production cars within 6 months. I wouldn't want a brand new 150k car with with 15k spent on an orphaned version of "FSD."
  25. B

HW4 sensor suite and hi-res camera updates?

It depends on what you mean by “work.” Musk said that, without fsd, Tesla is worthless. Forum posters have agreed with this statement, claiming that the functioning of fsd will be immensely valuable. But I think they are misinterpreting the claim. It is not that fsd will just provide a large...

    FSD Beta 10.69

March 2024: 11.x highway fsd is close enough to autopilot that people are not so annoyed that they keep switching profiles to the one with fsd disabled. And a bonus January 2024: new fsd computer, cameras rolled out. Everyone hopes their cars will be upgraded, but it obviously isn’t possible...

    FSD Beta 10.69

The parallel lanes were an entirely separate street with multiple directions and that was displayed in the car visualization. Unless they way overfit the data, or they are using the maps as an input, there is no reason why the car would predict the adjacent parallel road to be there. I am...

    FSD Beta 10.69

I've noticed recently that the car 'sees' in the in-car visualization lanes that can't possibly be seen. For example, I have a road near my house that is parallel to a road offset vertically above it. When on this lower road, the car 'hallucinates' the adjacent road's lane markings, even though...

FSD beta 10.69.3.1 Video Icon Gone

I have a UniFi network that provides data for each MAC address. The video uploads have always gone to AWS and were in the order of gigabytes. I often see megabyte uploads, some at 11:59 pm, but no large uploads anymore. Great question. Thanks for asking :) I wonder why your cars is uploading...

FSD beta 10.69.3.1 Video Icon Gone

Neither of our cars have uploaded any video info since the 10.69.3.1 update. Previously they would upload once or twice per week without pressing the camera icon, sometimes triggered by a fcw. I’ve had a couple erroneous fcw’s this week and neither had demonstrated video uploads. This is the...

How does autopilot behave with and without radar vs Vison?

I drove today from Seattle to Portland in heavy rain. Autopilot was non functional: either refusing to engage, or limiting the speed to a constantly adjusting 50-60 miles per hour. Previous years I made this trip in heavy rain with radar, and had no problem keeping at least the adaptive cruise...

    V3 Supercharger power systems architecture

I’ve been a fly on the wall for this conversation and have learned a lot! Thanks for sharing items about the supercharger design. My main takeaways are that: The total power output increase through charger generations has been a factor of 1.4 (50 to 90kw). The bus sharing through a site instead...

    Supercharger - Chehalis, WA

I think they prioritize builds based on routes traveled and the corresponding perceived needs. We have i5 routes covered without too much weekend waiting, and the more rural areas are so rural that a dedicated supercharger there won’t get full use even on weekends. I think they currently...

Tesla to increase cost of FSD beta software beyond its $12,000 price tag

The only way I see the price making sense is if they expect to retrofit existing cars with new hardware to achieve the goal. At that point, paying for “FSD” is really a prepayment for an upgrade to the sensor suite. If they don’t upgrade the hardware, then (as one who has sat behind my fsd...

    False FSD Strikes?

So that we all better understand the conditions: Are you wearing sunglasses or a hat? Is this in a car with a passenger facing camera? If so, and if it was at nigh, is it one of the newer cars with a driver illuminating IR light?

    FSD Beta 10.11

Fsd builds on production forks have the third digit as a multiple of 5. I would expect 2022.12.5 or 2022.12.10 if this fork is going to be where they incorporate 10.12.

    FSD Beta 10.11

Ha! Good spot. I shouldn’t have made that comment: hyperbole doesn’t come across well in my (poor) writing. I was trying to state that a system designed today would probably use different kit…but…failed. Thanks for the link to old/low-res (and still sold!) camera modules. I’ll stop polluting...

    FSD Beta 10.11

I would assume that, as they approach the next whole number release, more and more development efforts would be toward that release. If it is able to be driven by employees, they wouldn’t be internally testing the 10.x variants as much. I would expect only some of the items that could be back...

    FSD Beta 10.11

I had the same fleeting hope that this release, due to the .5 ending, was a new fsd version. But then I remembered that the third number needed to be a multiple of 5 for it to be the beta, not the forth number. (Or they stop releasing general builds, and the beta just gets the next sequential...

    Supercharger - Salem, OR

Peak charge rate of 202kW starting at 9% charge. I like that there is a v3 supercharger in Salem, but the time it takes to get there from the freeway makes the adjacent v2 chargers congested because they are better for road trips.

    Supercharger - Chehalis, WA

It seems that the new set of chargers is to add capacity and speed, rather than coverage. It’s an interesting approach that is yet to be achieved by the other charging players, who appears to still be constructing 4 carter stations. My math is that, for every 6 cars traveling on supercharging...

    FSD Beta 10.10 Release Notes

Summary: he fsd ui crashes and cameras fail to boot at start. Since upgrading to 10.10.2, I drove about 200 miles, mainly on the autopilot stack. The end of it had about 20 miles on the fsd stack, and the car had three times where there were ui or camera errors. Twice the ui froze in place...

    10.9 FSD

I have been monitoring my car’s network traffic, and it doesn’t appear that the camera-clip-button-presses have been uploading data for about a week. This may be just a bug with my car (or maybe they are tired of reviewing my button presses). Anyone seeing the normal 2gig upload with each camera...
