Trunk, Frunk, door reports open when they're not

I recently had a similar (but not identical) issue with both driver-side doors. Each time the door was opened, the car immediately thought it was closed right back even though it was actually still wide open. The main problem with this, of course, is that it would scoot the window all the way...

Can’t wait for my CT I do have a general question are superchargers typically at places that we can kill time with while she’s plugged in like store

I think most brands have gone away from advertising their trucks as ½-ton or ¾-ton. Payload is a tricky thing to compare because most trucks now come in so many different configurations that the numbers are all over the place, between fuel and engine choices, gearing, and optional equipment...

    Model Y Brake Controller

Seems like Trailer Mode should automatically put you in Low Regen, to make the braking experience more like an ICE.

Can’t wait for my CT I do have a general question are superchargers typically at places that we can kill time with while she’s plugged in like store

If you look at the Supercharger map on the Tesla site, you can click on each individual location in your area to see what's nearby. Many do tend to be in shopping centers or at least near a fast food place. You can't be away from your stall for too long, though--once you're done charging, you...

CyberTruck - Charging while Towing long trailers

I have yet to encounter either. The Superchargers I've seen with pull-in stalls aren't going to accommodate a trailer because you're still going to block neighboring stalls. How does it work in Petaluma?
  9. LNL_HUTZ

    Driver Side Bumper damage

The fender trim is held in place with plastic clips. Last year, it was not uncommon for MYs to be delivered missing some of those and the way you could tell is by the trim bowing out in places. If that's all you think you need and you can pop them in yourself, I would reach out to Tesla via...

    Supercharger stations full?

I hit Needles, Yermo, Mojave, Traver, Merced, and Roseville Galleria over the past two days and did not have to wait at any of them.
  11. LNL_HUTZ

CyberTruck - Charging while Towing long trailers

Agreed. As much as I'd like to see Tesla build lots more Superchargers with at least some pull-through stalls, I don't really see that happening. The vast majority of Teslas over the next few years will be M3s and MYs and very few of those will ever see the business end of a trailer. This is...

    Cybertruck Gooseneck Hitch Capability?

I don't think anyone has any hard information at this point, but the Tesla renderings have included images of a CT pulling a fifth wheel. I agree--even with the dual-motor setup, assuming it ends up at 10K lbs GVWR, it would be almost ridiculous not to allow more than one kind of towing setup...

    Production In June?

This seems awfully optimistic. According to the report from a couple weeks ago, they just ordered the 8,000-lb Giga Press, I believe from a European manufacturer. It's supposed to be the first of its kind. Three months to manufacture the machine, test it, ship it across the Atlantic and...

    Supercharger stations full?

Drove from the Bay Area to Lake Havasu a few days ago. There were a couple concerns. First, stopping over in Bakersfield requires some advance planning because the in-town Supercharger isn't open yet, so the nearest one is off I-5 right now. The hotel next door to mine happened to have a...

Elon responds to tweet about Tesla becoming the biggest company because of FSD

You have to go out to a LOT of decimal places before this statement becomes statistically true. With almost any other probability, it would just get rounded to 0.

    Model Y Manual Versions?

I read the thread title and was expecting to see that someone outfitted a Tesla with a stick shift. Since there don't seem to be multiple versions of the manuals for older models like the MS and MX, they probably cover the hardware updates and variances as "if equipped." I bet the release...

Supercharger - Fort Bragg, CA (LIVE 21 May 2021, 12 stalls)

Good recon work! On a completely selfish note, I just hope it's done in the next 60 days because I'll be towing a trailer to Fort Bragg over Memorial Day.

    Reservation number

It sure seems like those reservation numbers cover all Tesla models, not just the CT. So if you're within 1,200 of the first CT reservation, that doesn't mean that all the numbers between 112744250 and you are CT orders. I'm basing this on the fact that my MY reservation last year started with...

    Options

Has there been any indication that a brake controller would be incorporated as well? Seems like a necessary option given the towing capacity and general vehicle spirit.

    Supercharger stations full?

This should improve once the Auburn SuC comes online. I think right now, if you're going east on I-80, Rocklin is the last one before Truckee. There are two Roseville locations right before that, though.
  25. LNL_HUTZ

    Supercharger stations full?

Having made multiple trips between the Bay Area and Sacramento or Tahoe (both ends), I have only had one instance when all the stalls were taken, in Rocklin. There was no line and, by the time I drove to the back of the Supercharger and turned around, someone pulled out. There have been...

    Preferred Floor Mats MY

I second this. The price is competitive (especially when they had Black Friday deals) and the mats are good. I keep the cargo one in place all the time. The passenger ones I sometimes just throw on top of the regular carpets, but for more extended trips I swap them out and the grippy strips...

    Model Y Brake Controller

Some pictures of my completed Tekonsha P3 installation. On the whole, this is not a difficult project. Plugging in the pigtail is a pain, but with patience and some sweet talk, the opening got just big enough to work my hand in.

    Model Y Brake Controller

Ditto for the San Francisco service location. I made a mobile service appointment through the app and included the part number for the pigtail in the notes. A couple days later, a tech got back to me to say that they won't come out and plug it in, but I can pick it up any time. None of the...

    Auto Fold On Park?

This is what I started doing and I haven't looked back, so to speak. I also don't lock the car inside my garage and like to have the mirrors folded to make it easier to get around the car, so I just use the camera views instead. Maybe in the future auto-fold will be so precise as to trigger...

    Referral Supercharger Miles

I asked the same question and got the same response. Looking at about ⅓ of the free miles expiring because at least one winter road trip didn't materialize due to COVID. Tesla doesn't exactly make it crystal clear that the 1,000 miles are only good for six months, but it's also not a huge sum...

Hansshow Tesla Smart Ring (3/Y) Seattle

This seems like it should be a no-brainer, but do you know if these rings are waterproof? The only time I can ever see using it is if I leave my phone and wallet in the car to go swimming.

Auto pilot in stop and go freeway traffic

I second that. Also, if I know I'm going to be in slow traffic for a while, I turn my set speed down to 30-45 mph. That way the car doesn't try to get up to 65 every time there's a brief clearing, only to slam on the brakes when it catches up. The trick is to remember to crank it back up once...

    Phone key profile question

If one of your phones is in range, it should load the profile associated with it. If both are, the car may not know which to pick. I'm not sure about this, but I remember reading that the order in which you paired the phone keys (or the order they are listed in under the key menu) may be...

    Model Y minivan conversion kit

I have a pair of these that I used with a previous SUV, for putting bikes up on the roof. Between my weight and a 30-lb bike, they left small indentations below the latches--noticeable but only if you know to look for them, and no effect on door function. With Tesla's reputation for easily...

Is there power in the Model Y?

It sounds like the lighter and USB outlets are powered by the small 12V battery, not the main battery pack that powers the car. Maybe if Tesla incorporates two-way charging in the future, it will make more sense to have a 120V household-type plug inside the car, running off the main pack.
