    Trailer hitch lock

This I’m using for my 2 inch hitch - just fits and could only get on with lock on the left as the power hook up didn’t allow the long pin to be flat enough to pass both receiver holes from the left. Also had to put lock on while wrenching tight the pin instead of after(which is what...

    Range variation 2013 Model S vs 2021 Model Y

I have not had a Model S, but I think they're close to the same width, but the Y a bit taller and slightly higher Cd. So I imagine a bit of a bigger hit. I had a Bolt before and it took a pretty big hit as well, to me they seem comparable. I also have the MPP 2" lift on mine so might give...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

I just came back from my first (much shorter - 1200 mile round trip) road trip. My impression is similar to this. The navigation estimate I found to be pretty accurate only if I drove the speed limit and there was no headwind. It might have still been slightly optimistic even in that setting...

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

With regard to terrain/conditions, I did have a friend test drive a Model 3 AWD last week down one of our canyons in the snow. He was notably disturbed by rear slippage coming down when regen kicked in. I'd agree there is some "getting used to it" as he probably just took his foot off the...

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

The more I've thought about it, the more I think this may be a bigger difference than quality control etc. Uphill and downhill turns are going to be turns with either more accelerator push, or more regen depending on the direction. Even just going straight up or down a steep slippery slope in...

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

I've definitely gone the other way too and posted into the Model 3 forums, as I would also think it would be the same. At least some M3 owners seem to have the same impressions as I do (there's a thread begging for "snow mode" for example), but I think some feel the same as you do as well. I...

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

After a few more snowy drives with the Sottozeros, I still have to agree with Mvdaog, at least in part. Having driven several Subaru's (Outback and Forester only), FWD (most recently Bolt and Jetta), and now the MY, it seems clear that temporary loss of traction occurs more often with the RWD...

Model Y Performance In The Snow

Yes, I’m hoping enough people will pester to get a “snow mode” with more front than rear bias on pushing the pedal (perhaps with a range reduction warning) and reducing the rear regen as well. I have the pirelli snow tires and still does not feel near as confident/secure as my wife’s Subie...

Clunk noise during left turn into an incline - anyone the same?

Thanks I have a similar thing, but seems like could happen on either side, very subtle chunk like hitting a firm piece of slush, and only on inclined turns (in my case can happen up or down on a mountain pass near my house). Will schedule appt thanks!

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

@garykunkel2 can't get on Twitter on this computer but was my last "Tweet and Reply" before I retweeted inglesdesousa :) See some SnowMode hashtags out there, maybe #ModelYSnowMode or #TeslaSnowMode I'm no Twitter guru that's for sure

Amen! I tweeted Elon maybe it will work !

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

I have the Pirelli Sottozeros on. I'm by no means a winter driving expert and I need to play around a lot more, but the low regen seems like a no brainer, as per above the chill mode or feathering the throttle might delay the front wheels kicking in so not as sure about that as I thought when...

We need "Off-Road Assist" for snow driving

There's a similar discussion going on in the Model Y Forum right now - not clear that the off road assist is the magic answer as one person said it helped them, one didn't in that thread (still haven't had enough snow days to test it out myself yet). My first big snow drive experience in the Y...

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

I agree. Had my first snow drive this week and experienced what Bjorn described, both on downhill regen turns with rear regen related slippage, and fishtailing with modest acceleration. I haven't had a RWD car since the 80's, and I don't think I want to go back. My wife's Forester is very...

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

Thanks, makes sense, better to slip a bit and grip than lose progress when trying to go up a hill etc..

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

Apologies for this dumb question. I can get that "off-road assist" makes sense for my "SnowMode" driver profile (along with chill mode and low regen), for more even front/rear wheel power distribution compared to normal driving. But wouldn't it be better if "off-road assist" didn't also take...

When is the brake applied during regen deceleration

This is my experience as well, I was a little uncomfortable with when my old Chevy Bolt brake lights would trigger, but these are definitely even later and make me nervous enough to occasionally tap the brake pedal if someone is behind me.

A New Tesla Salutation How to say HELLO

Thought about this too, kinda like the down low wave for motorcycles. Would be cool if a front headlight could “wink” on command

Questions for owners in hot states (texas, Arizona, etc)

One last option depending on work situation would be “trickle charging” at places you were stopped over an hour. The extra 20-25 miles from 5 hours of trickling if you had accessible plugs can give a bit more cushion/security
