    Selling your existing car

Blimey  That was exactly my fear, either that or finding an issue with payment.

    Selling your existing car

I sold my M3LR a couple of weeks ago to WBAC, they gave me £5k more than I was being offered by Motorway and was at the top end of the Parkers private sale estimate. I had considered selling privately, but tbh I've not sold a car privately for 25+ years and didn't want the hassle of...

    Insurance

I pick up our MYLR next week, called Churchill to change the car from M3LR to MYLR and they're giving me £82 back. I'd already got quotes from Compare The Market, lowest being £300 more than the current M3 policy with Churchill so was bracing myself for an increase. Very pleased with the outcome!

To PPF or not to PPF my M3P

I live in Brighton, salty greasy gunk and seagull blessings are a regular feature of owning a car down here. I got an extended front XPEL PPF plus ceramic coating on all paint and glass done at Venom Wraps in Sussex. For a white car it definitely stays an awful lot cleaner and the water / muck...

    Network Timeout on iOS app

Aha! Thank you, I’ve clearly mixed the two up. I’ll be having a look at those threads to compare the two.

    Mobile Service Experience

I've got them coming out to me next Wednesday to sort out my rear lights - both heavy condensation inside. Just the service booking through the app is a joy compared to other cars I've owned in the past!

    Network Timeout on iOS app

I really need to look in to TeslaFi. The website isn't the best before signing up, and I think I might be confusing something else, but I thought I'd read something somewhere about people using RaspberryPi with this which is a bit out of my experience / comfort zone!

    Network Timeout on iOS app

It is, although this has been on my phone for at least 10 days now. After another day of it not working regardless how many times I refreshed, I started playing with the "turn it off and on again" approach and I've just managed to get it working again... first I rebooted the car, still didn't...

    Network Timeout on iOS app

Is anyone else experiencing problems connecting to their car through the Tesla app? My M3 updated to 2020.44.15 on Saturday, and my iPhone 11 Pro Max is on iOS 14.3 (18C5054c). The last time my app was able to connect was on Monday, I've tried rebooting my phone although not the car yet as I...

So.... I rejected my collection car today :(

Agree with this whole-heartedly. So many of the comments in this thread are things that should never have made it out of the factory. I know that Tesla is seen by many as a software company that makes cars, but that doesn't mean the product they deliver should be low / variable quality

    Way points are coming!!

I don't think so (although I'm still a newbie, so maybe I'm just not doing it right!)
  12. Lucanesque

    Way points are coming!!

Do you mean context sensitive speed limiting? I like that idea, a lot

    Way points are coming!!

So.... I rejected my collection car today :(

Certainly not defending poor quality, but I took my car because at the time it looked like just a few paint touch ups. With the benefit of hindsight and the knowledge I now have of the condition of my car's paintwork, I wish I'd rejected my car :( Its currently just entering it's second week in...

    Sentry mode battery drain

Thanks I’ll try that. I’ve checked the dashcam and that footage is perfect, so it does seem to be related to the sentry specifically
  16. Lucanesque

    Sentry mode battery drain

that’s interesting as the video I had was just flicking back and forth, nothing like the sentry videos I’ve seen on YouTube!

    Sentry mode battery drain

I had to park my M3 at Heathrow for the first week I had it and put on Sentry Mode for most of the time it was there. It seemed to take about 3% per day, however, looking at the recordings the only time it actually triggered was when I got back to the car after my week away!

    Sentry USB drive recommendation

According to the Tesla website there are eight on the outside: Plus isn't there one on the inside that's disabled by default?
  20. Lucanesque

    Sentry USB drive recommendation

Poorly phrased by me posting whilst in a Teams meeting :D My driver for the purchase was firstly a SSD is generally seen as very reliable for long term use, and secondly that more future functionality may require more space - ignore the high speed bit of my sentence.
  21. Lucanesque

    Sentry USB drive recommendation

Too late for the OP, but I went with a 500GB Samsung T5 SSD. Cost me around £80, may well be overkill but I bought it on the assumption that more functionality will be released in the coming months / years that might need more high speed storage space.

Recognising an oncoming Tesla in traffic

Yup. This relates, for me at least, to the "does anyone wave anymore" thread... I mostly seem to spot a Tesla when it's too late :D

    Mystery Car

Looks like a very expensive toy going by the registration place... If anyone's ever lived in KSA, or knows someone there, then they can check the reg in their Absher account (the KSA equiv of Gov.uk) and it'll say what car it is

Rear passenger side window opening/venting slightly?

I've got a MS 85 loaner at the moment, the drivers side does this. On this particular car it seems that opening the door sometimes opens the window by about 2", and other times the window just moves down a small amount for the door to open / close. If it opens to 2" it stays like that until I...

    X or 3

It's complicated... My pickup experience was poor as it was, this was the *second* car as "my" car that I'd been given the VIN for was damaged at West Drayton on the day of pickup. I only found out the extent of the required paint correction for this one on Tuesday, past the seven day return...

    Chrome delete affecting insurance

Hmmm... not sure how serious you are about some of those, but are some of those classed as insurance-notifiable modifications? For example, I'm wrapping my piano black centre console with white satin, adding rim-guards, and I'm also considering upgrading my puddle / interior lighting.
  28. Lucanesque

    X or 3

I think build is very subjective, there are so many variables that range from objective measures of panel gaps and faults to subjective measures of "it's not as good as my BMW". The interior of my M3LR is beautiful, the exterior is currently undergoing a full body respray because of a poor paint...

How accurate have you found ABRP? I'm planning a trip up to Scotland and the Tesla navigation is suggesting 13 hours with ABRP suggesting just 10 and a bit. I'm wondering if the lack of real time traffic in the free version accounts for the difference?
  30. Lucanesque

    X or 3

Just on what you've said, I'd look at the X. If you've got two kids in the back of a 3 then where is the dog going to go? Not sure what your timing is, but have you considered waiting until the Y comes out?
  31. Lucanesque

    "70" reg crew

Maybe a controversial question to ask, but why are you buying an X if you think it's old and dated and there are other great cars out there? If you're making a compromise to buy an X just because of stated range then could you find yourself pretty dissappointed when you don't get that range...

    Chrome delete affecting insurance

Definitely this... I explicitely said "this isn't a cosmetic wrap", and made it clear that it was, well, clear!
  33. Lucanesque

    Chrome delete affecting insurance

I think it depends on who you speak to at the time. I've got insurance with Churchill, when I was getting it I told them I was getting PPF applied to the front, no problem as it's a clear coat to protect the paint. Other people on TMC have reported telling Churchill they were going to get PPF...

Collection Experience - Tesla Heathrow (West Drayton)

Other than the horrific touch up on the door, which was like 2 x 1" strips of tippex someone had applied, I had four or five small scratches / imperfections plus on the gap between the headlight, bonnet, wing, and bumper (that small horizontal line you can see on my profile pic - not sure if...

There will *always* be something better just around the corner. I deferred my delivery until after lockdown, got QI charging as a bonus. What I'd be thinking about is how long it will take announcements from battery day to make it in to models that you can take delivery of here in the UK?
  36. Lucanesque

Collection Experience - Tesla Heathrow (West Drayton)

They've given me a 2015 Model S 85... RWD, slow as anything compared to my M3 LR. Very comfortable to drive and I do like the look of it from the outside, but inside it's just the same as any car - never imagined I'd get used to having so few buttons, switches, or stalks like the M3!
  37. Lucanesque

Collection Experience - Tesla Heathrow (West Drayton)

Bit of an update for anyone else in a similar position. Took the car in to Brooklands today to get the delivery defects looked at, the poor paint touch up and door misalignment turned out to be the least of the problems, as soon as someone from the body shop looked at it they said what I...

I signed the acceptance document standing in front of the car, within a minute or two the app was showing my car and allowing me to manage it.

    Green Parking Spaces

Do you have a link to the story, I can't find it?
  40. Lucanesque

    Green Parking Spaces

Not always... in my area we've a number of lampost charging points, but they're virtually useless as there's no EV parking bays so always ICE'd by local residents (reasonably) wanting to park near their house (rather than having the bloke down the road parking in front of their place!)

Sharing my no driveway/on street parking setup

Have you ever kerbed your Aero wheels?

Three out of four wheels have a scuff on. I have had the car less than a week <facepalm> We only have on street parking as we live on a victorian terrace. It's got really high cambers, high kerbs, and is a crescent shaped road - looks pretty but a nightmare to park within the lines without...

I *think* CYC has had a problem with their system as I tried over the weekend and it spectacularly failed, app kept crashing and kept saying I wasn't connected to the internet (I was). Struggled to log in to their website too, tried from my phone, from the car web browser, no joy. Today (now I'm...

Thank you - I've called them up and they've allocated me a car. For info for anyone needing this service, they will provide 3rd party cover only with a very high excess (I can't remember now, but it was thousands), they told me to call the day before service and they will tell me the...

Picked up my M3LR yesterday. I went in with high expectations, well statistically more posts on the internet are negative than positive because often when it goes well people don't say so. Sadly, expectations weren't met :( Got a taxi up from Brighton and arrived at 1:40 for a 2pm appointment...
