    Supercharger - Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, QC

Hydro québec just published an update about that on their web site. It appears it is now opened, there is 8 180KW with sharing (so 16), there is also 2 350KW with sharing(so 4). Add that to the existing 4 50KW, there are now 24 charging ports. with Tesla, it adds up to 44 charging ports :)

Also, they are cutting all cement pole at supercharger stalls. The guy doing it said it was to give more space for vehicle to go further.

    Supercharger - Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, QC

They are installing hydro quebec level 3 charger (circuit électrique) there are 4 installed 180 kw and can charge 2 vehicles at a time (probably half the speed) for what I saw, there will be 4 others installed. The total would be 20 spots(8x2 + 4) including the 4 that were already there

Thanks for the information. I didn't know that.

Tesla is selling model 3 demo vehicles [12.21.2023]

Probably an additional sign that the highland version is coming. There is a lot of model 3 demo vehicle for sale in the inventory (Montreal area at least)

Model 3 LR not currently available to order (USA) [posted 08.12.2022 --Its back! 05.02.2023]

Also of note from the canadian fuel economy numbers. The new M3 LR is less efficient that the old one (16.6Kwh/100km vs 16) so it means the car is also probably heavier or else.

    Supercharger - Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, QC

From Montreal to the south shore. There are other bridges, but it will be difficult for the time being... Unless you absolutely need to go to the south shore before Quebec, it will be easier to take the 40 for the next 3 years.

    Supercharger - Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, QC

Just in time for the tunnel to become a PITA. I probably won't pass by there often for the next 3 years :(
  9. Y

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

Sainte-Marie :( The only one other that sherbrooke and magog south of the 20 Highway... There are not a lot of Teslas sold south of the 20 but there are a lot of Tesla that go visit their family there...

    Regen braking stopped working [2021]

Me too! There are inconsistencies with regen braking for the last few months... On the same drive, regen works and then, out of nowhere, get reduced to the point you think there is none and then it comes back and on and off randomly... It does work most of the time but it happens quite often...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Normally, someone out there will open up that battery pack sooner rather than later and it will probably answer a couple of things. If we are lucky, Tesla itself might give details about it when Austin cars deliveries start
  12. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

heat doesn't flow faster the other way... But I think we are missing something about this owl battery cooling thing... This doesn't make any sense.

Here is the link to the part of the video discussing that: The link

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

This transfer the weight to a different place. In the end, there is active cooling but it is done at a different place. Cooling plates probably cost less that snake (I definitely heard it somewhere but I don't remember where). It takes a little space on top of the batteries but you save space...
  15. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

As the batteries get bigger, cooling with ribbons/snakes on the side is becoming less efficient. The part touching the snake will be ok but the other side of the batteries will have a hard time cooling down. Cooling from one end of the batteries increase the cooling capacity. There are sheets...
  16. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

cooling is done on one side and electrical connections is done on the other side. Look at the Lucid video on the manner, it is a very good video that explain the reasoning behind this setup. Edit: the cooling plates are actives: fluid is circulating in them.
  17. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

ModelY with 2170 cool on the side of the batteries with ribbons. I said top, but I meant from one end of the cell :)
  18. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

There is a cooling system for the modelY. The modelY pump glycol on the side of the batteries, it would instead be pump on the plate over the batteries, so it would be mostly the same for energy draw
  19. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Munro think that it is way more efficient to cool from top or bottom(not both). Even if the travel distance is higher, the heat resistance is way lower so it would be better to do it that way. The cutaway clearly shows that Tesla hasn't done that for 4680 (at least in that cutaway). Also...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

There will be a 279 miles AWD MY produced in Austin as per the discussions done on this thread. The idea that a LR MY and/or perfomance MY may be also built in Austin without EPA recertification is "possible" (I don't know all the rules) but there are some things that don't add up: an LR MY...
  21. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

The 279 miles AWD model EPA document is submitted by Tesla... so it is not a screwup
  22. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Also, not sure if it has been said before, but the new submission to EPA on 2/22 uses the same car (same car ID on page 15) as the submission done on 2/1. So there is no new car coming from EPA anytime soon. Probably only minor adjustment done on the same car. So it looks like there won't be...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Like Firocity said, this may be that the first version of 4680 are not up to what they were supposed to. There was delays compare to what was annouced at battery day and maybe they had to downplay it to get good yield. I don't know if what I say is making any sense, but maybe they are making...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

So the name appears to be MY SR+
  25. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

For EV the weight reduction is super important, so if they are filling up the space with something that is as heavy as batteries, it would be a very bad design. But yes, it would make sense to fill the void with something for structural integrity.
  26. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Good catch, but I am gonna go full speculations here: the software hasn't been updated yet to show the correct model name since it is a new model...
  27. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

I talked about a possible "soft lock" in a latter post. But with the name being AWD as in not LR AWD, it would make no sense to bump those numbers up too much... The AWD can't be as good or better than the AWD LR
  28. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

unless they soft lock 30% of the battery capacity, which would explain the weight being the same but capacity being lower. Or the 4680 for the moment are *sugar* quality and they can't use all of its optimal capacity until it is ok. I really hope this MY AWD doesn't contain 4680.
  29. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

You convinced me to look around the different EPA documents :) First thing: normally, the screenshots are not necessarily from the car that was submitted to EPA: docid 54293 has a submission for a Model Y with model 3 screenshots. But in this case it appears to be a screenshot of the model Y...
  30. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

To support my case, here is mostly the same result with model 3. We can see that the LFP version has mostly the same efficiency as the LR version (132 vs 131) but the old SR+ with 2170 batteries has a better efficiency from the lower weight (142 MPGe) this chart looks a lot like the one posted...
  31. Y

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Here what I think doesn't add up: 4680 with structural battery pack and front casting is supposed to weight less at the same battery capacity so it is supposed to be more efficient at the same battery capacity. The new AWD from EPA has a lower battery capacity but mostly the same efficiency...

    (Purchasing / trade-in advise) Upgrade to 2021 LR from 2020 SR+?

Hi @Germ I see you are in Montreal so you look to be in the same situation as I am :) I have a couple of questions: I assume you had bot subventions when you bought your SR+, do you know if you can get kicked in the butt for selling your EV? Have you traded in with Tesla or sold the car...

Why is the charge port in the back?

The current Tesla wall connector has 24' cable which should be enough for different parking configurations. There are also other chargers available with long cable. I think it is the charger setup that should accommodate your needs and not the car. The car doesn't know about your specific...

When will Model 3 be upgraded to giga casting?

I'm speculating here but here are some "facts" that I read here and there. Giga Texas will begin production of the Model Y in October potentially with 2170 batteries. 2170 batteries production is at full capacity (or mostly) at giga Nevada 4680 batteries will be produced at giga Texas probably...

    Maintenance costs

I live in Quebec and we use a lot of salt in the winter. It is generally recommended to clean/lube your brakes (every year or 2 depending on who you ask) whatever it is an ICE of EV. We have a model 3 for over a year now and there is no problem yet. Unless you never press the brake pedal on...

Bio Hazard Now Standard on Model Y

It can be useful for some part of the world like California. But I don't think air quality is that bad for the majority of us. So making it mandatory to help a minority is a bad design decision. Making it optional would satisfy those who wants it and those who don't want it.
  39. Y

Bio Hazard Now Standard on Model Y

Every Tesla can activate the climate control from the phone app... I am not sure how the filter would make this quicker. It filters particules, not heat...
  40. Y

Bio Hazard Now Standard on Model Y

I personnally don't understand the hype about this kind of filter... I would strongly prefer it to be an option and I would choose to keep the 500-1000$ in my pocket. I don't get why this is mandatory.

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

Also a weird thing... The madrid is near there and it has 14 level 3 charging space (6 circuit electric and 8 Tesla) Nothing against "Halte route de l'érable" but it is a smaller stop and it would have more chargers. Definitely not against that :) but worth noticing
  42. Y

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

We see in one of pictures that every conduit goes to a different spot and get out of the ground and it looks like it would fit perfectly chargers in a parking lane. There is one conduit per parking space. I am not a pro, but I really think it is for electric car chargers. It is suspiciously...

ID.4 Canadian pricing announced, undercuts MY LR AWD by $20k CAD :(

In Canada, the situation is very different than in the USA. There is the currency conversion that is not the same depending on the make of the vehicule. The supercharger network is incredible in comparison to others in the US but, in Québec, the network from the utility company is actually...

ID.4 Canadian pricing announced, undercuts MY LR AWD by $20k CAD :(

Also, Sandy is now a Tesla fan and you have to take that into account when you look at its videos. He says he isn't but he clearly is. He even asked for Tesla's money on one of its video. It doesn't make its videos bad, but I see some bias here and there from time to time.
  45. Y

ID.4 Canadian pricing announced, undercuts MY LR AWD by $20k CAD :(

That being said, ID4 UI doesn't look impressive... but you can use android auto or apple car play which are nice and could do most of what Sandy wanted to do.
  46. Y

ID.4 Canadian pricing announced, undercuts MY LR AWD by $20k CAD :(

Sandy is good at disassembling car and giving it's opinion on that. It is less so for riding evaluation... it shows that he's old. If I put my father in a Tesla, he won't be able to put it in drive or park or whatever... That's probably the worst video Sandy put out to date.
  47. Y

ID.4 Canadian pricing announced, undercuts MY LR AWD by $20k CAD :(

An important note is that at this price, it is admissible for the canadian incentive (5000 CAD) and also the quebec incentive(8000 CAD) which make it a lot more tempting than the MY that is not admissible for any of those at the current price. (incentives are applied after taxes so it end up...

    Mach-E review from Model 3 SR+ owner...

It will be available this summer... but you can take it out of my comparison and the result is the same: 4.8s for MME vs 5.0s for the Model Y, so mostly the same and the MME has an edge
  49. Y

    Mach-E review from Model 3 SR+ owner...

The MME is a specs copy of the model Y so I am surprised to read that everyone seems to think that the model Y is quicker than the MME... At the moment, Tesla only has AWD options on its website with the big battery (there is the RWD available of the menu, but I don't know the exact specs). So...

    Tesla-sourced Winter Tires vs Third-party

I built a cart with wheels, tires, tpms sensors and mandatory installation kit (hub rings, nuts etc) at wheelwiz. I put the same tires as offered on tesla web site: pierlli sottozero 3. It came to a total of about 2300 before taxes ( I took wheels that cost 190$ each) So it is cheaper that...
