    Ear pain/Pressure help

Right now, it isn't a 10k hit. I got an offer from zoom 1k more than I paid for the car (before taxes and fees). I'm waiting because I want to trade it in and here in Florida, taxes are based on the price difference.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

For me, the problem started to occur on day 9. I have no idea what changed and why I didn't feel it on Days 1-8. Something definitely changed as my wife and I both felt it immediately at the same time while driving on Day 9. I put in request asking Tesla to buy back the car and they declined.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks. I don't know if it is the same as mine. They are all hearing something. I just feel a pain in my ears. Going back to your original post on this, it could be that it excites a different frequency in the Y than in the 3.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Sorry, I can't find it on the Model 3 forum. Could you or somebody else post a link? I'm desperately looking for any advice anybody has.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for the info. I will go on the Model 3 forum to see if I can find that. Any advice on what I can do about it?

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I made my own to test it. Took a cardboard box, broke it down and shoved it back there. It fit perfectly. I still felt the ear pressure so I figured a real one wouldn't help. Of course, my case seems to be different from most people in that I feel it with the car sitting still and the door open.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I feel it just sitting in the car (not moving) in the garage with the door open. From reading this forum, it seems other people only feel it when the car is moving. Maybe there is just something with this car that resonates any kind of disturbance. For some people it is motion. For me it is...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

If you look back in this thread, you will see that the service center in Florida did the same thing for me. It didn't help.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Nope. I have taken it in 3 times with no luck. I asked Tesla to buy it back and they said no. Like you, I think I have tried everything: adjusted the hatch bumpers, removed the hitch cover, every combination on the AC. I have used 2 barometers and an EMF sensor to try to track it down. Neither...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for the idea. My Y doesn't have the tow hitch, but I took the cover off anyways and it doesn't make a difference with the ear pain. I have adjusted the hatch bumpers (the envelope trick) multiple times and that helps a little, but the ear pressure is still there and is still bad. I...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Hmm. I feel it sometimes even when the car is parked. And the strangest thing, my wife felt it outside of the car! That sounds crazy, but the OP had the same issue.
  12. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I have used two different digital barometers to test the pressure. There isn't an increase in pressure. There are fluctuations. Doing an FFT of the pressure shows more low frequency (10hz and less) in the Tesla than in my Buick or Ford. That was another poster with the audio engineer. I have no...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

It's been a week and my ears still hurt and are currently ringing. It didn't fix it. That was the third attempt at fixing it. I'm done. I need to get rid of the car. Any advice? Should I get a lawyer and try the lemon law? Or is it better to contact the service center first without a lawyer?

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I just picked up my car from the service center. They said they installed these new things on the hatch to stiffen it and also let some more air out. They said that Tesla engineering had recently made these because some people have this issue. I can't remember if they really were not there before.
  15. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for the follow up. I think you mentioned your acoustician/recording engineer earlier and I was wondering why I hadn't seen more. Sorry to hear that he/she is having health issues. I pray they get better. I love the car, so I am praying/hoping that the service center fixes it.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

My car was fine for the first 9 days and then started having this issue. The service center was nice and let me drive another Y and I didn't feel it. I'm about to give up and get rid of it.
  17. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I took my car into the service center. They were very nice again. They are replacing the liftgate wedge dampers. I think this is a great start. My concern is that I feel the ear pressue when the car is sitting in the garage. Is it possible that something (AC? Battery cooler?) is cauing...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I like the idea, but I don't know how to disconnect the subwoofer. The radio was off. Would it be possible for some kind of electical interference to have the subwoofer make noise even if the radio was off?

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I just sat in my car for the first time in a week. (it really hurts my ears so I have been avoiding it). My wife and I both felt the ear pressure with the car sitting in the garage not moving with the door open. I tried turning off the AC to see if that was it, but by that time my ears already...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Yep, I agree. Adjusting the hatch definitely helped me, but I still feel it. My wife says she feels it when the car is in the garage, leading me to believe it isn't just the hatch.
  21. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks, this and other posts make me a feel a lot better. Most of the time the Tesla service center makes me feel like something is wrong with me bringing this issue up to them. They don't feel it and they have never heard of this issue. They make me feel like I am an idiot. Reading posts like...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

That's awesome. I'm excited. I'm hoping you are able to do this before my Service Center appointment on the 17th. If you do start another thread, can you please post on this thread that you have? I'm just checking this thread.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks! Hopefully you and Yonki can talk, as he seems the most knowledgeable on this subject. I'm not sure where you live. If it happens to be Florida, Maybe I could come borrow them in person so you can see I'm a real person.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for another great post! I'm taking my car in on the 17th. I will tell them that somebody in California is having the same problem and submitted them to Tesla Engineering. I have a cheap Android Phone (Moto G7). The two apps I used were Infrasound Detector by Sergio Gudkov and Infrasound...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Very interesting point! Well worded and concise too! OK. I'll buy what you are saying. So how can I prove to Tesla that I have an infrasonic sound problem? I downloaded several infrasound apps on my phone and compared my Tesla to a Ford and a Buick and got the same results. What I have read on...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Yes, great post Thanks. Unfortunately this doesn't describe what I am feeling. I feel ear pressure in both my Y and the model 3 I had as a loaner. It isn't anxiety. It is an ear pressure like I am on a plane. Maybe we have different problems.
  27. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Is the AC system the same system that does the battery thermal management?
  28. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

For my own Model Y, it was fine for the first 9 days. Then I hit a small bump puling into a parking lot and have felt it ever since. The first time I took my Model Y to the SC, they had me drive a new one and I didn't feel it in that. I had a Model 3 as a loaner and felt it in that. I drove...
  29. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for your help. How do we know if it is a 10Hz infrasound causing the issue, or some random pressure waves that are too quick to be captured by my 1Hz barometer? I know the problem is made worse then the 4 hatch attachment points aren't all touching. I don't believe that is a harmonic or...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I want to be able to measure whatever is causing this so I can prove to Tesla that there is a problem. The service center does have the problem that most of the Technicians can't feel it. So they can't fix it because they are pretty much flying blind. It's make an adjustment, givie it back to...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks, Makes sense, but I have no idea what Hz I'm trying to measure. I don't know the physics. I just know that my ears hurt after driving the car. I don't hear anything, my ears just hurt. Your previous post suggested around 500hz. Is that what you think it is? Or was that just an example?
  32. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I feel it in my Model Y and also felt it in a Model 3 I had as a loaner. Since the Model Y and Model 3 have different shapes and AC systems, I am thinking it has to be the colling system for the batteries.
  33. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I was using a barometer that measures at 1 Hz. I'm going to borrow my bosses barometer that measures at 20Hz. I was hoping that would be fast enough but your post makes it sound like that won't work.
  34. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I finally got through to that sound company. He didn't think they would help for my problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for the idea. I made a carboard one and it didn't help.

    Model Y Buffeting

I'm having the same problem and have posted it on another thread. I had the buffeting. I adjusted the 4 contact points in the hatch. I don't hear the buffeting anymore, but I feel an ear pressure or ear pain like I am on an air plane. It's so bad that I have had to go to the Dr. I have had it...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Sorry to hear that. What car are you planning to replace the Y with?
  38. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks. Before dropping $200 on the shelf, I might try making a temp one out of cardboard to see if it helps.
  39. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for the suggestion. Like the OP said, the feeling is slow to come and slow to go. So if I feel it, I can't tell if rolling down the windows helps because it takes too long to go away. When I had it at the service center, they said they checked the outflow valves and they were fine.
  40. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for putting that together. I don't have a stereo system to listen to it unfortunately. For me, my problem is unrelated to the sound. The other Y I drove and the S loaner make the same sounds as my Y, but in my Y my ears hurt. I felt the ear pain today sitting still with no sound. I just...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks. You have to dumb it down for me. What would I have to buy to get a better reading on low frequencies? Just a dumb plug in Mic for zoom? Would my laptop be any better?
  42. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Again, I'm not the OP but I'm having the same issue. Let me try to answer the same question the OP did. I apprecaite everybody trying to help. For me, the car was great for 9 days. I hit a small bump and then have been fealing pressure ever since. As the OP said, the effect is slow to start...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Please let us know of any updates. I completely understand since I am going through the same thing. I had been thinking about getting a Tesla for 6 months. I was so excited. It's very frustrating. What is the procedure that they are going through? What is their customer resolution? How are...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

My wife says she has felt the ear pressure with the car sitting in the garage. I'm not sure. To me, after I drive for 5 or 10 minutes my ears start to hurt. I can't narrrow it down. Yeah, I'm wondering if it is a low frequency. I have tried a spectrum analyzer on my phone. but those don't seem...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I did the hatch adjustment. That really helped, but the ear pressure is still there. I put a blanket in the back. That didn't help. What's the "modelyshelf"? That might help?
  46. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Thanks for the update OP. I'm in the same boat. The SC doesn't feel the ear pressure, so they can't fix it. Please let me know what happens. In my Y, there is no real sound associated with it. I just feel ear pressure/pain, like being in an air plane. I do feel and hear every little bump...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I'm not the OP, but I am having the same issue. I took it into the Orlando SC. They didn't feel the ear pain at all. They checked the outflow valves and said they were fine. The problem is actually worse now that it is back from the SC. I just don't know what to do.
  48. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Sounds promissing. but I googled and couldn't find any good links. Anybody got a good link?
  49. S

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I wasn't the OP but I was having a similar problem. I was convinced that it was due to pressure, so I just bought a barometer. The pressure outside was 1014.5 mBar. When I got in and drove, it dropped down to 1013.5 mBars or so. It doesn't seem like the problem is the pressure, but I will...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Just to follow up, I'd like the check the outflow valves, but I can't figure out how to get to them. I watched the video where somebody routes a wire through them for a hitch, but I still don't know how to get to them. Is it at the bottom of the wells in the back? Or on the side?
