Tesla will have to ship Cybertrucks out of Texas in order to sell them within Texas

https://www.thedrive.com/tech/40779/tesla-will-have-to-ship-its-texas-built-cars-out-of-state-to-sell-back-to-residents I can at accept regulations that serve a purpose, but this sounds like nonsense.

boring and stodgy investment discussion thread

I have most of my portfolio in tech and greentech stocks, but at this point these companies seem to be getting way overvalued. So I'm thinking of broadening my investing to lame, boring (not Boring) old economy stocks. But a lot of these are overvalued too (26x earning for Walmart!) while others...

    fast charging at grocery stores

Most EV owners charge at home or at work. And that's super convenient, makes going to gas stations seem like a chore. But a lot of people live in apartments and work at places without chargers, and this is a real barrier to getting them out of ICE cars. So I've been thinking about this problem...

can the Cybertruck keep Austin weird?

Elon Musk is weird. Tesla is a little weird. The Cybertruck is most definitely weird. Can they keep Austin weird?

Public service announcement: US electricity is 120V

I keep reading about "110V" charging over and over on this forum. Belize uses 110V, but not the United States of America. The standard in the USA is 120V/240V, not 110V/220V.

    will yoke steering be non-linear?

If the steering is linear and using a normal street car ratio, it could be really awkward to make u-turns or parallel park with a yoke instead of a wheel. So I'm wondering if Tesla will make the yoke steering nonlinear, with an increasingly higher ratio as the yoke is deflected farther, so the...

screen allocation in the Model 3 UI

With the latest SW update, Tesla has made the animation on the left side of the screen bigger, while making the map, speed, and energy flow smaller. The animation looks cool, but it's not actually useful. Meanwhile, useful things like the map have gotten smaller. Is there a setting somewhere...

    Tesla HVAC

The Uujjj family has the Tesla car, the Tesla solar panels, and the Tesla powerwall. Our ancient gas furnace and old AC are getting pretty creaky, and I'd really like to get rid of fossil fuels from the Uujjj house. When's the Tesla home heat pump/AC/HVAC system going to be ready? Here in...

The real purpose of the tri-motor Cybertruck

. . . is towing. I'm sure lots of people have realized this. There's no point to a truck doing 0-60 in 3s, or getting 500+ miles of range on a charge. You're not drag racing a pickup and you are not going to hold your pee for 500 miles. The point of the tri-motor, 500mi range Cybertruck is to...

    Lordstown Endurance pickup truck

Lordstown Motors just went public via a SPAC transaction, so I finally checked out their product. Lordstown Motors Corp. | Electric Work Vehicles | Lordstown, OH, USA Let me first say I'm a fan of what Lordstown Motors is trying to do. I really want this company to succeed. This company's...

California to end gasoline car sales by 2035

California will ban sale of new ICE cars in 2035. Why not sooner? - Electrek Unfortunately, medium and heavy duty ICE vehicles can continue to 2045. I'd prefer if medium/heavy duty vehicles were also required to be zero emission by 2035

Why won't repair shops fix Tesla tire punctures?

I have a tire puncture a few days ago. I drive up to a random repair shop, and tell them I have a tire puncture. The guy says sure no problem we can fix that. We walk outside and as we approach the car, he suddenly stops, says we don't do Tesla, and just walks away. What gives?

    Lucid Air efficiency numbers

Lucid has posted data saying the Air will have a 517 mile range. The Electrek article has a table with additional test data: Lucid Air electric car is going to have insane EPA range of over 500 miles - Electrek Can we estimate the battery pack size and the mile per kWh from the posted data...
