New TAPTES Mats - Anyone try them?

I’ve had the Taptes mats for 7 months now and still very happy with them.

    Basic Summon and Auopilot

No doubt that Autopilot leads the pack in automated driver assistance - and the capability is baked into the purchase price just like the higher trim version of other brands - Hyundai in this case. Anyone who doubts the benefits Autopilot provides needs to take a long road trip with it to...

    Basic Summon and Auopilot

Tesla needs to include basic (not Smart) Summon as a function of Autopilot. There was a time when basic Summon was cutting edge and deserved a premium. Keeping the basic forward/backward feature as a function of Smart Summon makes it seem like a premium feature, but basic Summon no longer is...

New TAPTES Mats - Anyone try them?

I also ordered in Sept and received them last week. Good fit, very happy with them.

    Taptes All Weather Floor Mats

I ordered Sep 15 and the delivery was a surprise - although a good one, I never received an email confirming they had shipped. As an aside, they shipped from Kansas City, MO.

    Taptes All Weather Floor Mats

My front/back seat floor mats arrived yesterday as well, very happy with the fit. I’m still waiting for the trunk area mat.

    Taptes All Weather Floor Mats

Last I heard on Oct 29 they were awaiting Customs clearance, and should ship in the US a few days after being cleared. I haven’t received any updates since then

    Homelink Garage Door Opener Installed

Agree on the install. Its expensive, but over the life of the car it will be worth it.

    Accelerated pedal cover

LR models don’t have a covering on the accelerator, just a metal plate. Brake has the rubber pad.

    License Plate Screw Size

Cross posting from some info I posted my first accessories: Rightcar Solutions silicone license plate frame. $14.99 The rear license plate frame is pretty flimsy and I wanted something that wouldn't rattle. It's thicker than the license plate frame Tesla provides, so I secured it with...

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

Probably a multi-faceted answer. If you have Netflix, American Factory was an interesting watch.

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

Great input, thanks for sharing. As Munro pointed out in his MY teardown, high tolerance (small, consistent gaps) is expensive and you can expect any manufacturer to make trade offs.

Wiki Model Y 19" vs 20" Decision Guide

Exactly, their design changed and they no longer have their name stamped into the rim.

Test drive and buying Model Y in Virginia

Glad to hear you had a good experience! Tyco only gave us 20 min when we test drove, but the experience was good. We thought the same of the ride as compared to our X3, we found the Y to be slightly more comfortable.

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

Those kinds of misalignments are just inexcusable. You were still comfortable taking delivery?

Test drive and buying Model Y in Virginia

Keep regenerative braking on Standard, you should be able to adapt within a few stops. Very different, but pretty cool once you get it down. Play with the car settings a bit; side mirrors, heat/cooling controls. As with any test drive, try a variety of road conditions, rough and smooth. Try to...

Wiki Model Y 19" vs 20" Decision Guide

I went with Gemini and planned to swap them out as well. These TSV wheels are a interesting mix of Induction and Uberturbine, and have just supplanted TSS as my preferred option.

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

I assume you don’t see many Tesla’s in the UK yet, any observations from your driving?

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

I do have the raw data in Numbers and here are two snapshots of how I initially logged the measurements. Your thoughts are spot on as far as standard deviation, that's exactly what it's telling us. The MY has more measurements with left-right imbalances, whereas the X3 was more consistent...

    First Accessories

Thanks, here’s a link to the screw set I bought on Amazon for $9: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SBQ1JX5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I looked at options from Lowe’s, Home Depot and others, this seemed the best all around solution with extras if I need them. The...

    First Accessories

Thought I'd share some of the first accessories I've added to our MY. Please note, I have no association with any of the vendors or manufacturers. Quick bandit license plate holder $129 I'm really impressed with this. Front plates are required in VA and the front mount that comes with the car...

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

It’s a good way to put some specifics around the panel gap question. Tesla is capable of high quality, but consistency is an issue.

    Ring Car Connect

In that case, paying connectivity for yet another device isn't appealing.
  32. sjmcman

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

I should add the largest gaps on the BMW were where the hood meets the front grille. MY was the bottom of the rear lift gate. Max on each was 7.5 mm.

Panel Gaps, MY vs BMW X3

In preparing for our change from BMW to Tesla, I thought it would be interesting to see the measured panel gap differences. So here we go... I made approximately 40 measurements (in millimeters) across our 2017 X3 and new MY resulting in: BMW X3: AVG 4.646 MODE 4.500 STDEV 0.783...

    Ring Car Connect

I read that slightly differently, in that it requires Wifi or LTE to work and that the car's connectivity could provide that? We may need to wait and see the specs, but it's own LTE service would be a big disincentive.
  35. sjmcman

    Ring Car Connect

Judging by the photo, it looks like custom hardware which links to your Ring account. My guess is you’d have to replace your Jeda or Taptes hub to use this.

VIN 49xxx — great delivery but here are my issues

Very similar experience picking up 48xxx VIN today. Blue/black LR, Gemini, Tow hitch, Autopilot/no FSD. The frunk lid appeared to have already been adjusted (bolts were worn), and looked great. The driver's side passenger door was slightly misaligned, the tech adjusted it on the spot and is...

Took delivery yesterday, SC wouldn’t fix gaps

Agree, no need to wait. There are many cars delivered with few issues overall and no serious issues - we mostly hear about the bad stuff. Just go into it with an open mind and if the vehicle doesn’t meet your expectations request a different one. My delivery is this afternoon and I get the...

Took delivery yesterday, SC wouldn’t fix gaps

Agree the frunk should be fixable. The doors are problematic and if you can’t live with the gaps you may want to consider returning.
