Tesla S - Promote EV Tourism By Providing Low Cost Destination Charging Stations.

I believe that Tesla have a "destination charging" program for the installation of HPWCs. This would be much cheaper than spending $3k on the unit you've mentioned. It shouldn't be too long before the 3 phase HPWC is released here, which will provide a similar amount of AC charging current.

They like it, but they still get a lot of things wrong. "Acceleration to 100km/h 5.1s" That would be 4.4s for the P85+. "The Tesla we drove is rated for 502km, but realistically you'll get about 300km, and probably less if you have a lead foot." Wouldn't 300km range only be if you have a...

Thank you for providing a non-vertical, normal, horizontal video. Vertical videos need to be stopped! I like on my phone that there is an animation showing that the phone needs to be turned before starting a video if you're holding it vertically. iPhones need this feature badly!

    Australian EV sales results 2014

That's pretty impressive for the Outlander! Especially considering it only really went on sale around April/May. Definitely my choice from that list after the Model S. I think the Model S should do pretty well this year as the public get to know it exists and due to the efforts of enthusiastic...

    Superchargers in Australia

The chargers at Chadstone are HPWCs, not Superchargers. As Roentgenium said, it makes a lot of sense for there to be a rollout of HPWCs in the capital cities, as well as other "final" destinations, rather than superchargers. Superchargers in cities are mostly of use to people who live in...

    EVs in Australia (non Tesla)

Totally agree. I think the best option in Australia for the price is the Outlander PHEV. It's only marginally more expensive than the top diesel Outlander, can tow, has 5 seats, has SUV space in the boot and is still $10k(!) less than the Volt. Of course, the best EV in Australia is the Model...

    Superchargers in Australia

It would be great if they put one at the Taree service centre as far as convenience goes in getting on and off the highway. Only problem I can see is the charging spaces possibly getting ICEd during busy periods, unless they put them some place away from the eating area.

    EVs in Australia (non Tesla)

The other thing I've picked up from reading about it is that the US$30k price is after their $7.5k federal incentive. So, US$2.5k more expensive (US$37.5k) than the projected base price of the Model 3 (US$35k) before incentives (which obviously aren't available to us Aussies). Looking at how...

My sentiments are with timpoo. In principle, I agree with you. However, there are some qualifiers (which timpoo mostly covered in his post). I borrowed a 15ish year old ute from a mate today to pick up some bamboo flooring (we're doing renovations at the moment) and felt like I'd gone back in time! Robert Llewellyn's Fully Charged

One of the problems I see with the Outlander PHEV in Australia is that they did not include the quick charge port. I can understand why though, there is an utter dearth of quick chargers in Australia. It's also about AUD$5k more expensive than the equivalent diesel model here, but that's not too...

    Pure BEV Dogma

*...in the United States. In Australia, the Outlander PHEV represents much better value than the Volt. It is about AUD$10k cheaper than the Volt(!), has 5 seats, 4WD, way more cargo space, can use CHAdeMO DCFCs and drives further overall on a tank of fuel. The only advantage the Volt has is...
